Yep a water levels thread :)

So what games comes for your mind that have levels or zones that you really hate?

For me the better example of this is this shitty level on MGS IV.

The pacing is horrible, the level design chaotic and overall the level is slow and boring.

So what is yours gaf?

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Dragon's Dogma: any mission that makes me do chores around Grand Soren.
DOOM II: half of the game.
Quake: Any bossfight. Yeah there are just 2 but man do they suck ass.

But above all else...
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne:

wtf? I loved that level... how was it "chaotic"?
it was slow, but you had to pay attention at all times since you didn't know what would come at you.

@topic: I always hated the blood maze dream levels in Max Payne 1... really bad platforming with boring level design

Because all the streets are the same, also the guy you need to follow is slooow as f... except when he see you, then the f. bastard run away and you need to backtrack all the whole level looking for him and start over again...

Skyward sword with their silent realms. They thought they could run the TP foolishness back.
Are these the areas where you have to collect X amount of shiny things and the enemies awaken when you don’t find them quickly? If it’s that, then yes. NIGHTMARE.

The Fade bits in Dragon Age--such a chore.

I also never liked Rusty Bucket Bay in Banjo Kazooie. I'm half convinced that its horribleness was by design to make Click Clock Woods that much better by comparison, in which case... well played I guess.

Tutorial levels in general.

Water Temple, Ocarina in Time. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, it's the king of bad levels in an excellent game.

Any on-rail section where you shoot with a gatling from a fixed position in any game ever.
Depends on the context. Might as well add to this same thing but with some QTE segments. Also shitty checkpoint system and an enemy that takes a a lot of your health away.

You can make the caravan go faster by hitting the animal that's carrying it.
This post is amazing. It's the classic "Press Alt+F4 for unlimited ammo" from the Cs:S days.

I once got mad with the ox when I was a Two-handed fighter at level 100+ and accidently killed the OX, three quarters of the way to Gran Soren and had to restart.

I don't care about the context, i hate that shit in my past gotg horizon as i hate it in a shitty game that i don't care about like cod.

Okay here's one other than Dead Space & Asteroids. Ori and Will of the Wisps, the Sandworm Boss. I was never able to get past that prick.

Super Mario World's Donut Plains 2.
Every time I start a new game, there's a 50% chance I'll stop there.
The stage is an autoscroller - a very slow one, and there are sections where it slows down even more.
It's too straightforward without any real challenge other than staying awake.
And to make things even worse, the stage has to be done a second time to access the secret exit.

Agreed 100%
Playing this particular stage last night and it's so dull you tend to zone out, make a silly mistake and die, and have to repeat that snooze fest.

100% agree with the posts mentioning poor checkpoints. I don’t mind having to redo a particularly tough section of gameplay, but there’s nothing more annoying than having to listen to the same dialogue over and over because it played after the last checkpoint.

A couple of times in closing levels of Halo Infinite, I would go and find a relatively quiet spot to stand still for a few seconds to force a checkpoint before I made another attempt.

Also this from COD MW.
I loved that level, it was a nice change of pace. And I thought the calm, clinical voiceover as you rained down destruction below was perfect to illustrate the disconnect of air-to-surface warfare.

Great level imo.
