Happy Independence Day, US-GAF!

Enjoy you're independence day. A celebration of independence that you wouldn't have achieved without a massive amount of French support šŸ„³
As for the French... I think we repaid that favor (and then some) by bailing them out of two 20th century world wars.

In the words of Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 2 remake: "I think we're even." šŸ˜‚

I'm joking. Really, enjoy it. At least you get to celebrate a national day. In England, our national day is hardly noticed and is a taboo subject.

Happy 4th July US GAF.
Thank you kind sir.

I don't really think of the independence itself much, as an antagonistic thing for which we must still hold grudges. Why? Because at some point we both (Americans and Brits) realized that the only thing giving us distance was the physical separation of the Atlantic Ocean; in most other respects, the United States and England/Britain/UK have a lot of cultural commonalities. Language, literature, music, ideas of the enlightenment, etc.

Asking politely to the usual America-hating suspects: This is a celebration thread, so please keep your hate at the door. You can hate on the US the other 364 days of the year if you, for some twisted reason, can't resist :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I know that for some of you, reading the first post of threads is not a strength or a capability.

But Jesus tap-dancing Christ, the OP is not that long.

GeekyDad GeekyDad 0/10 garbage post, keep that crap out of this thread.

Despite this country being flawed, it's still one of the greatest countries not just now, but in the history of civilization.

I would never want to get that close to a bald eagle. Saw a few at the local zoo. They're the size of a small child and them claws man.

Happy 4th July US GAF.

My childhood neighborhood had a park at its center. It's name? Lafayette.

Talked to a few salty girls today saying ā€œwhatā€™s there to celebrate?!ā€ If I find anymore Iā€™ll put a sparkler in my ass and do a jig

Happy 4th!

My neighborhood has multiple block parties. Fireworks everywhere.

I just came back from hanging out with friends. Had a couple of nice American microbrews, burgers slightly overcooked for my taste but that was fine šŸ˜‚

Yeah honestly I'm glad to have been born into the premier superpower of the world, could have been a lot worse. But still I'm a petty old fuck and I dread this night because I know I won't get decent sleep.

I'm currently listening to a drunk couple cry and argue with each other from across the street. Did some yard work in the morning, enjoyed a nice cookout with the gf and the dog, drank a few beers.

This country can suck a lot of the time, but it's also a pretty nice place to be, all things considered.

God bless America, happy 4th GAF.

I did get woken up once, but surprised that the fireworks didn't go as late as they usually do; sometimes they go as late as 2 or 3 AM, but by midnight people were mostly wrapping up.

Sounds like a pretty awesome chill time.

Yes. Every country (including this one) has issues. But there's a difference between criticizing your country with the hopes of making it better, and... what some people do, which is have an irrational, nihilistic/destructive hatred of your country.

God bless America, happy 4th GAF.

No evidence of shooting? Are people so on edge that they mistake exploding fireworks for gunfire?
