Holy balls. I guess the Summons are called Eikons this time around? I dig it, nice subtle reference to FFIX and the Summoner tribe. Also pretty sure a line with "strife," was intentional for the trailer. Garuda looking a lot the XIV version. These are the little nods I caught on first viewing.

Also, when the UI came up and I saw the Summon names, THAT got me. These huge, epic battles and you get to control Summons that look as large and visually impressive as the ones in XV? It's not just a scene that plays? Fuck yes.

a new new FF? and it seems weird when people complain about too many Uncharted god of war halo Forza or Gear ......... damn ff 16 ....... 16

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

16 games in like... 33 years.

How many Gears of War or Uncharted games do you think there will be by 2040?

Loved the music, the focus on summons, parts of the combat look fun, and I'm in for a dark political storyline.

But idk, I need time to digest what this game is gonna be. I'm SO disinterested in Clive, the lack of a party is total BS, and I want to see a confirmation that the game is gonna have gorgeous CG cutscenes. The war scenes look great but that's not gonna cut it for me lol

Tired of ADHD gameplay but I have faith in Yoshi P. If the story, art, music and exploration are good then I can endure the gameplay I think.

This game is going to be absolutely amazing. So I wont admit how many times I've watched the trailer already.... but, You can see the action wheel looks like you get at least 4 different moves per Eikon as well as a standard set. Everyone complaining about the combat already it shouldn't be like FFXV think DMCV as it has the same combat director. Also jump canceling and combo continuation was already found in the last trailer.

Edited to add: Yea watch the trailer the combat looks pretty interesting, He was in Shiva's moveset/stance cast blizzard to freeze the enemy then switched to Ramuh lightning strike then Garuda with a grapple pull to stun before finishing it off.
Seeing Bahamut's Megaflare...Goosebumps!
Won't lie I am the biggest ODIN stan ever and seeing him fight Bahamut did give me Goosebumps.

I know it's a different division, but I'm still surprised Nomura didn't worm his way into character designer.

In haven’t felt such a warm giddy excitement for a Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy 9 & 10

I haven't felt anything for the franchise since X. World of Final Fantasy and the VII remake are the closest I've come to reigniting my interest but I'm currently finishing intergrade on PS5 though I got upto the Shinra HQ with Red XIII on PS4. Really didn't like the way they changed the game and WOFF got really tedious really quickly with that Kingdom Hearts shit that it adopts.

Honestly, Clive as the protagonist hahaha, seriously, Clive. FFS. The world looks so generic now that this reminds me of FFXII where they've slapped the FF name on a non-FF title. Visually it looks okay. Script seems very SE. Characters still have poor facial animation, specifically in regards to pop syncing and the over the top tongue flicking. The music seems pretty average, the combat looks fun as does this summon fight thing but the world and characters look uninspired. Also, did anyone else get serious Stranger in Paradise vibes? Especially with the chaos comment hahaha.

Looks awesome. In Yoshi P I trust, this will be the best mainline entry since at least 12.
Combat looks nice, if they are going with real time I'm a fan of the idea of going all in with a fast action based combat system. Seems like there's some summon battles too, hopefully those are good and not all style zero substance like in FFXV.

Story also seems interesting, the world and tone seem a bit more mature and less cringe anime than usual for Square Enix.

Summer 2023 is a bit disappointing but as long as it's really polished and complete feeling when it comes out I'm ok with it.

FF changes a lot from one game to the other. Each new mainline entry is a new world, new story and cast of characters, new art direction, new game mechanics and gameplay type, etc. That's why no one cares how many they are, because it's basically always a new IP with some very loose common elements.

It looked so much like a visual upgrade to FFXIV. I mean I know it's a lot of the same people working on it but still.

Looks good, sounds good, only gripe is then using the same kinda font they use in FF14. Crisp otherwise, definitely has a nice blend between western imagery while maintaining the mythos.

Man, totally diggin the grittier darker vibe. Could this be the FF I always imagined I was playing when looking at those sprites of FFVI instead of that anime bullshit that everyone else seemed to think?

This is an instance, where I wish Square Enix had followed-up on their own channels with additional in-game information about the world, game mechanics, and such. As stands, we essentially got a trailer for a character-action game. I recognize brand identity has gotten fuzzy and hopefully the game is entertaining, but nothing that was shown makes me interested in this as a new, mainline Final Fantasy.

No party is disappointing. It will probably be a good game, but not what I want from the series. Might get it on sale on PC down the line if the reviews/impressions are good.

Yo wait a second .... this game is bloody as hell. Garuda gets up and literally blows Ifrits arm off blood and shit spewing from the wound. 2 minute mark in the trailer.

Summer 2023 oof

Iffy on the ui. Hope it's a placeholder. I was hoping for something less jarring and more visually subtle yet appealing. Still my most anticipated game right now. Wish we could've seen some open world exploration as well in this trailer but until then I'll still be eagerly awaiting more news.
I’m getting ripped apart on Twitter, I think it looks like shit. I have no idea what the hell I’m looking at when I see it. It looks like a game that’s trying to be kingdom hearts and streetfighter, like war of the monsters or some thing I have no idea what the hell is going on. The identity crisis it seems to have really shows to me.

they didnt show enough. im still trying to figure out what kind of game this is.

if thats the battle then alright looks cool, but wheres the rest? exploration, traversal, towns, shops, chests, talking to NPCs, dialogue options, skill trees, magic, armor/weapons, chocobos, do we have a party or not, hell even just see what the menus look like. im really clueless as to what kind if FF this is going to be.

but its summer 2023 so we'll see a lot more in the comings months im sure. i just cant judge much from that trailer other than battle. and if FF16 just a battle sim and straight forward narrative ala FF13 im out, lol no thanks. lets hope not. wish we had more info
