Ukraine refugee feels traumatised watching people eat meat

Some choice quotes:
A woman who fled Ukraine has said she feels "isolated" after failing to find a vegan-friendly host.

Oksana Kopanitsyna said being in the same room as someone eating or preparing meat was like "someone was cutting a child in front of you".

Oksana said she feels "traumatised" watching people eat meat.

"How would it be for you if someone was cutting a child in front of you or keeping body parts in the fridge and you just see a hand or half of face? That is what it feels like for me."
Some fucking people...

You escaped a war torn country and someone has kindly offered you a roof and you have the audacity to pontificate this bullshit.

Fine. Be homeless because that's the choice.

Wait, this is vegan related? Maaaaan lol

I came in thinking this had something to do with being traumatized from seeing so much blood and gore from the war or something serious.

And the dehumanisation of the refugees begins.

COMING HERE TAKING OUR JOBS! (AND NOT EATING MEAT!)
That's not correct, if a single refugee is comparing meat consumption with cutting a child then they get called out.

Mockery of this individual where priority is around survival is not the same as dehumanising refugees.

Not all refugees are this stupid.

Baby steps. (unless you really think this really in the public interest on the BBC news website.)

I get your point but we've already had Nigel the cunt do a lot to stir up xenophobia. BBC news become trash a while ago, along with many of the biased political commentators.

Seems a bit odd for a local concern on an obscure article from the Wales tab of the bbc website is of such concern and outrage to OP and a few others.

Don't let any morsel go to waste on a bare plate.

Vegans and atheists. The two most annoying groups of people in existence.
Crossfitters and Ironman people too.

Years back there was this big push by a handful of ex-cowokers of mine all posting crossfit articles and pics of themselves on FB doing shit like obstacle courses in mud. That all disappeared literally in about two years. Either they quit doing it, or perhaps they still do it but dont post that stuff anymore.

Going by their recent pics, they look exactly the same as before.

Oh that atheist thing helped contextual and explains for me the source of outrage for certain types of personalities when someone on the far side of the planet makes a personal dietary choice.

It's not the choice. It's that they feel that someone, somewhere, is judging them for their choices. They can't take it without freaking out about it. lol. Such fragility.

Vegans and religious people. The two most annoying groups of people in existence.
I would had added crossfitters too, but seems like that died off. But I agree with you on vegans and religious people.

So much for keeping combative opinions within the walls of your own home. For many of these people, you'd think they are on some kind of corporate or church/mosque payroll to be promoting it at any time to anyone.

sigh 😞

Now imagine getting refugees from a country that is under a damaging dictatorship where the people are starving, having your government getting people out of there into your country and welcoming them and those people saying on media how shitty and bad your country is compared to where they came!

Because that happened with Venezuela and Portugal!

Now that is sad!!! People like to complain!

Yeah, that kind of in your face imposition can be a bit much.

OP's article isn't really clear where the author's opinion lies. The intersection does make it more broadly conversational for a Sunday "Lifestyle" piece on prioritizing, values and health.

Religious people don't seem as strict to dietary rules in challenging situations as most health people in my experience. I've seen vegans try to forage for berries in June rather than eat a fresh fish. I've seen Muslims eat ham sandwiches halfway through a hard days work after packing no lunch.

From the article it sounds like she actually found a vegan household to stay in but instantly got herself kicked out over some argument about veganism.
With views as unaccommodating to others as "being in the same room as someone eating or preparing meat was like "someone was cutting a child in front of you"." it would be difficult to find anywhere to place her.

It's not that unusual out here so it wouldn't be that hard to place her in my province, but could see most places being very difficult.

My family tree isnt very religious. Some people on the other sides of the family might do Sunday church, but for our side virtually nobody is religious. At least not that I've ever seen.

Then maybe 30 years ago, one of my aunts hooked up with a guy and got married. Out of nowhere she becomes a Jesus worshipper and she's telling the world about Sunday church and shit. For me, it wasnt an issue because she's not the kind of aunt I'd ever speak to back then (although she added me to FB), but she must had inundated my parents with constant religious shit back then because it got to a point they'd be talking at the dinner table pissed that she keeps calling them about it. At that time my parents were 50-ish and total old school. Not the kind of people to convert. So it pissed them off.

And even dumber is she lives in another city. So it's not like it'd ever be a family thing where they pray or attend church together.

I knew a vegetarian who compared slaughter houses to auschwitz. This lady isn’t far off. Seems to me she using her predicament to try and force her beliefs
