That's why we will have to wait and see. I understood your original point clearly, and the data set for Japanese games obviously has to be treated with more nuance than the western one. It can go well or go horribly but I'm not jumping to instant reactions or conclusions like the rest of the thread.


It's relating to when some western games have secondary characters to help move the plot along, sometimes these same companies will insert a poc just to be a poc or simply just to help or hurt the main character with zero afterthought about said secondary characters. However, if they're written more complex, we can end up with more complex storytelling overall. Part of this tool's supposed purpose is to help with that issue.

You would just change from the actual stereotypes to new ones at best. To explain my view on this: this tool would not have changed GOT last season to breaking bad lvl of complexity. If I understand well you would like to see this tool used not just on character creation but also on cinematics in the goal to find lazy tropes for example? A tool like that would be amazing but too complex right now. Maybe in the future.

Markets used to dictate the end product but now they are ignored in favour of identity politics. This ideological posession has truly gone too far.

Even after the push towards diversity and inclusivity there is hardly a woman that plays most AAA games. I’d love to know the % of women that bought and played Returnal for example. I’d be surprised if it was more than 5%. Minorities in the west are still that, minorities. Alphabet individuals are <4%. I’m all for some degree of representation depending on the setting but there are certain things I don’t think should be normalised. We shouldn’t be rewriting history for diversities sake like we have witnessed in WW I and II games recently. Call me old fashioned but I still laugh at the idea of a woman going toe to toe with a guy twice their size. I know people like to pretend it’s realistic and can happen but no it’s bullshit.
