Geoff Keighley & IMAX Are Partnering Up to Bring TGA & Summer Game Fest to Theaters

I just hope it's at a better time so I don't have to sprint next time. Hope they're able to expand the amount of theaters.

what maniac would watch this in Imax?

I mean, if there were other people there and it was a show guaranteed to have big stuff, sure, that would have been a fun event!

Gamers on internet forums don't seem to like other gamers, but I've had great times at gamer events. Console launches lines, PAX, fan events, never been to an e-sports event but something like that or a fighting tourney, those in-person events are good for the value of this community. They're nerdy, they're sausage-fests, but they're rare experiences where humanity can share passion for gaming entertainment.

Also, games show surprisingly well on a big screen. Okay, maybe a big, big screen like IMAX is overkill, but on a projected screen instead of a TV or computer monitor, you can see the games in a bit of a different light, removed from how you usually see or play them.

Sure, this show may not have been worth the ticket price, but get out there, have some fun!

I went. They charged the full price of the IMAX matinee ticket. The swag was an orange drawstring bag that said Summer Game Fest and had a QR code for some SF6 something. Other pro bonos were 4 month free trial to Sirius XM, 1 month Showtime subscription, and a credit card offer with $200 cash. All of which you could’ve gained before going to the show and then gotten a refund sans the bag.

The theater was mostly empty as well. Maybe 20 people tops in a theater for easily fits 250+.

So yeah, it was a bust. Will likely never go to a SGF event again. PlayStation Experience, however…

Agreed with this post. It can be a fun experience. Think of the video below(especially around 1:45)

Pass. But I'll support him from a far. I use to hate Geoff back in the G4TV, 1UP.com days.... but Guess who's still here in gaming? It's Geoff. Still pushing gaming to a bigger audience. That counts for something.

I find it unfortunate that's he's the one that managed to stick around.

Should have been Victor Lucas instead.
