I'd say its visually on a similar level but renders at double the resolution, which obviously makes it better. Talking about quality I'm sure they're not only referring to graphics but the whole game and how polished everything will be.
I think the price is probably why some are not on board with this remake, but given its not just graphical improvements (visual and audio being the norm), I'd say its worth the price tag.
AI has been overhauled to TLOU2 levels, physics within the environments have been increased and improved so everything reacts more realistically. Motion matching is now in from TLOU2 which means the animation system has been completely overhauled, the whole game is basically been redone visually, audio and gameplay (changing the AI to TLOU2 will make every encounter play out in different ways than the original) perspective.

Look man, lots of people don't want this game, you need to recognize this. Maybe we are a minority but it is what it is. I much preferred they included factions 2 in part 1. Sells are just that, sells. It don't represent quality.
ND or Sony are taking bad moves. They greenlighted a divicive trash part 2, (that devaluated the first game as a franchise) they removed the multi-player from part 2 and part 1, they charge full price for a remake and don't sell it in ps4, (judging from the trailer it could run just fine like part 2) no news about factions or any other project.
I'm just a little pist for it, you know? With part 2 they take all ballsy choices (wich I respect) but non of them paid off, and it seems they continue in that trend.
I bet factions 2 is delayed to figure how to monetize the shit and back without pulling a Diablo fiasco.

Oh, I'm not gonna buy it. There a lot new games to play. I was talking to a friend and my only doubt is how the game aged, gameplay and pacing wise, cause I remember being very lineal and corridor like with lots of talking while walking.

Yeah they switched to realtime with Uncharted 4. The cutscenes are still using better character models and way better lighting and visual effects than in gameplay. hero lighting helps too.
They said they are using cutscene quality models in gameplay now, but they clearly dont look as good so they must be lower LOD. Hero lighting might have helped those character models shine during gameplay.

Lol I never said TLOU2 cutscenes weren't great. But to say the remake doesn't look better tech wise (as you have claimed) is willful ignorance at best.
I'm sure ND will be fine; I believe this game will do very well on PS5 once reviews are in. I just think that sooo many other games are much more worthy of this level of criticism, and since they didn't have this sort of discourse, I find the negativity around TLOU Remake to be very weird. Better graphics than TLOU2, better AI than TLOU2, better physics than TLOU2, better animation than TLOU 2, better audio than TLOU2.... but it's a cash grab because no prone mechanic? And all during a period where current gen games are as popular/easy to find as unicorns? I mean, where are our priorities as gamers (especially those who seek new gen experiences) when we're having such intense debate over TLOU Remake while the Madden franchise continues to exist and be successful?

THANKFULLY he changed that with TLOU. The one thing we do NOT need is for one gaming company to make multiple games that feel the same. I 100% LOVE the slow/slog of TLOU 1 and 2! The game weighs on you with its dreary story and slowly-paced gameplay. TLOU series is one of my favorite gaming series of all time and yet I've NEVER in my life had fun playing either game or the DLC. They are not fun games at all to me. But I love them to death. Druckman has allowed me to truly understand that games don't have to be fun, to be enjoyable. If that makes any sense......

All the others are bringing it up to par with tlou2 from what anyone can tell

Sure Rockstar make great games, but one game each 5000 years, with a bunch of trash gta online in between. And same IPs over and over too.
And ND used to drop at least one new IP each start of new gen. Now they becoming another ultra safe ad, stale dev, the most useless remake ever, and a game base on a online mode of that same IP.

Now what I REALLY want to see for some juicy drama is to watch the warriors do battle should THIS scenario happen:

I say we wait and check with our eyes if combat, ia, animations etc are actually better because from that official video, all these things are as crystal clear as your typical reeeee user sexual orientation...
And in regard to physics, they literally showed what you can already see in many many other games, some from the ps2-ps3 era (unless you think that some rubbles coming from a cover and some broken glass is something even remotely impressive), sorry if people are let down when this is supposed to be a fully native ps5 game...

People get confused and think that playing games means that you have to be having fun doing it, since that's how it was in the 1980s and 1990s. The medium has grown past that. I didn't have "fun" playing RE7 in VR either, yet it's been my favorite game I've ever played in VR to date.
Liking a video game, doesn't mean you had to have "fun" per say. But I've loved both RE7 in VR and TLOU series without having "fun". It's easy to understand once you drop the failed belief of what playing games mean.

A remaster increases the resolution, framerate, and cleans a few things up here and there. A remake is when they remake character models, the playable gaming areas, etc. This is a remake through and through. Just a weaker version of one when compared to say Final Fantasy 7.
The honest truth is, this PS5 version should ONLY be compared to the PS3 game. People comparing it to the PS4 remaster are doing it wrong and are trying to confuse the masses on purpose.
To be fair to Rockstar they lost their lead writer and creative soul of their company a few years back. So obviously they are lost on what to do to some degree. But let's not at like RDR2 was made 10 years ago. That game came out 3.5 years ago. And it was a HUGE game as far as size and scope is concerned.

I just noticed something. I was watching that 10 minutes trailer and there's this yellow taxi. Since I'm playing through TLOU2 right now I was like hey, I know this taxi. It's the exact same model CTRL+C and CTRL+V from the second game to the "remake".
Problem is that taxis in Boston where the first game takes place are not yellow. They are generally white. Taxis are of course yellow in Seattle.

I really enjoyed the first game. I played it on Normal then Normal+ then Hard and Hard+ then Survivor and Survivor+. Loved how every difficulty played differently. Normal and Hard were great to experience the human fights that felt far more visceral than in any other shooter of the PS3 era. Survivor forced me to basically play the game stealthily which brought with it its own challenges. Once I got the remaster, I did 4 more runs. 3 on Survivor to get all the single player trophies. Ive always had fun playing the game.
The second one was a miserable experience because of poor pacing but I still enjoy the combat encounters. It's not as fun as say MGSV or Destiny, but I would not have replayed the game three times if it wasnt fun to play.

Boston is the very start of the game when you are with Tess. Yes, they are literally copying and pasting assets here but not everything can be ported over. Entire towns and levels in TLOU have different textures and levels that had to be manually retouched.

It was in one of the DF Directs when they first looked at the reveal trailer. So thats their 4k upscaled solution. Upscaled from 1440p.
The leak showed a 4k 40 fps mode. So its at least a little better than the Uncharted remaster and the TLOU2 BC patch. This could be due to the fact that the levels in TLOU1 are much much smaller compared to the wider levels in TLOU2.
