It Costs $110,000 to Fully Gear-Up a single character in Diablo Immortal

Someone has calculated how much it costs to fully upgrade a character in Diablo: Immortal

Bellular News' recent video, is that Diablo Immortal allows players to buy the so-called Legendary Gems. These are one of the characters' three progression pillars alongside regular gear and XP level, and they dictate one's endgame-tier progression beyond what is possible simply by reaching Diablo Immortal's level cap. As of right now, F2P players cannot earn top-rated Legendary Games, which are only available via some of the game's monetization options, and fully maxing-out a character effectively costs $110,000 in the game's current economy. Matt and Michael of Bellular News also make an argument that Diablo Immortal's Legendary Gems are a deliberately convoluted system, explaining that it would take roughly 10 years of playtime for a F2P player to fully kit out a character in the game's current iteration. Specifically, Legendary Gems aren't even a guaranteed drop for paying players, as they are only randomly awarded upon purchasing Legendary Crests (i.e. loot boxes) - which may be the reason why Diablo Immortal didn't launch worldwide.

Alternatively, you can maximize your character without spending money, but it would take an average of 10 years to do so.

The fact that more than half the people in this thread think this is fine IS THE PROBLEM that we've been forever warning you about. We're now at the point where you're just accepting this shit. Gaming is officially dead
Vote with your wallet and don’t support this. Creating outrage won’t solving anything since whales exist and are happy wasting all their money on f2p games and they have been for years now.

The sad thing about mobile and how so many games are F2P and rely on mtx to make huge profits, is that these kinds of games must be played by a different kind of gamer and mentality set.

Typically, console and PC gamers sit back play higher end games, usually buy their games (unless they play a F2P game too), and given what you get the gamer base is pretty frugal as whole not wanting to get ripped off, buy on bargain deal, saving a buck if a sub plan seems better value than buying, maximizing trade in values at EB etc.... Pay some money and try to get the bang for your buck.

With mobile gamers, some reason this pool of gamers have bottomless pockets playing shitty games on the go.

If youre going to spend some big cash on gaming, you'd think they'd pour it into console/PC hardware and games, but it goes to F2P, pay to win, grindfest, GAAS smartphone games.

Anyone knows why this seems the case.

I just wont spend any money in the game.

The problem is that other companies see that and want to follow, so instead of funding AAA games, they want to make more of these games.
You do know almost all of these console to mobile games are mostly developed by China for pocket change to the IP holders.
They get the money and use it to make what they actually want to make.
Let the Chinese devs make these mobile games with their IPs, reap the rewards and continue on, business as usually with fat pockets of money.

Yup.

If I was a game maker and had the resources to make lots of games, I'd do what Blizzard is doing. You make the traditional game for console/PC, and a snake oil mobile F2P mtx game for the cellphone gamers.
Best of both worlds. Left fist has console/PC money. Right fist has smartphone money.
Its not even that deep.
Get a skeleton crew from your dev team to oversee the development of the game while the actual developers are in China getting paid peanuts.
Its not even resource intensive to release these titles (for IP holders).
Its basically free money.
If gamers didnt actually pay in these games devs would stop greenlighting these games, but clearly people want to spend money, if they(the players) are having fun, the devs are enjoying making money.....a couple people complaining aint gonna stop shit.

Gaming is dead is some ol'bullshit it just left some people behind.

In his defense GT7 is not F2P and cost full priced on PS5 it 70 lol
Agreed but what he's saying is deceitful nonsense.

"These stupid clickbait outrage threads need to stop. You can play the entire game without spending a cent."

Really, in a f2p game designed to milk money from you. Sure Jan.

I mean where did this sort of 'don't need to spend a cent' thinking go for GT7 when he was saying shit like this:

Taking the Star Citizen route I see.

It's like they intentionally designed the game to force people into buying $40 digital cars.

Because they intentionally designed the game to give you credits so slow it forces people into buying the MTX.

And you want me to believe him now that I'm not 'forced' to spend a cent in a f2p game? Hilarious.

I wonder how Japan deals with all of this, since it's the home of the gatcha games, far worse than this. This is nothing new, but it just reminds us all how much thirst there is for a new Diablo, such a beloved franchise.

good. games that do this need the bad publicity.

Remember when BattleFront II had to chance everything because someone figured out it would take like 240 hours to unlock darth vader or some nonsense

too bad nobody cared enuff about Anthem to complain about its currency issues. I put like 100 hours into that game and still didn't earn enuff ingame currency to afford an armor set lol

Yuuuup, it's all I've been trying to say. All of these "new" practices aren't new at all. I'm by no means defending them of course. But do we really need multiple threads about these things as if they haven't existed before? It's ridiculous, lmao. You wanna check it out for free? By all means! But I'd be very careful with your wallet.

slow news day huh?
For REAL. Slow several years for some people. I have no idea how they haven't heard of these practices before. They've existed for years. It should've been known it was gonna end up like this as soon as it was announced. I sure as hell wasn't surprised, lol.

I’m sure we’ll get a couple more of these tomorrow.
Yup, we've already had, what? 3? Each one bloated with folks completely shitting on others for enjoying the game at all in the slightest. Even in the OT. Wild group of crusaders they were/are, lmao.

Let's eradicate your outdated vision of 'how videogames should be'. Don't be afraid of burst your bubble; you will be amazed how amazing this industry and medium is. (Better than ever in fact)
