So what happened to that #FucKonami movement?

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
I still remember years ago people were having some movement over boycotting Konami because they fired Hideo Kojima. They swear they will never buy another Konami products again or something.
But it seems to have entirely disappear now. Konami / Silent Hill threads no longer have any FucKonami post at all, despite the sentiment that they no longer make any good games and has went all Pachinko in Konami profit threads

It was a bunch of children throwing a temper tantrum.

Over the last few years, Konami has put out some of the best retro game collections I've ever seen. Castlevania, Arcade classics, Castlevania Advance, Contra. All have ENG / Japanese versions, instruction booklets, artwork, and they're cheap. Getsu Fuma Den was not bad also.

If they decide to put out games, I'll check it out and assess the games.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Yes, I remember it well. Fat, greasy, B.O. wafting nerds taking to the streets shouting "FUCK KONAMI" and that classic call and response "What do we want?" "Kojima's jizz!" "Where do we want it?" "In our mouths!" The marches were only stalled when the occasional badly dressed fat fuck's pants fell off, displaying a skidmarked pair of skivvies that had likely never been washed. They burned down the mom n' pop game stores. They busted the windows out of Game Stops. They stormed the Walmarts, but invariably got distracted by the 32 can cases of Mountain Dew on sale. The revolution wasn't televised, you had to be there to see it in person, and hope the smell of jizz stained unwashed jeans didn't choke consciousness away from you.

It was more about Konami not making \ releasing any games at any capacity that was worth a damn.

I mean the company basically was a Bike riding at full speed, then they jammed a stick into the wheel and poof ... No Kojima, no Silent Hill, no Castlevanias, no good games, only Pachinko and stupid soccer games ... And whatever Metal Gear Survival was supposed to be...

It's hard to Hate a company that doesn't even release games anymore XD. Can't even boycott non-existing products !

Still have my gripes against them, and I would gladly go back to being angry at them given the chance... But yeah, probably not the best idea to essentially fire your head Designer after you just put him on two of your most important franchises.

That whole thing was over 7 years ago. Konami is barely in the video game industry at this point. They're pretty much just outsourcing their projects and licensing their IP. The damage was done. People moved on.

So I take it that if they really make a Silent Hill project for Playstation 5, people’s going to stick to FucKonami and boycott it?

The only actual good things they have done recently is revive Bomberman with an okay game and bringing back Snake for Smash Bros. with Castlevania content as well. I mean all you have to look at is this to know they haven't return to the glory days and may never will unless someone that respects those franchises them buys them out.

Easy day. I doubt it would even come down to my dislike of Konami at the end of it either.

I mean what's the scenario? "What if a new Silent Hill comes out, isn't a mobile game, is made by a competent studio and is actually good?" My disbelief refuses to be suspended.

All merit actually goes to M2 for these collections.

how can you boycott a company that releases (almost)no games? by not playing pachinko?

it was a pointless movement because konami destroyed themselves and that is the real tragedy, other than that free bomberman game for switch I have played nothing from them in a long time and I really miss them, at least I can play their amazing library of old games it was like a blast from the past the other day I watched a preview of the remake of poky and rocky and I remembered I never finished the legend of the mystical ninja(gambare goemon) back in the day Ill convince my brother and play it

That's true, but you can't divorce Konami from it entirely. They get credit as well. They own all the games, paid M2 to repackage it, provided them with the old artwork materials, and sold them for a relatively affordable price to consumers. Multiple solid remaster collections. They can get some credit from me.

Then why do people keep making Silent Hill threads in the past few years? That isn’t a sign of people moving on

Konami died after Kojima got fired and Igarashi left, killing 2 of my favorite series, I haven't touched their games since MGS5 and have no desire to do so.

In a football obsessed nation like the UK, boycotting Konami - the Godzilla maker of footy sims, even their efootball 2022 is world's better than the competition despite being a far cry from PES 2021 - isn't an option.

Hopefully people realised it was Kojima at fault, dude was bleeding Konami dry.

MGSV, was pretty poor in every way except the gameplay what massively carried the game.

Game is a 6/10 at best imo.

Konami on the other hand have released some excellent compilations of their older titles for low prices and some other games and continued to have record profits each year now.
Hopefully they make some triple a titles again in the future.

So it was Kojima that cancelled PT and out of spite removed it from the PS store to make it inaccessible? It was Kojima that whored out its IPs for Pakchno including Silent Hill? It was Kojima that released Metal Gear Survive and CHARGED for extra save files?

GTFO here with that trash.

For all the talks of "duhr duhr Konami is only in the Pachinko business these days", Konami was actually the second biggest third-party publisher in Japan during 2021 and biggest one during 2020 (in term of annual physical software sold).
Mostly on the back of old Hudson Soft IPs and baseball games.
It had a surge since the low in 2017, particularly due to them exploiting well the chances offered by the Switch.
