Elden Ring enters the top 10 highest grossing premium games in US history

You know you've officially made it when you start seeing clothing on par with the DBZ silk collar shirts all the nerds wore back in the day. Peak cultural impact.

Congrats From Software.

Countdown until we see Elden Ring on Paramount + begins now. I give it 2 years.

“Elden Ring will finish as 2022’s best-selling premium game in the US market, marking only the 3rd time since 2009 that a Call of Duty franchise release does not lead the market,”

Wow… not even waiting for COD MW2 (2022) to come out before calling it.🤔

I'm not a huge fan of souls games but, honestly? It's amazing to see an actual full game, released with no microtransations or bullshit outselling everything else in the industry.

It seems people still like to pay for full experiences, imagine that.

That list posted is full of games with "no microtransactions." ER released a week after another huge AAA game with "no microtransactions." If people aren't seeing full game experiences when scouring the game release landscape, maybe they aren't searching right.

That is absolutely fantastic and I'm glad to see that From Software is thriving. I am just hoping that this doesn't mean that they continue using their outdated engine that's completely piecemealed together. I loved Elden Ring throughout because I played on my XSX and LG C1 with VRR, the amount of frame pacing issues and frame drops is inexcusable on PC the current gen titles.

Who would have thought a little ol game from a relatively obscure Japanese developer in 2009 would explode into what it is today.

If From had caved in and added Easy Mode to their games, I don't think it ever would have gotten here.

I know if Demon's Souls on PS3 had had an easy mode, I would have caved and played that. I also probably would never have "got it" and fallen in love with it and future From games.

Not as hard as other From Soft games, but harder than 99% of the triple A games that come out today.
In general, ya - but this it's probably why this was more successful, the accessibility for new players is much higher than older souls games.

I've watched plenty of streamers new to souls games who were just not great at games breeze through this one. Summons were a big part of that.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the "bell" NPC summons. It did make things much easier if you chose to go that route...especially the mimic which you get later on. I ended up using it for Malenia, but that's because she's a fucking bitch.

I think the primary appeal was the open world mixed with the Dark Souls formula. From Soft nailed that aspect better than many expected. Oh and the amazing reviews too. 96% on Metaritic is unheard of today.

I'm still working through this game, just started lyndell and am level 112 with around the same hours played. I was prepared for a big game but this is a massive game with tons of stuff to do.

Out of all the sales I want to see the % of players who actually made it to end credits.
Probably like 4%, 10% being very generous.

The Hoarah Loux, Warriors achievement is for beating the boss in front of the final boss door, and it's 37.5%, and the ending trophies have a combined total of over 56%. So at least 37% reached the end credits on steam, with a decent amount of that % replaying the game, or save stating, before the final boss. I have the Playstation version and looking at the trophies it's around the same. Even the optional hardest boss in the game has over 30% on both.

Steam is very understandable due to cheat mods like WeMod and cheat engine.
Not saying everyone used it but guaranteed many have.
30% is still fairly low though.

I blame the Astrologer for all my negative anything about this game. I should have just chosen a regular old warrior, I might have completed it by now.

It's shocking to see how big it got, amazing, well deserved.

Imagine if FromSoftware is gonna sell like this moving forward, billion earners.

Damn... Just finished Dark Souls as first Miyazaki Souls, was thinking about getting DS3 but I want some time before I jump to that... should I get ER instead?

Hopefully we get that RTX patch soon.

Hopefully it remains after COD comes out. No one should buy MW2022 as it's $70. If you don't buy it, the industry won't go that direction.

Hmmm. Hard to say. Dark Souls 3 is amazing, and a brilliant finale to the Souls series. Elden Ring is something that will feel familiar to you, but yet is very different. And it's THE game right now. So it might be cool to experience it while it still has a massive userbase (not that DS3 doesn't. It does).
