And you want me to believe him now that I'm not 'forced' to spend a cent in a f2p game? Hilarious.
You're not forced to at all. Much like a lot of F2P mobile games. But if you can't contain your spending, then approach with caution, lol.

good. games that do this need the bad publicity.

Remember when BattleFront II had to chance everything because someone figured out it would take like 240 hours to unlock darth vader or some nonsense

too bad nobody cared enuff about Anthem to complain about its currency issues. I put like 100 hours into that game and still didn't earn enuff ingame currency to afford an armor set lol
Most definitely. ESPECIALLY when they're full priced titles that contain predatory monetization. Fortunately a lot of those devs have had things blow up in their face.

But F2P mobile gaming? It's a different beast unfortunately. I don't know how and if we'll ever come back from that. It makes way too much money.

You had to pay for Battlefront 2.
And it was a console game right when lootbox and mtx anger was at its peak.

This is a mobile game during a time when mobile gacha filled pay for everything games are thriving.
Bad publicity?
This game is gonna be raking it in.

I find it amazing people can enjoy playing games staring at a 5 inch screen with their thumbs covering the screen using touch controls.

The last cellphone game I played was that Nibbler kind of game for my Nokia brick phone over 20 years ago.

Just as you aren’t with any MTX but "Forced" was manabytes term when referring to another game hence the quotes and why I find his new stance here funny.
Now he's pretending that this game isn't designed around trying to 'force' you to spend money on MTXs but that this thread is 'stupid outrage, you don't have to spend a penny'.
In Diablo in the news source you can maximize your character without spending money, but it would take an average of 10 years to do so.
In the other thread he was going insane with the outrage for far less. Even asking reviewers to drop their scores.

Right?! I've been playing on PC cause it's free, so why not? If I had it on my phone it'd be while I'm praising the porcelain god, or right before bed. But that's really it.

I guess the people that spend the most time and money on these games are on public transportation/travel a great deal of time.

We have the option of Not Playing this game now, but if its astonishingly greedy and exploitative monetization scheme proves successful, it will encourage more of the same behavior from the industry.
Meaning that our options for playing games that are Not Like This will dwindle.

As an alternative to stroking the hate boner to this, people could just play the game till they tire of it without spending any cash at all rivialing the play time of many full priced AAA games out there.

There's a really weird bubble when it comes to games like this where there's a ton of hate on gaming enthusiasts sites yet many mobile games like this go on to rake in a ton of money from the people who enjoy playing them.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
These stupid clickbait outrage threads need to stop. You can play the entire game without spending a cent. The outrage here only applies to people who want to min/max in a PVE game.
Seriously. My girlfriend has been playing for free on her 2017 iPad. People with bad spending habits project their own failure to have self control on game developers.

That’t intense. Games should really have a cap. Its gambling at that point,
I live in Las Vegas. I don't gamble.

But at least with gambling you win real money and you actually play the video poker and slot machines specifically for gambling. It's not some video game with a story where the gambling is on the side trying to draw you in. You're aware right from the get-go that you're gambling.

Vote with your wallet and don’t support this. Creating outrage won’t solving anything since whales exist and are happy wasting all their money on f2p games and they have been for years now.
This ship has sailed a long time ago.
I can both: "vote with my wallet" AND express my annoyance with people who nonchalantly act like this nonsense is even passively acceptable. It's pathetic to see how many of you just accept this as normal now. That's the entire problem, you've all accepted this BS. "The ship has sailed" only because we allowed it to by accepting it in the first place.

To be fair, I dont think the typical gamer on a forum like GAF is the same as a mobile user paying mtx while playing on a bus.

Then again, maybe the average forum gamer is bullshitting and they do tons of mtx like the usual Candy Crush gamer. Who knows.

But putting on my business hat, money talks and if a mobile mtx/p2w game is a giant money maker supported by incontrollable whales with millionaire pockets, then they'll make the game.

Similarly, if the game is supported instead by millions of gamers all chipping in $5 or $10 here or there, it can be the same outcome. They'll make the game.

Although most of us here surely prefer to play $70 kinds of games the traditional way, whose to say that we get preference for our types of games if the mobile crowd is double the sales according to those pie charts shown in the past?

Dont get me wrong, I think mobile gaming is shit and never done it. I'd prefer if all devs focused on traditional games, but they are just following the money. And that mobile crowd seems to have bottomless pockets.

Yet, you were in the GT7 threads acting like MTX was the deathknell of the game. Yet here you are defending this title now that it has been purchased by your personal favorite plastic box manufacturer, despite the fact the MTX in this game is objectively worse than GT7 in every single conceivable way.

You know what? I honestly don't mind. If someone is that retarded to spend that kind of money so be it. Hopefully those whales end up funding big AAA games from MS.
Except that isn’t what happens. Companies have begun to change their focus on catching these whales by putting lesser and weaker monetization and Skinner box concepts into their products, slowly increasing them until people become numb to them. You want genuinely fantastic titles? Call this shit out. Don’t defend it because of retarded as fuck console wars.

That’t intense. Games should really have a cap. Its gambling at that point,
Exactly. And that is why these games are banned in a number of countries and rightfully so. Its why we need to keep pushing in larger nations like the US as well. This shit will stop when they legally can’t continue to push it anymore.

Also important to note that that is only 10 years with its current content. They will continue to move the bar so you need to play for longer and you will never catch up as a free to play player. You will *always* be subpar compared to anyone who has paid even a little and plays a bit less.

Games like this are specifically designed to exploit people with less self control.

I also tried to play some mobile games for free in the past. I remember a defence game where i couldn't use some towers unless i paid. And without those it was literally impossible to beat. There was no strategy involved. No balance. You either had these weapons in order to beat the game or not.

This kind of shitty design is bad wether you pay or not.

what? A mobile f2p game that is packed with MTX? I am truly shocked.

when it comes to no f2p games that you can “pay-to-win” in gt7 you can spend over 4k usd to own all of the cars.

"We look at how people spend," Dale told the DCMS committee. "And the highest level of spend in Candy Crush in 2018 was $2,600 in a day, and that is a large amount of money, but what that player bought was 25 $106 bundles, which they then used over a six-month period. Then after they depleted that they bought another 10 packages of 106 each, and both times there was a sale on so they were making a rational decision. It's down to player choice if that's what they want to do."
But it was on deal! That's one way to spin big mtx spending. lol

I am always astonished how people play these games... it's not even a good game if it didn't have this p2w shit, it's like Diablo Shit Edition from the gameplay side of things.

JUST BUY FUCKING DIABLO 3... like... wtf?

People who game riding a bus don’t seem to want pay for better games in console or PC.

Agreed but what he's saying is deceitful nonsense.

"These stupid clickbait outrage threads need to stop. You can play the entire game without spending a cent."

Really, in a f2p game designed to milk money from you. Sure Jan.

I mean where did this sort of 'don't need to spend a cent' thinking go for GT7 when he was saying shit like this:

And you want me to believe him now that I'm not 'forced' to spend a cent in a f2p game? Hilarious.
Not directed at anyone particular but with all these games people talk about now it’s clear that people just don’t want to see this talk when it’s a game they like, they just go into defense mode; lalalala it’s optional!!1!

I get that it’s hard to criticise something you love but sometimes it’s needed. Mobile gaming has been ruined for a long time because of this nonsense, and it’s spreading, soon we’ll buy runes as mtx in Elden Ring too.

This game doesn't even deserve attention. Piece of crap.
Thousands of people disagree with you. Face it, it's reviewing well and people are enjoying it:

In lvl 45 enjoyed every second of it , didn't spent a single cent on it , this is literally min maxing the pve pvp builds. Just ignore this bs give the game a chance its a solid mobile game
good luck convincing some people to do that :messenger_tears_of_joy: the people hating on it probably never intend to play it. it's been "cool" to hate on the game for the last 3-4 years and now it's out and actually fun people are desperate to keep shitting on it. it's getting good reviews, it's a fun game, and i'm sure soon enough we'll hear how successful it has been.

it's always funny hearing the talking points from the delusional. "You don't have to spend any money!"

dude, it's a game about min/maxing your gear. And the best gear are all locked behind a paywall. Sure, you can grind it technically, but it takes DECADES. The conditioning starts immediately as it forces you to visit the store to get daily login rewards. The core game design is tied around spending money, as it doesn't brickwall you until mid game to ease you in and give you that false sense of security. It's just part of the emotional manipulation.

No one is saying a f2p game shouldn't have monetization, but there are ways to do it that are less exploitative and predatory than this game.

A reminder that this game is made by NetEase (collaborating with Blizzard), a company notorious for heavy p2w schemes in their games.
