Perf mode also looks far better at 1080p now. It's now hard to tell the difference from quality mode which wasn't the case before. I'm glad I waited to play it.

FSR 2.0 is not a magic silver bullet it's just a generalized TAA solution. If a game already have it's own working solution there is no real need to swap it out with AMD's.

Well it's clear that they utilized some tool they didn't have before, whether it be FSR 2.0, Insomniac tool, or whatever. This is easily a day/night level of difference to the point where I would be interested in an explanation for why they didn't have this TAA at their disposal up to this point.

As it stands, I prefer performance over fidelity mode because any excess detail in 4k mode is getting lost in motion. Bring on 40fps/VRR.

Has anything improved with the fidelity mode as well since the latest patch ?

Can't see any difference only wish is they add higher shutter on the motion blur to make that mode smoother at 30 fps.

Tried the patch and 60fps is the way to go now

The drop in fidelity is minescule now

What wizardry did GG pull off here?

Enhanced their TAA.

Took some comparison shots. I think they might have toned down the lighting a tad but its really hard to notice in screenshots. Looks like they toned down the volumetric fog in performance mode to gain some performance.

the biggest fix outside of the shimmering issue with the foliage is how poor the settlements looked before. they were like a vaseline covered mess with low res textures. now they look just as good as they do in fidelity. I would love to know how they fixed this and why it took so long.

Now the shimmering is gone, can they bring back the wind system? Now all the trees looks fucking static.

Man. Just got my PS5 from the May 26 Direct drop delivered today, spent all day getting everything installed/upgraded/transferred over, and then they drop this bombshell.

Can't wait to go in and replay the game on New Game+ and have a much better experience than playing on the PS4 Pro.

Blaming tvs and some people thinking it was because the game is 1800p in performance mode. Glad I was right in thinking it was just a visual glitch. Game seems way better than the first,do you need to have played the first?

Nice! Seems like a huge update, it’s gonna be awesome jumping into this, thanks Elden Ring for making me pause the playthrough early 👌

I started NG+ and I can't put the controller down. This looks to be more than a resolution bump. There's no way the HDR wasn't enhanced either directly or indirectly somehow I know it's not in my head. Very well done Guerrilla. Again I just want to know what they did and wondering how the upcoming 40fps mode will push fidelity further. Chasing native 4k seems more wasteful by the day.

Testing out the performance mode on my PS5 now and it looks significantly better, cannot notice any shimmering.

EDIT : Holy shit, this looks way better.

EDIT 2 : I'm losing my shit over how good this game looks, just wow!!!
This is what I wanted to hear.
Still haven't played through the first half of the game, I think. Bought the game day 1, but the shimmering in performance mode was absolutely terrible and 30fps just doesn't feel right.

Also, my A90J is ready for 40fps mode. 😎
