Are people really still playing the pregnancy test card? It does not run on a pregnancy test, it runs on an Orange Pi Zero + custom OLED screen. The only part of the pregnancy test is the plastic, it's not even fitted inside the thing. Of course a pregnancy test chipset isn't programmable and it has near zero memory.

Fun fact: It also does not run on a Mega Drive, it runs on an FPGA.

Have I had a brain aneurysm? What in sweet hell are you talking about sir/madam?

I'm guessing someone pretended Doom runs on a screaming red rabbit thing test card?

It does some wierd stuff on the sprites when they're in the foreground which almost ruins the effect. The darkest areas being pitch black also ruins the original ambience as you could always just make out enemies in the original engine. I do appreciate the effort that went in to this and I think it could be used to greatly improve say early 2000s games which WERE going for the pitch black black effect yet couldn't pull it off with then current lighting engines. They mentioned Half Life and I'd be much more exited to play that when it comes out. Doom (Doom 2 rather) is always first though because it's the best understood game engine in the world.

Edit: This will probably never happen, but imagine Dark Souls 2 with it's intended lighting engine. Someone do a proof of concept and Patreon that shit. I'll pay you!

Raspberry Pi Zero (well, it is not a RPI zero, but a cheaper clone without HDMI and fancy stuff).

Doom running on a Raspberry Pi Zero clone which is not even inside the pregnancy test (because it does not fit).

I mean, it's not rocket science. And the author said it wasn't actually running on a pregnancy test like.. 1 hour after the original tweet. But for some reason people are still playing the Doom runs on everything card.

I mean, Doom does run on everything...including yourself.
