The Last Of Us Part 1 - Improvements Listed

Overpriced based on general value/pricing metric for other 70 dollars games so far. I am perfectly fine with others spending whatever they'd like to, but that doesn't change the fact it is overpriced.
In your opinion. So one again,

Not for me. I can't think of a game that needed to be remade/remastered less than this one.

If you're one of the 5 people who haven't played it
, I strongly recommend you spend around $10 and just play the original. It still looks quite good and runs at 4K/60 on a PS5. Heck it runs and looks good on a vanilla PS4.

I'd be wary of Sony jacking up the price of the PS4 remaster for people who do that sort of thing.
What an odd thing to say. It is possible to play a game more than one time. It’s like you’re assuming that remasters and remakes are only played by people who missed the original release. You think only people who missed Demon’s Souls played the remake on PS5? You think only new players are excited for the RE4 re-release? I’d guess that 50% are returning players, possibly 75%, or more.

Yeah I heard Jimbo is now a game director at Naughty Dog.
Jimbo is above the director of Naughty Dog or any directors at Playstations studios. So if something is wrong at the playstation studios he should be the one to blame for the most part.

The remake looks amazing and people are being way too harsh calling it a PS4 game. Part 2 was way ahead of any game ever made graphically, and looks more next gen than any other game bar Forbidden West. It's probably Naughty Dog's fault for setting the bar too high, but there is no way they could of made it that much better looking than it already is, considering it's only been 2 years since TLOU2

Same to you. Why bothering tagging me in the first place then if you don't want to have discussion, smh.
You're right, same to me.

Yet the consensus is that people don't have a problem with it, since sales have not stagnated due to it.

I remember when we all cheer leaded with, "I would rather pay MORE for a complete game with zero MTX..."

Yet here we are. Here we are.

Complete game? Does it have the factions mode?

I knew someone would say this, the remaster is still there with the mode and still being played. After all, everyone says they own it who claims they won't buy this, which is their right, hell, I'm not even getting it day 1, backlog too thicc. 🤷‍♀️
I'll wait for Factions 2. Hell no I'm paying for this.

You are changing the subject, we are specifically talking about this TLOU ramke pricing and in the thread I saw multiple folks concerning the price, and we don't know how it will sell.

As for the MTX argument, the context is people are willing to pay more one time for new online games that are usually infested with shady MTX, not for a single player game where the remake is not necessary in terms of gameplay.

But anyway, I think we can just agree to disagree, peace.

And the $100 version is sold out, and this game is leading presales charts at the moment.

So for all the concern, many more will be buying it. The average consumer doesn't give a shit like us forum drama queens. It takes a colossal 2013-like fuck up to make MSM head waves in order to do so.

Not even the shit on a disc Cyberpunk suffered on the sales charts.

Tell me a major AAA game that not sold out for its launch collector edition, even Biomutant's collector edition is sold out, lol, it's simply due to limited supply, not necessary the huge demands.

As for average players buying it of not, we'll see, for the reasons I stated previously, the original sold more than 17m over ps3 and ps4 and I'd be surprised if the remake sells as much. PC players will probably be the strong momentum but again I am skeptical because of the price point, PC players are more often than not more sensitive to values.

Cyberpunk definitely suffered from long run, the game was 10 dollars for many times over last year, I made threads about it.

I don't think their goal is 17m for this, not saying they wouldn't like it. It was cohesion, designer/artist OCD, and expanding the game to more audiences with the show coming out.

Maybe if this was released as paid DLC(50$ max?) to enhance the remastered with the option to switch the graphics back and forth people would have less issues with it?

Data? How much did those first party 70 dollars games sell? It is even more untrue when those games will eventually be included in PS plus extra.
HFW most sold version is the $70 version and the game is topping the charts since launch. That's all you need.
It's $10 and only forum drama queens, as DeepEnigma DeepEnigma beautifully described, care about this.
After all, forum drama queens love CONCERN.

I don't know what point you are trying to make. If you want to pay $70 for a remake be my guest. All I am saying is that you have the option to play a version of the game (PS4) that still looks very good on the same console you would be playing the remake. The PS5 can handle both the original and the new upcoming remake. The original still looks good and can be had for $10 or less. So it makes sense to try the original version first when it still looks good and runs quite well if you are on the fence.

Demons Souls is a different beast all together. It was originally released on the PS3 and is currently only playable on that console (No. PC emulation doesnt count). It's much either the remake on PS5 or hunt down a PS3 and the game.

My point is that it’s not an unnecessary remake, it’s not just the 5 people who haven’t played the original game that are excited about a remake made from the ground up for PS5 with lots of improvements.

You just said it was his idea to make this game. You're ridiculous

Speedrun mode?

Probably auto-skips cutscenes, maybe auto-skips walk-and-talk sections with little interactivity, and has timed splits for sections/fights letting you practice sections with ingame timers and leaderboards.

This remake does feel a touch redundant, as the 2014 remaster is modern enough and runs very nicely at 1800 P60 on PS4 Pro and PS5. Even though the visuals date back to PS3 and some fine details don't hold up well at all, it's still a good lookin game on the whole with very nice art direction that is easily accessible on modern platform. Perhaps development resources could have been better used elsewhere.

I agree.

This game was super fun in 2013. But something new would have been 1000x better than a remake. I wish Sony would stop remaking/remastering and put those resources into new content instead.

Yup. Basically what I was saying earlier.

Like everyone pretty much been saying since the rumors. ND used to take risks over new IPs.

Just to give you an ideia, even IGN say the same and is very unlikely they do this kinda of stuff again.

Too late to complain now. Just pray for others Sony first party studio do the oposite.

Sorry but some people really don't understand what Sony and Naughty Dog are doing here.

They are trying to build this franchise up to coincide with the TV show and bring Part 1 next to Part 2 in the current generation. This is not uncommon in any business to improve/revise something to generate a wider audience. The original/remastered PS4 version is a really good game but it doesn't really hold up to the gameplay standards of today. The game is not marketed for older players/fans, they want to attract new people to the franchise, if the TV shows is a success, moving forward more people will be attracted to check out the games and will set them up for Part 3 which I guarantee you will happen. They believe The Last of Us franchise is something special and this is their way to maximise hype and build on it.

If all of OP's post is true about the changes, it's definitely considered a whole new developed game. There are some serious changes in there. For new gamers, to experience this for the first time will be amazing.

I'm not happy to pay the price either being that I already own and have experienced it but I understand why.
