Yeah, I have noticed that start up seems to be quicker, wasn’t sure if I was imagining it until this thread!

Edit: I’m in the insider program.

From 9 to 4 seconds is pretty extraordinary. I use mine in the energy efficient mode because the other way uses too much electricity.
Yeah, start up on the new consoles is so fast that standby doesn’t really seem worth it, although I will sometimes have it on standby to specifically download something.

A got an update on the 17th at 4am and there is no record of this update online anywhere 🤔 am not in any insider program.

What changed? Just the intro?

the "animation" is not the boot up time. there is a 3 or 4 second black screen before the boot animation comes in. the full boot up is like 13 seconds on the old version, which is like 1 or 2 seconds faster than the PS5 which similarly has a black screen phase before an image comes on screen, but the black screen is still part of the boot process.

so with this it should now be around 8 seconds of boot up time and the old one is 13 seconds, so not half, unless the black screen phase at the start of the boot up is also shortened

So I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but after updating my Xbox series X I've noticed that the startup animation is shorter and the sound/music is slightly different, has anyone noticed it too? Am I crazy? Also I liked the old one better this sounds like it is on a rush to finish asap.

I personally bounce between Standby and Full Shut Downs. But I do appreciate the faster boot up. Though the old boot sound is better.

Just checked my Series X on the latest official software, and it's still the longer intro. I even recorded a video and overlaid it with the videos in this thread. So clearly this hasn't rolled out to everyone.

Its faster than the C1 boot time? that's silly.. LG gotta work on their OS
Takes like a few seconds. I don’t think anyone cares about the TV taking a few seconds to turn on, which is prob why it isn’t as optimized as it could be. My Samsung TV takes even longer than the C1 fwiw.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

It's only live for the Insiders so far, not for everyone.

Seems the same to me...

The new boot is roughly 5~ seconds faster.

Hadn't realized that. I was thinking my system must have missed the update. LOL

Yeah, I've asked mods to update the topic title. I think the other topic where the actual news was posted should have been left open.

People are not clear about what this is and who has access to it right now.

Even base XBO and One X will benefit from this:

So it definetly is different, the sound is shorter and the animation faster, I don't get the point of doing this change, to save 2 seconds? the original sound was cooler now it sounds like it wants to finish asap.

I've recorded the new intro to compare.

Old startup.

New Startup.

I am glad that I am not crazy and there is an actual difference lol.

Whoa! It definitely is faster. Don't know which one I like more. I like the older sound, but I do like the speedy startup too.

are these cold boot up times? Mine feels way faster but my xsx is always in sleep mode or whatever they call it

Yes, I'm assuming for comparisons sake they would use cold boot.

Cause yeah standby takes maybe 2, 3 seconds at most.
Yeah, that’s why I was saying it boots up quicker than my TV. Standby/sleep mode is super quick.

Is there any advantage to turning off your Xbox completely? I’ve had my xsx since day 1 and been using standby mode with no issues

The biggest one is energy savings I suppose, cause it takes (according to their estimates) 20x less energy when you don't have your console in "stand by" mode.

20x sounds like a lot but it’s pretty meaningless if it’s 20x more than an incredibly minuscule number to begin with

Can’t imagine it’s even noticeable given how much I spend on AC

cool, still keeping instant on.

it should be around 10-20 watts, maybe more when it's actually looking for/downloading updates.
20x in the absolute sense sounds dramatic, but it's really not saving you that much as it sounds.

I just like the fact that Microsoft are constantly on the look out for small tweaks like this, it's only a few seconds on a cold boot, but they did it because they can.

I never thought I would hear about boot up screen nostalgia but there it is :p
