Do you feel any nostalgia for the ps360/wii? God knows I do.

I think its a mix of things. I was a teenager with my own job, i was no longer ham strung by what games my parents would buy me. Because i was a teen i had all the time in the world, and there were just so many amazing memorable games coming out in rappid succession, ive seen it said before, but i think 2007-2011 might have been my favorite 4 years of video games ever. In that time we had…

Fable 2
Uncharted 1,2, and 3
Mass effect 1, and 2
(imagine, sequels that take two years to come out as opposed to 5, what a concept)
Halo 3, halo odst, and halo reach
3d dot game heroes
Burnout paradise
Mario galaxy 1 and 2
Assassins creed the ezio trilogy (the best ones in the series)
Deadspace 1 and 2
Banjo kazooie nuts and bolts
Resistance 2 and 3
Killzone 2 and 3
Skyrim
Fallout 3, and new vegas
Blur
Split second
Ridge racer 7…

Look i could list amazing games all day. Thats not to say there isn’t amazing stuff, better stuff, coming out now, but my nostalgia is partially for those three systems which i owned and loved, and that time in my life where time seemed infinite and playing custom halo 3 games with my buddies was my favorite part of the day.

That being said, we move on, and get older, i bet there is some 20 year old now waxing nostalgic about the ps4 they got when they were 13. And they will have feelings that are just as strong as mine are in a few years time. Some of my favorite My favorite ps360 memories are getting my 360 for christmas, along with gears on christmas morning 2006, the summer of 2008 that I sunk into mass effect 1, and listening to giant bomb as it began, watching those console launches live on g4, and getting my ps3 with my own cash (which was big for me at the time) and a copy of uncharted 2 in 09.

My favorite wii memory was going to the midnight launch with friend and his family, and staying up all night to play wii sports and zelda, and playing mario galaxy for the first time.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
I really enjoyed the Wii era. Mostly because I could see something big was coming. And I was kinda anticipating it, and it really happened. It was really really special.

In terms of product, I miss the IR pointer aspect of the Wii. It's just not the same with gyro only.

I agree, i saw the trailer for the new house of the dead, no way it will feel as good as overkill did

Have a fair bit of nostalgia for the X360 mainly for Xbox Live, live arcade, dashboard and early gen games such as Rockstar Table Tennis, DOA3, GRAW, some real classics.

Didn't really like anything about the PS3, they slowly turned it around that generation though. Made up for in a big way with the PS4.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Surprisingly no, most of the best games received better ports on future hardware anyway, so there's very little that makes me feel nostalgic thinking about that era.

Quite frankly, that hardware had some of the worst performing games on average among the last couple of generations, so when I think of it, I think of things like Mass Effect 1's terrible performance, Uncharted 1's terrible screen tearing etc etc.

While I enjoyed the generation immensely, the fact that many of the games from then are still readily available or keep getting remakes means it's pretty hard for me to be nostalgic about them.

I will say that I had a discussion last night with a bud in which I said I genuinely missed the heydey of the plastic instrument rhythm genre games. Say the height of Rock Band 2, before they completely oversaturated the market. I really miss picking up my fake instrument, loading up a playlist, and just zoning out while I played. I've looked for second hand copies of either RB4 or Guitar Hero Live with instruments and people want as much for them as they do for whole ass console... so I guess my memories will remain just that.

Mostly for the weird f2p model games that released back then that I never participated in. It was a jungle back then as a gen it WAS trash but you could smack talk all day with no repercussions online and now you can get banned for telling someone to shut up. lol.

Not really. I never had a PS3 nor a 360 (although some frens lend me theirs to play games like Red Dead Redemption, Gears 2 or GTA V) and about the Wii... I dunno, most of my playtime was with my friends playing Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Strikers and that's something we still do to this day, so not a lot of nostalgia but for sure some happy memories.

My younger self didn't like any of those games lol. Guess it's time for redemption, always heard good things of those three.

Best gen of all time.
I'm hoping you're not old enough to remember the Genesis/SNES/Turbo/Neo Geo, because that is more understandable than the alternative.

I wouldn't say I have nostalgia for the generation in question, but it is when 3D gaming finally hit its stride, so it certainly has historical importance. On the downside, it was the last generation where I wasn't confident that everything would wind up on Steam, so I wound up double-dipping a few times.

My 360 is still setup under my TV and I play it (Massive backlog). It's not nostalgia, it's a constant source of entertainment. I eventually faced the truth some years ago, it's my favorite console even when I was sure my old Sega and Nintendo consoles would have had that on an eternal lock.

The 2007 360 releases were absolute beast mode is you go back and look now, I lived through that LIVE.

More nostalgia for PS2/Xbox as that's when we were getting new experiences that we'd never seen before.
Games were still generally innovative & 3D gaming was still in its infancy back then which meant everything seemed fresh&had a sense of wonder to it. The following generation is the beginning of homogeneous games once developers figured what was the popular trend and by the time we get to current gen, Everything becomes formulaic & monetised up the arse.

Somewhat. I loved PS3 first party games immensely. Infamous, God of War, Uncharted, TLOU were all fantastic. Not as much a fan of first party on Xbox except for Fable 2, but I played almost all third parties on 360 since they just performed better there.

Yep I really enjoyed the x360 and ps3 era. I still have my ps3 and it has a ton of games you can’t play anywhere else.

I do, it's one of the generations I'm more fond to.

But nowadays I try to play/replay some games of that generation and in some cases it's a pretty rough experience, mostly because of low framerate and excess of bloom.

I was PC all the way till the 360 was released. Suddenly my PC upgrading hit a wall and a console looked better.
Now my PC upgrading is done over much longer time spans.

Not really nostalgic. But during that era it seems like game studios took more risks creating new IPs and most of them were amazing when they came out.

Yea when I can play The Simpsons, X-Men arcade, MvC1 & 2, various shmups, and then the plethora of PS2 Classic games. I could play Street Fighter II HD Remix, Third Strike HD, Puzzle Fighter HD, and DarkStalkers Resurrection. It feels like all these games should be BC, but they’re not. Some are delisted due to licensing issues. If you purchased these and many more you have a console that is still very relevant. A lot of those games won’t be outdone anytime soon by anything modern. My Wii still has a lot of VC titles on it. I rebought Zelda OOT and Sin & Pubishment for Wii U even though I have them both on the Wii.

For the PS3 I do. Ambitious creative projects were still able to get attention and budgets on that console. Half of all indie games weren't made of the same pixel art style either.

Absolutely, it was a great time in my life. The best part is the games are HD and a lot of hold up nicely.

Nothing will every top the first few years of the Xbox 360, especially socially.

Playing games online is not the same as it was back then.

Early PSN downloadable games hold a lot of nostalgia for me as well and they’re awesome. Trash Panic, Tokyo Jungle, The Last Guy, Flower, etc.

Great time for games.

Also Xbox Live Cam Uno was FANTASTIC

I LOVED infamous 1 and 2, infamous 2 is excellent, i wish there was a way to play it on ps5 that wasnt streaming. While we are on the topic of ps3, i think ratchet a crack in time is my favorite ps3 game of all time

Not for the wii, if wasn't for the emulation I would never even play any of its games... Too bad because I think Mario Galaxy 2 is the best 3D Mario ever. But of course I experience it at 4k60 and with a good controller, the point mechanism is a bit annoying, but the DS4 was up to the task.

PS3 is one of my favorite consoles, I regret that I sold mine a few years ago. I think Sony current success is still directly tied to what they did in the second half of that generation.

The XMB was great and the PS3 didn't lack any key feature for the time (HDMI, Wifi, battery, Blu-ray, hard-drive), it felt premium and the exclusives were top tier.

I didn't like the 360 very much (it was decent and cheap but still lacking, I forgot about it once I got a PS3). I hated the Wii (one of my greatest disappointment as a gamer was using the Wiimote and realizing the tech was garbage).

I miss parties with SingStar. I had spent thousands on songs. I dunno why Sony botchered the PS4 so much and let it die.

If you're not exaggerating, $1000's is worth having a dedicated PS3 Singstar box under your TV even now. Unless the parties were online only and not local.
2/3 of the songs are available on my PS5 but store was closed years ago and many modes are missing. UI sucks too compared to PS3.

Still missing the GOAT one to sing.
