Youtube Demonetizes The Act Man's Entire Channel Over Petty Reasons

This image broke their TOS about "sexual content"?

What a joke!

Uh yea, it's insinuating he's putting a phallus in his mouth. Why wouldn't it? If someone took a pic of one of your family members and did the same, you wouldn't be offended?

I've seen enough from both of them to know I don't really care for either of their style of content. But the way they've both been dragging out this whole thing is both hilarious and embarrassing at the same time, to me anyway.

But I'm not interested in demonizing QuantumTV or TheActMan, or defend them either. Just wanted to give my quick two cents before Summer Games Fest kicks off 😁👍
Act man made two very fun videos.
That’s all for dragging

This is what happens when you launch a hate campaign based on lies

The act man tried to use his large following to destroy QTV based on false accusations, confirmed by youtube as false claims.

Youtube should ban him and the rest of the clowns do not understand how youtube works

People made a big deal about QTV contacting his mom when Alanah Pearce did the same thing to trolls years ago and got cheered for it give me a break

This was an easy win for Quantum

This all started because somebody had a negative opinion about Elden Ring and somebody else just couldn't accept that. lmfao

That's the absolute hilarious part about it.

Act man made two very fun videos.

Fun for who? His fanbase.

Which again is just reaffirming my initial post on it; this stuff's entertaining for their fans, which is a big reason why they've been in a back-and-forth this long.

I just find the juvenile nature of it kind of funny.

Big tech decides wrong all the time. Youtube is big enough it should be considered a public forum. Making videos isn't targeted harassment. Response videos are as old as the platform.

Quantumtv is a religious fanatic nutjob that dosent know shit about technology or tv calibrations. Several other tech channels prove him wrong. Add that to the homophobic tirades he goes on and youtube defending him on pride month makes it funnier.

To all of you with the "boo hoo get a real job" rhetoric, youre right but it also shows your envy of not being capable of forming a community and videos that appeal to other people that share your tastes. Act man tried to defend a 16 year old from QuantumTV. QTV was abusing copystriking and making videos fixated on the boy's subscribers and age.

It's even worse. He's scamming people, stealing from other content creators, relating to calibration specifics and settings, which ActMan also proved that he was immediately stealing from other content creators.

I have no horse in this race, because YouTube drama is retarded, and the Act Man is a white knight cuck that makes shitty youtube vids, and quantum is a fucking loser that will never be popular after all of this shit blows over, but that video you posted was garbage. And the dude who made it got called out for his shitty opinion in the comments and did a terrible job defending himself.

As for all of this it's just pointless. I have no sympathy for either of em.

So... his video would be valid if it was universally fun and not for his fanbase ?!
What kind of backwards ass thinking that is.
The drama is not for you so what are you even trying to achieve here

He outranks all of that in the hierarchy. February > June

That the drama is dumb. Especially considering what really started it all was a shitty take on Elden Ring that somehow turned into wrongthink and then spiraled into this mess of a situation.

It's entertaining, precisely because the stupidity that spawned it. But since part of the drama is to entertain, it's fulfilling at least that much.

yeah I agree with this outlook

QTV guy called Act Man's mother in order to intimidate him. I think a harmless cucumber pic is absolutely nothing compared to that.
You see far worse jokes on youtube all the time.

Fun for who? His fanbase.

I didn't even watch his videos about QTV and still think he has been treated very unfairly. So no, this is clearly not about drama, but content creators being spontaneously robbed of their livelihood.

That's why the world needs a non profit, jointly funded, open source youtube alternative, where creators can be creatively free. I could share it's profits accross all indiviuals equally. Something like that would work just as well as youtube. The only problem is the get the huge amount of money to start such a thing. On the other hand, it could start small and then become big.

I stopped a while ago making content because YouTube wants a very specific kind of content and lot of content we see is actually endorsed by YouTube's behaviour.

I had a small income for years with YouTube, didn't do much but had some videos with good clicks and comments, videos that were clicked even years after its upload. No issues for a very long time.

Then I noticed that payments stopped (it took a while for me to notice because it was small sums and only two times per annual). Then I saw that monétisation for my whole channel was disabled because of "repetitive content". They didn't tell me which videos were the problem, they only refered to official guide lines which didn't help at all. No further explanation whatsoever, only that I should delete some content that is "not meaningful" and "repetitive", and that delisting or setting it to private won't help.

Since I've lost the YouTube partner status I've lost access to the support so I couldn't ask anyone directly.

The only thing you can do is to reapply which is handled manually and you can only reapply after a certain period which grows longer the more you reapply.

They give you the option to upload and explanation video why your channel should be kept monetized and what kind of effort goes into your uploads.

Sorry but I don't spend hours explaining myself so I get the same benefits I've had before. I shouldn't even explain myself because people liked the content I've had and clicked it and generated ad revenue for YouTube, too.

Probably too little for the upkeep and server cost, I don't know.

Then I realised that when I removed some gameplay content of video games that I could monetize my channel again so I thought it's video game walkthroughs YouTube has a problem with and sees as "repetitive content" because it even shows you how much of your content is used by other users. And because games are often the same, especially with cutscenes I often got flags of 80-99% matching. Now if others got that too, then you could argue, according to YouTubes guide line, that this is "repetitive".

Why this is an issue, I don't know. Also, lots of my videos were in Germany and the notification stated clearly that my explanation video has to be in English or Indian and is manually evaluated.

Great. So some Indian's watching my channel, doesn't understand a single word of German except for "Bier" or "Tschüss" maybe but has to evaluate my channel; then sees it's all video games with a >80% match. Of course he says "repetitive" or "not meaningful" and flags my channel for demonization.

But when I would make videos about opening loot boxes or card packs and hold my ugly ass face into the camera it's of course """unique""" and not repetitive at all because it doesn't have a high percentage match.

And that's how you flood your platform with this kind of shit.

I've heard from a lot people making film analysises and reviews suffer from the same problem because their videos got a high percentage match of material that is "used in other videos".

It's a shit show and I know why many people have a patreon account or switched to Twitch where you can earn money by sitting in your chair or tub unless (only applicable if you're hot, mind you).

I stopped trying to cater to YouTube anymore. Channel is again demonetized. But it's way too much effort and trouble for the small amount of money I've got out of it so I'll just leave it.

fuck off YouTube.
You're the first person I've seen go through the exact same as me. I had a small channel (around 20k subs) that, at my peak, would net me about 500 bucks a month. This was great since I only put a couple hours a week worth of effort into it.

I did this for about 10 years. Never changed up my formula (though obviously improved in many ways). Then all of a sudden: ''poof'' Partnership gone. All the money I had saved up got frozen. Reason? Same as yours. My content wasn't ''original'' and too ''repetitive'' and even hinted at it possibly being stolen from other channels (All of my footage is my own).

I reapplied for my partnership after making absolutely sure that there wasn't any content that would go against these rules. Like deleting two video's that showed a mere snippet of a game trailer. And one of my friends video's that I uploaded in order to give him some clout.

Got my partnership again. Fast forward three weeks and I lost it again. And then again. Same reason.

I contacted YouTube helpdesk and I simply asked them to tell me which video(s) in question were breaking these rules and they quite literally told me that they weren't allowed to. Like what the fuck? I have over 300 video's or whatever. How are you not allowed to tell me which video's are breaking these guidelines?

Two of my friends are nearing 100k subs right now, making upwards of 5K a month for making the same content as me. Shit even left them dumbfounded since they never even recieved a single complaint from Youtube's side.

Anyway I'm done venting. Reading through your experience helped me cope with it quite a bit since I couldn't find anyone else who had gone through the same. Thanks for sharing.

Act Man should've just taken the L instead of turning it into his life's mission to get someone's channel banned.

He took his shot, got denied, and then doubled and tripled down that he'd get someone banned when he didn't have any authority to actually do so and everyone knows that YT rules are selectively enforced at best. I was with him criticizing someone else, but starting a crusade to get someone's channel banned was cringe as fuck.

I'd call it a Pyrrhic victory getting the major YouTubers and Twitch streamers to back him up in his last video, but Pyrrhus actually won something.

If Odysee had an app that played while the phone was sleeped I would use it a lot more. I've been using it more at home and I really like it. Like it in it's own right, not just as a protest of youtube.

The Act Man is a very popular gaming youtuber. Youtube decided to demonetize his entire channel after he complained about getting an unfair strike for one of his videos.

Charlie explains the whole situation pretty well in his video:

Essentially:
  1. Act Man gets a strike for "nudity and sexual content" for photoshopping a cucumber into somebody's mouth
  2. He never gets a chance to edit the video
  3. He then complains on Twitter about the whole situation because he has nobody to talk to at Youtube
  4. Youtube then decides to basically nuke his entire channel out of spite
The Act Man has recently produced some critical videos about Blizzard, Halo and various other companies. Dude is legit funny, produces some well thought-out content and we need independent content creators like him.
Once again Youtube shows how little it cares about its content creators. Your entire existence can be snuffed out in the blink of an eye.

I liked The Act Man and im not a fan of souls games but one thing I know for sure is to keep Elden Ring out my mouth. Act Man would still be on YouTube if he would’ve left it alone, don’t let other peoples opinion affect your income.

Dark Souls is my favorite video game of all time, but some of these From Software/Elden Ring fanboys love the game to the point of mental illness. Attempt to launch even valid criticisms against the game and they'll go off the deep end.

Imagen taking the side of disgusting people like QuatumTV. When I saw ActMans Elden Ring review I had a bad feeling when he spent so much time criticizing QTVs complaints. Didn't think YouTube would simp so hard for low lives like QTV, though.

"Haha, im so superior I did not notice this random's humans existence. My schedule is so full. Let me post in the thread so everyone knows and hopefully trigger some snowflakes."

Im old. I dont know every e-celeb too. Do not give a shit about most of them. But this type of shitpost joke is just so tired.

People who say "oh too bad now they have to go get a real job" is just sad old boomers, angry because they've made bad life decisions and can't play video games all day, make videos about it and earn money. Or jealousy.

Either way, this is actually people's livelyhood that gets taken away by unfair means. I would like to see how you guys would react if something like that happened to you.
I've had it happen to me last year, and I have had to switch careers. It sucks, but that's reality. Like it or not, youtube is not a job, it is income. They don't give you a 401K and a Christmas bonus. They are not an employer.
That being said, I think youtube is 100 percent wrong in this case, and QTV is quite insufferable as a personality.

Buhh buhhh but bro it's a company they can do what they please! /s

Mass used platforms as YouTube and Twitter should be (in a enhanced form) the same as an old school libraries where everyone has free acces to (because they're so interwoven in our current culture/communication/information/ etc) instead of these money making manipulating censoring corporations that fly where the money is AND indoctrinate our future 'leaders' 1984 all over again; wrong think; instant removal.

Is this real life?

Dont forget people, it's a tip toe strategy.. now it's a youtuber next is.. and so forth. And because they're taking there time (hence tip toe) it'll normalize. It really will.

twitch is his only other option and that's a whole different thing, and they will ban you for little to no reason at all too
Yikes. Seems like the first thing you need to do if you have any sort of success on YouTube is immediately make investments so you don't need YouTube. I guess that can be said for anything in life, but the amount of uncertainty going on there is pretty alarming.

When a platform is used by billions to share social interaction, view massive amounts of independent videos (mostly like DiY and documentations) it's mindboggling those platforms are privately owned and can censor whatever they feel like ( not taking about Hitler celebrations ofcourse)
