Colin Moriarty claims, "You haven't seen the last of Bloodborne"

There have been rumblings of Bloodborne 2 for a couple of years, but nothing has come of these rumblings. There have also been rumblings of the 2015 game coming to PC and/or PS5, but again, so far, nothing has come of these rumblings. That said, it looks like Bloodborne fans shouldn't give up hope yet.
During Sacred Symbols, Episode 200, PlayStation insider and former IGN journalist, Colin Moriarty, made a big claim when Bloodborne came up during the show dedicated to ranking the 25 best PS4 games. More specifically, Moriarty teased "You haven't seen the last of Bloodborne, I'll tell you that."
Moriarty isn't just a premier source when it comes to PlayStation, but he's recently proven reliable in numerous claims. For example, he relayed word of the new Ratchet & Clank game and Demon's Souls Remake before anyone else did. In other words, there's no reason to doubt the claim. Unfortunately, the claim isn't accompanied by any more specific and revealing details. Whether Moriarty is hinting at Bloodborne 2, a Bloodborne PC/PS5 port, or something else entirely, we don't know. That's all Moriarty had to say about the matter.

I know we shouldn't get our hopes up after all this time but this is the second time he's talked about this.

It better not be Bloodborne 2 by Bluepoint like he had suggested before. Bloodborne without Miyazaki direct involvement is blasphemous.

He also said that the Order 1886 would be getting a sequel 🥹🥹
That IP had so much potential but Sony sent it to die because they didn't want another delay, now they are comfortable with delaying pretty much everything. The game had a very good foundation.

That’s when he was at IGN right? I believe he was only referring to its technical aspect at the time, no?
No. He was saying he felt that the game just wasn't going to pan out. Like he had reservations about how the game played and what he had seen of it. After the fact, he came out and pointed out how he was right about it and how he was crucified by PlayStation fanboys over it

Still, doesn’t change the fact that he said a sequel would be coming.

He also mentioned during the podcast that he fully expects Sony to remake Bloodborne just like they did with Demon's Souls.

Expect the Bloodborne Remake announcement this summer.

Sure, but he's also been in this industry for a very long time. He's bound to get things wrong. Be it speculation or sources telling him something. But he normally doesn't say something unless he's very confident in it. Does that mean what he's saying now is 100% accurate? Nope. But if he is confident enough to say it and say it twice now, I'll lean towards him being right.

Well he’s right isn’t he? The rumor keeps popping up atleast. They keep bringing up the rumors lol

Was he speaking out of an educated guess or something he heard?

Colin Moriarty has legitimate sources. However, he makes guesses as to what he believes will happen as well. If this is the latter, I don't really believe he's right, unfortunately.

Now if he had actually heard this from someone who would know, that would be fantastic.

That's the question in my mind. Did he hear this or is he taking his own educated guess? He has mentioned this twice now. The last time he spoke of it, he said he had heard that Bluepoint was, "going back to Yarnham". I believe there were other rumors, by Millie A if I'm not mistaken, that claimed not only was a remaster of Bloodborne in the works but an actual sequel. Now, we know Bluepoint is working on original content. They've told us as much. But how original are we talking here? Because a sequel could be original enough. Considering they just worked on Demon's Souls and it seems FromSoft is not interested in working on sequels, perhaps Bluepoint jumped at the opportunity to make a sequel to a game whose basic formula they were now familiar with? I mean, it would be a safer step to take than something completely new right off the bat.

There's a distinction between predicting vs reporting. On his podcasts they do predictions all the time. That's not the same as him reporting on something he's heard from inside sources. The Order 1886 sequel was a prediction he made during a prediction segment. He wasn't reporting that a sequel was in fact being made.

After Elden Ring? He must be the biggest Bloodborne fan right now.
Why? Bet they make more profit from their cut of Elden Ring than what they made with Bloodborne. (Only half joking. They really might.)

If anything it’s just gonna make him question why they at Sony 1st party focus on making polished games that run well. Demon’s Souls is a gen ahead of Elden Ring, yet it has probably sold like 2 million. While Elden Ring might be close to 15 by now.

Considering Sony will be looking for sure fire hits for their new ps plus service I think this will happen sooner rather than later and with the success of Elden ring I can see significant investment in it.

Here's the reality: Miyazaki and FROM as a whole do not have infinite time and resources, and they naturally will prioritize whichever project is most important to them. Sony own 2 FROM related IP's, Demon's and Bloodborne, and with the huge success of Elden Ring, they'd be fools not to try and capitalize on that.

Basically FROM will do something themselves, or Sony will do something "with their blessing". To be honest I doubt Miyazaki has that big of an attachment to any of his older IP's, especially when in the case of BB it would have been understood from the start that Sony would end up owning the IP... So unless Sony were to put out an egregiously shoddy cash-in, which lets face it would be more embarrassing for them than damaging to Miyazaki's oeuvre...

Bottom line is that a return to Yharnam (or spiritual successor location) is pretty much inevitable. The only question is who has the time and resources ready first.

It was during the game’s review not a prediction segment; I still remember it because I’m one of those who really wanted a sequel.

Come on, after Elden Ring and even Demon's Souls remake they won't just sit on Bloodborne, for better or worse they'll do something with it.

Why Bloodborne and Demon's Souls sold so little in comparison to Elden Ring is a problem for Sony to figure out now.

If it exists, I'm definitely leaning towards it being made by Bluepoint. They're doing "original content". Which could easily be a sequel because they did not say "new IP". They did the Demon's Souls remake and got heaped with praise. It scored even higher with the critics than the original did and they did make some quality of life improvements that were sorely needed. Never mind the outstanding job they did with the visuals. Them working on a sequel to Bloodborne would be a great next step for them. Going from remasters to remakes to making new games within an established IP. It's a safer bet than making a whole new one. It would come right after the work they just put in on a Soulsborne remake so they would be very familiar with the formula.

The main audience for those games does not have access to it. Dark Souls prepare to Die on PC took this franchise/genre to a whole new level of fandom. It shouldn't take Sony that long to figure this out. But I've seen them do worst.

It’s been over 3 years since ol’ Jimbo took over. Idk where that BB PC port is. They had plenty of time.

I really dont want a Bloodborne remake in the vein of Demons Souls. They will ruin it.

Just give us a remaster or a BC enhancement patch.
Like hell they would. Demon's Souls remake was perfect. They kept the game 1 to 1 while vastly improving the graphics and making the game run at a locked 60 and DualSense features. It was exactly how I wanted one of my favorite games of all-time being made.

Bloodborne could desperately use similar treatment - especially with the framerate.

A Remake just doesn't make sense. There is not enough of a power gap between a PS4 and a PS5 to do it. At most they can get a Bloodborne port to run at 4k 60 (dynamic) on a PS5. And that's without improving its settings other than textures and anisotropic filtering.

Besides Bluepoint has made some questionable decisions in some of their remakes (Wonder's face and overall mood in SoTC) And on Demons souls well... bosses look like World of Warcraft rejects, they butchered the OST, and your playable character screams like he was swinging a Zweihander when casting magic. That just at a first glance.

There was a lot of smoke with the PC version, but I will settle for a 60FPS remaster for PS5. UNLESS - they give it to bluepoint with artistic freedoms to change the assets. Demon's Souls was a wonderful remake but the art and atmosphere was totally lost by them. I don't want to see that for Bloodborne.
