Too bad. Haven’t played the series since DoA4, but I remember that game being decent at least.

Bad news. DOA is one of my fav fighting IPs. DOA6 was great at it’s core but was ruined by the extreme grinding to unlock anything, I hoped they would realize the faults they made and correct it all in DOA7.

Dude shut your mouth. You lucky u on Gaf and my hands are tied.

Bash anything but bashing DoA is not acceptable. You walking fine line there boy. No one says bad about my waifus
Excuse me DOA bashing is not only acceptable, it’s encouraged! Regardless of how many 17 year old lava lamp space titties they shake in your face, this single cell mucus of a game series would do better as a dress up sim or as DLC for those text to speech 3D animated spyware porn games they advertise on Pornhub

Speaking of doa3, there's no way to play that game correctly unless you play it on an original Xbox with the original controller to my knowledge. Doa3 had moves that used the pressure sensitive buttons that the Xbox had. So trying to play an updated version will lead to a loss of a bunch of moves smh.
I know it's compatible on the 360 but I don't think that had analogue face buttons.
Even on the OG Xbox it's hard to find an original controller in good condition, all the buttons are mushy and it's hard to pull of the moves that require it. The third party controllers seem to lack analogue support also.

Yup.
Thinking about it, doa3 was a Xbox original launch title too, that was great too.
The various versions off doa2 were great too, ultimate being the best version. (I had the dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox versions) haha
DOA2, DOA3, DOA4 was great. Top tier visuals, cool counters and evolving interactive stages, made Tekken feel absolutely ancient.

DOA5 played great and generally speaking I liked the new designs. But you could see where they were going with the DLC frenzy.

DOA6 is at it’s core great, mechanically it delivers, but they completely ruined it with the grinding needed to unlock stuff and the kid characters and strange costumes multiplied, performance was rocky too.

I still think DOA since DOA2 has always looked cooler than competing fighting game because of the counters and how stages evolve, I like that it’s more forgiving too, can’t count frames anyway.

Good...

I mean look at this shit.

Ma92hNc.jpg

461 pieces of DLC on top of a full priced game...

The only game that can compete with this shit is train simulator. This shit used to be unlockable for playing the game...

omfg this is one of the wildest abuses of mtx I've ever seen in gaming.

I thought this shit was free to play? So you pay for a full priced game and then all this shit in order to get those outfits?

I understand that developers need the extra money, I get that when a game is DONE, some shit left on teh table.....but this sounds like it was made to move DLC vs simply being unlockable as when this existed for XB, Dreamcast, PS2 etc....you unlocked shit.

Right up there with "You only play it because of the boobs". We've all got real porn anytime we want so that's a stupid assessment. I remember playing the first one, in the arcade on the Sega model 2 hardware, way back in the late 90's. Shame there was no perfect port of that.

What if, like me, you're absolute crap at it and so the boobins are all I have?
For example my Internet could be down and I need to prepare for a hot date, BAM! Kasumi to the rescue.

The newer ones were filled with DLC and characters that act like retarded children because the Japanese like that kinda thing apparently.
I dont get this criticism.
Filled with DLC?
Were you actually expecting them to give you the costumes for free....noting 99% of the DLC is character costumes.

And which new characters act like retarded children?
Honoka?
Rig?
Marie Rose - Dont you dare.
Momiji?
Rachel?
Nyotengu?
Mila?
The Virtua Fighter 5 characters?
Mai Shiranui?
Kasumi Alpha?

Or if you are talking about DOA 6
Diego?
NiCO
Kula
Tamaki - Ill allow criticism of her character....but not as a retarded child.

It should count itself lucky enough to have lasted long after Itagaki left. Only ever played the third one myself, don't really wanna bust my 360 out to try DoA 4... 🙄

"hiroaki morita" has like 4 accounts and never developed a Dead or Alive game or works for Team Ninja

It's ok if forums like this post twitter stuff, but even legit websites are just reposting all that fake shit.
Should update the title then saying this is false news

Yup that’s exactly what happened. It’s essentially what Polyphony did with GT7 cars but for what is essentially just cosmetics, I remember someone doing the math on how many hours you’d need to play to unlock the things you can unlock, and added up the total cost if you would pay instead. I liked the game a lot but it still made me drop it because there was no pull for me to keep playing when unlocking became too much work. I want entertainment, not work. And you still couldn’t get everything through playing.

A big pull for me in fighting games has always been to unlock everything. Soul Calibur was pure perfection, even had a shmup on the VMU to 100% it. DOA1 and DOA2 was great too, Tekken 1 and Tekken 2 too, reasonable amount of unlockables to get all characters.

Unfortunately greed entered to the genre. They’re all bad now but from what I’ve played DOA6 is the worst. They tried to fix the in-game economics post release but it’s still bad.

The outfits are literally DLC.
Most characters already come with a shit ton of costumes in the base game.
Think of them as skins in other games that have ingame stores that use VBucks, CODpoints, Dickslammers or whatever fake currency the game chooses to use to mask the fact you are spending real money.
DOA just doesnt bother making you buy some fake currency with real money just so you can spend that fake currency in the ingame store.

Want a specific costume, just buy it directly and you know exactly how much youve spent.
None of that game currency only comes in multiples of 100 but items in the ingame store can cost multiples of 3, so you are all but guaranteed to reach a point you are like 1currency short of affording an item so now you have to buy another 100 to spend 1.

P.S In the "unlock days" there were alot less costumes I think Kasumi had like 7....and you still unlock a ton of costumes in the newer DOAs, they just have extra DLC costumes as well.

Looks like fake news, VGChartz should do their research before spreading this.

Hit and run tweet. Account opened and closed in less than a month linked to a fake email. No record of this person in the industry.

(Probably a bitter fan who paid out $500 on season passes!)

Def feels like there's some revisionist history going on here with "costume greed", the characters never had tons of costumes unless you paid for it.
Disregarding pallette swaps, ayane only had 6 costumes in doa 2, if you wanted more you had to buy doa 2: hardcore, and for even more, doa 2 ultimate.
In doa 3 she only had 3 costumes and there were no further updates.
Doa 4 also 6 costumes, and doa 5 was the same as doa 2, you had to buy doa 5 ultimate and then doa 5 last round to get more unlockable costumes.

In doa 6 she has 6 unlockable costumes as well, but there's only one version of the game that they kept updating, so you get to decide whether you want to spend money on an additional costume.

Tbh I thought most dlc costumes sucked ass so I bought a grand total of 2 of them: the ninja outfits for honoka and mariposa (omg not even lewd costumes?!).
I even bought the full pack for Kula, but thought her costumes were so damn awful I refunded the pack and then just bought her again without the costumes.

DoA2 was a dreamcast showpiece. It was a legit good game. DoA3 did the same for Xbox. DoA4 less so but it was still very good during 360 launch window. After that the series is dead to me. I tried 5, I just didn't like it.

I have DoA4 on Xbox Series S and I think its absolutely better than the sequels in terms of presentation, stages, music, gameplay.

Never did like DOA series when it comes to its gameplay. I was always in it for the b(.)(.)bies.

Something about the fighting mechanics that felt too button mashing that with the correct amount of taps you can just beat the opponent without much thought. Also the fighter attacks are so fast, it felt as if every attack is a fast light attack, lacking any sort of satisfying feeling after landing a strong attack.

It doesn't help that the attack doesn't look impressive.

It's hard to believe people still think about making these fan service games in our day and age. I don't care about these things(actually I love some boobs here and there) but there is a wild world out there. And I assume it's boundaries reaching to Japan very slowly.

To me Doa and Ninja Gaiden died after Itagaki left. Which is super sad as they were some of the games I had the most fun with on Xbox and Xbox 360.

DOA4 was great, but it didn’t feel that way with 5. I liked DOA2-4. 3 was really good, but the series felt like it didn’t change much. The 360’s enhancements and the characters of DOA4 made it stand out at the time. DOA2 was good on Dreamcast/PS2 and DOA3 was fun on Xbox. The game didn’t seem to change a whole lot.

What does that mean lmao?
That's the stupidest argument against doa (and there could be plenty made i.e. bullshit monetization, lack of support) ever. Like dude, stop playing xbox bro, there is a wild world out there xDD i spit beer reading that

Honestly I still love DOA4 and 5 (Ultimate/Last Round). 5 is a good game and the combat has a good risk-reward balance it. Build up stun on a ground combo to give your launcher more height, but the combo can be broken by a hold before that. So the longer the ground combo, the more chances to be broken, but the higher the launch and therefore more damaging combo. It’s good trust me.

The VF characters are sweet too and almost 1 to 1 versions of their VF5 iterations.

But man 6 just pisses that balance out the window to chase the trend of meter and super moves; such a shame they seemingly won’t build on 5’s system anytime soon. All the Titty DLC aside, 4 and 5 are fun games.

Considering how trash Tekken is (yes i've said it), if Virtua Fighter doesn't make a come back, and assuming Soul Calibur is done for now, the entire genre of 3D fighting games is officially dead.

Good.

Make a new Ninja Gaiden or Nioh or some new IP in that style instead of spending time on a horny weeb fighter.

Nah KOF and the others (Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat ect.) are all 2D at heart. The only ones using 3D are Dead Or Alive, Virtua FIghter, Tekken and Soul Calibur.
And they're all on life support.
Which is a pity since they're so much better than their 2D counterparts
