Lol word. Playing a modern videogame at 30 fps in 2022 is fucking dead man lmao
To make things worse is, besides they need to use motion blur to hide the study picture, no one really talks about the extremely latency low framerate brings with it.

30 fps games always feels tanky compared to games with higher framerates.

There’s not one person in my circle that actually prefers to play a videogame with that low framerate.

The average gamer nowadays are more knowledgeable about why 30 fps games felt like straight ass to play back in the days.

With that said even 60 isn’t enough, 100+ with super low input latency and fast monitor pixel response now we’re playing a videogame that immerses you where it actually fucking matters, the gameplay!

Theres people who notices it (probably somewhat competitive players, or just players with the preference).

And then theres casual people, who dont really care about latency, cant see the difference between a stuttery image and a fluid one. Remember when "30 fps is great for cinematic" bs that people talked about?

60 fps still isnt the norm on console, and will never be. When the xbox one/Ps4 days are over, then the market will be flooded with 30 fps games to push out those extra pixels.

We’ll see what decisions these videogame developers/publishers will make in the future especially when faster console hardware will probably be available on the market.

Every next gen has been about graphics.

The hardware was always capable of running 60 fps, but pretty screenshots sells.

Lol yeah modern marketing is all about dem screenshots!

If your point was as strong as you imagine, we'd still have games running at 20fps.

thats true btw

taa practically only looks good when you absolutely stand still and image quality, clarity, sharpness and cleanness breaksdown the second you do any movement in gameplay

taa is practically designed for people to stop, take screenshots, talk about how gorgeous games look, while silently agreeing upon to never mention how the illusion it creates breaks down once you move in game or move the camera

Then explain to me why 60 fps isn't the norm, but 30 fps is.

60fps *is* the current norm, for a start.
You said it yourself.

Current.

The same was with ps4 and xo.

Once the games roll out we will once again see a dump in fps.

A question though - can you see and feels a difference between 30,60 and 120 fps?

I don't think it was the same with last gen, though. I don't ever remember different modes, and I'm not sure even cross gen games were 60.

As for the question: I can see a huge difference between 30 and 60, and basically no difference between 60 and 120.

When people talk about 'feeling' a difference, I'm not really sure what they mean. I suspect they're referring how the extra clarity makes it easier to perceive incoming attacks etc - eg enemy projectiles are much easier to track - and therefore the games 'feel' more responsive. I just tend to find them way easier, but whether that's the same thing or not, I'm not sure.

Nope. Its not and wont be for a long time. Accept and move on. And Lol and lmao's dont exactly help make your opinion valid. Just looks stupid.
No one is saying that you can’t enjoy 30fps. You do- that’s cool.

Others want higher frames, and that’s fine too.

Nah they are not fine for many games.

Racing, action, sports, fighting, RTS, FPS, platformer...All of those genres are better at 60fps. Yeah, 30fps might be playable and enjoyable, but the gameplay will be affected by it in a bad way.

Meanwhile 30fps doesn't affect the gameplay as much in turn based games of visual novels.

Clearly your opinion is not shared by the far majority. GTA5 sold quite well as a 30 fps game.

Yeah, but an opinion not being shared by the majority doesn't mean it's wrong.

Most people just don't know any better, or they don't care enough to realize the difference.

We don't know what exactly is the cause of low framerate being bothersome. It could be increased sensitivity to low frame rates, or it could be a failure of the brain to compensate for low framerate. Some brains might just be able to better autocomplete the motion even given fewer frames.

I do know that n64 had abysmal framerates in many games, and I still found it quite enjoyable.

Both Killzone and Infamous had frame rate options. They both originally shipped uncapped and were unstable, so then they added a 30fps cap option to stabilize the frame rate. I definitely preferred playing them at 30 just for the consistent performance.

beating a dead horse wtf GIF

I tried HFW on base ps4 and god, game runs at like 20fps most of the time. I was pumped to play it after 5 years but, said fuck it, will wait for an eventual pc release
