I don't see Nomura's name. Now I'm way more hyped and excited about the game.

they didnt show enough. im still trying to figure out what kind of game this is.

Same. Kinda underwhelmed from what we saw honestly. We know this company/series can do good art direction, and that's all I got from that trailer. We legit saw nothing such that I'm actively looking forward to the game; right now it exists and I'll be watching out for it, but until we get some idea about gameplay. . .cautious.

I can say for sure that I'm not a fan of straight up action in this, but it looks like turn based FF (or ATB FF) is done and dead, so we kind of just have to live with it.

Holy balls. I guess the Summons are called Eikons this time around? I dig it, nice subtle reference to FFIX and the Summoner tribe. Also pretty sure a line with "strife," was intentional for the trailer. Garuda looking a lot the XIV version. These are the little nods I caught on first viewing.

Also, when the UI came up and I saw the Summon names, THAT got me. These huge, epic battles and you get to control Summons that look as large and visually impressive as the ones in XV? It's not just a scene that plays? Fuck yes.
Eikon is the same term used for FFXIV to describe summons. Your Warrior of Light even ends up dubbed Eikon Slayer for the first parts of the story lol.

I know it's a different division, but I'm still surprised Nomura didn't worm his way into character designer.
I would be totally fine with Nomura since I'm a fan, but it's good to have other artstyles since I'll see him with FFVIIR and KH. Akihiko Yoshida on FFXIV, too.

While combat looks great, I do hope that with it being a year out the UI is placeholder.
I'm sure you will be able to adjust the UI and other elements like the pop-up numbers. I generally don't play anything with a UI once I memorize where everything is so this really doesn't affect me. It is weird though I have been playing no HUD so long I always look at UI and HUD comments and forget they are a thing. You should try it sometime it is much more immersive.

As someone that has barely played any FF this is badass. I saw people complaining on fb posts about it. Why though? Like for vets of the series what does it seem like the game is similar to? XV? Also how do summons work? I want to learn

I like numbers flying in RPG's to know how much damage I did, but yeah if they allow it I will for sure.

I won't lie, FFXIV is my blindspot, only main numbered entry I haven't played.

'Awful' is a bit of a stretch.
No honestly it looks awful to me, see gifs above with all the spicy fighting effects and drab environments. I dislike the character design as well.
Doesn't feel like Final Fantasy or maybe this is what is has turned into...kinda like that crossover Nioh/FF game.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Seeing as you conduct the hype train I'd like to ask, what's keeping the engine's from blazin? Worried the boiler might blow?
Currently?
Generic characters & the game looks a bit flat.
Graphically it's okay if this was FFXVI Online but I wouldn't say it in the same level as FFVIIR
Summons do look fantastic but what the trailer is suggesting with each character being a Summon and they fight each other?.
yeah I'm not entirely sure about that.
Still could be the best FF in years but I'm not convinced yet.

This character designer and Art Director is Final Fantasy as hell though.

They're going to make the entire main scenario soloable over the course of the current patch series if you wanna try when 7.0 hits. Definitely worth it.

I swear to god, if this doesn’t have playable party members…
This is kind of the thing, as they veer more toward specific combat (especially action) and story ideas, you start to wonder how they’re going to handle this part.

Yeah, I rewatched it, and the gameplay shows potential.

This trailer got me excited about the story and visuals. Now I need to be sold on everything else, namely combat, exploration and character progression.

But I'll be patient. We still have one year to go.

Honestly, if party members gets into the way the director invisioned combat, I rather they just scratch it entirely so as to avoid a XV scenario.

But honestly, if they want to implement them, just adapt FF 7 Remake system into it, namely almost freezing time to issue commands.

That trailer was fire, I'm really excited for this game. Its going to be a 1 man adventure instead of a party? Interesting changes.

This looks like it may be the best Final Fantasy game released in many, many years, I'm talking back before even FF13 released (a weaker game though I like it), but all games have gotten weaker than even that one since.

This could be the best Final Fantasy singleplayer JRPG since PS1 days, since FF9. I've been doing a whole lot of reading up on all the lore related to this. What the dominants are, and all that other stuff. Best world building they've done in a while.

This is the first game where I've been legitimately jealous it isn't on my Series X, but that's what I have my PS5 for.

Source? I would love this honestly.
It was from the Future of FFXIV Live Letter stream.
  • Towards this end, the Trust system (NPCs) will grow to be compatible with all main scenario dungeons and 4-player trials will be added through patch 6.1 through 6.5. These will be added incrementally.

Well, they're certainly inheriting the FF14 faux MMO cluttered UI as well, along with the aesthetic.
I’m seriously waiting for it to say “radical 50-hit chain!” and start adding up points on the right hand of the screen. I don’t know why all that shit is there in that huge font. Unnecessary flashy shit that just draws away from the action.

It looked quite weird to me.
I'm not really sure how to explain it but it gave me vibes of these old fake gameplay CGI PS3 E3 trailers. By that I don't mean that it looks like these, of course it looks better, but it gives me an impression of fake / pre rendered. Some of the combat scenes in particular didn't really look like actual gameplay footage, even if there was some UI visible, but more like some scripted sequences.

I don't know, strange.
