Previously scheduled for release during the current fiscal year, they will now launch during the company’s next fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2023.

Announced last September and originally scheduled for release in January 2021, Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake has already been delayed on a couple of occasions.

“Prince of Persia is a beloved brand and we are taking the appropriate time to ensure that we are living up to players’ expectations,” Ubisoft’s chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet said on Thursday.

“As we said during Q1, testing phases for our free to play games are ongoing and inform our release plans. Testing of Heartland has provided great feedback and the team is committed to make the title engaging for a wide audience.”

Does Sands of Time really need a remake? Game was great. Seriously some of the best platforming and rewinding time was fun awesome and easy.
Looked absolutely stellar on og Xbox.

I don't think you can improve on it and certainly don't trust modern Ubisoft too.
This is going to be a disaster.

Every fucking modern game borrows from POP, like literally. Good luck to Ubisoft. If they botch this then fuck them.

Every classics needs to be remade if they can be done properly like Resident Evil Remake or Mafia 1 Definitive Edition! Screwing up the remake is other hand a very bad move for the publisher. Glad they scratched the Sands of Time Indian Remake version!

Tag, you're it.
I don't know why everyone seems to want this remake to fail.
While the reveal was... disappointing, it's still one of the best game in the genre even by today's standards. And the actual game was looking better than the reveal which was using an old version (see here)

But the fact it is now handled by Ubi Montreal is still a good news (I guess, since most people who worked on the original are probably not there anymore)

To give devs extra time to improve the games when need it is good management. The alternative is to make them crunch as moderfuckers and to release a broken turd or to cancel the game.

It's better to give them as much time as needed and to make some changes in the team if needed.

K lol guess outsourcing to India was a bad idea...
Ubisoft Pune/India is an internal studio with 1200 workers. They handle part of the Q&A, some mobile games, some Switch ports or Just Dance games, or worked as support team in a lot of AAA games. Only a small subset of them was working on the remake.

The game was revealed on September 10, 2020 during UbiForward[4]. The planned release date was January 21, 2021[5]. On December 8, 2020 a delay was announced, pushing back the release date to March 18, 2021[6]. On February 5th the date was pushed back to a unspecified date[7]

All this for a remake.

Meanwhile this is how good game from 2008 can look with a simple 4k resolution bump:

Sorry to break in here, but just a little nitpick on the content... is there actually a delay on all of these? The article says the titles scheduled for the previous fiscal year are now shipping by the next fiscal year. It's May, and the 2023 fiscal year we're talking about started a month ago, right?

PoP Sands of Time Remake seems to be back in the shop and the calendar is off the wall, with Ubisoft Montreal's announcement. But Division Heartland and Rocksmith+ seem to be "on time" if they were scheduled for this year and are in the financial statement as being planned to be out by next March (which may mean March or Feb or Jan 2023, but might also mean 2022's holiday season too, Ubisoft did not announce a quarterly plan for any of these AFAICS.)

Am I misreading the news or is that the correct assessment of what we know so far?

The thing about Prince of Persia is it’s the same thing as the original just 3D.

Need to figure out a way to shoehorn NFTs in there.

Dat nickel and diming mofo, Yves Guillemot, won't tolerate gamers paying a fair price to play Ubi's games.
