Crystal Dynamics has announced it is now developing the next TOMB RAIDER

Back to the grid, only this time each move costs 10 gold bars that you can mine in game or purchase from the store?

Seriously though, I hope they break away from the generic action game-ness of the last trilogy and get back to puzzles (both traversal and tombs) being the primary focus. Should be a looker, TR lends itself well to that.

We'll get every other franchises gameplay mechanics shoehorned in.

This is probably a wildly unpopular opinion...

But I really think CD needs to move on from Tomb Raider.

For one, Tomb Raider is really a shell of it's original existence. It isn't the same formula, Lara isn't the same person. It has turned into a glorified step child of Uncharted.

For two, CD is a decent studio. Let's get them on something fresh... which truth be told, they are probably taking the lead role on the seemingly doomed Perfect Dark reboot, so I guess that is a bit of a nice boost. I would really prefer them to be on something different though. I get that finally they won't be up against an Uncharted or TLOU title for the first time in forever (at least, that we know of), but still. TR isn't what it was, and has been second fiddle for quite a bit. Get something fresh.

It's hard to get excited for this, as I found the most recent entry so poorly designed and boring that I don't think I even made it to the halfway point before giving up. But hey, fingers crossed.

Yes i'm hype, Classic Lara and TR games are some of my favorite character and games ever, hopefully it's going back to its roots.

Make lara sexy, confident and powerful again, not this whiny crybaby that talk all day like in Shadow.
I like how even the hairs have multiple erections.

I just want Lara Croft back...
Not this whoever frumpy ass moron in the reboot.

I want the fun and adventerous femme fatale back who isn't all about family drama and depression.

Can't wait for Next Gen Lara on Unreal Engine5, it will look incredible, for sure. Hopefully they will explore some new gameplay mechanics formula and some fresh elements. Fingers crossed.

What I want from the next Tomb Raider -
> Classic Lara
> Hard puzzles without any hint like the good old days
> Tons of platforming
> Semi open world
> Costumes like shorts and swimsuit
> Less cinematics, more actions
> No quick time events
> Completely explorable Croft Manor (Gym and swimming pool is a bonus)

This. Or Remaster the first one.

But this is Unreal Engine now, there are high chances it will suffer stuttering if they don´t make smooth gameplay a priority.
Never faced any problem with Gears 4 or 5 stuttering issue. But then again Coalition is the master of Unreal Engine. If they can execute this properly there won't be any issues. Hopefully they will take time to make it perfect.

I just hope it doesn't turn out like Avengers which takes a huge CPU power!

I enjoyed the last 3 games somewhat. For everything they did right, they did something equally wrong or annoying. They all felt like wasted potential. Really a cheap knockoff of the Uncharted games. Hopefully they can do better with the series.

Gears 4 and 5 had stuttering in some configurations.

Yeah I'm 100% in on this. Their games have been fun.

There's Horizon FW .... new Gran Turismo...
But what am I playing recently ? Uncharted 4 Remaster. It's probably me but I'm not really having a whole hell of a lot of fun this generation. Can't put my finger on it.

Hoping PSVR 2 sparks some kind of interest in something new. Or maybe a bunch of PS2 games I used to love included in PS+++++++ Diamond or whatever its called.

It’s not just you. I too find myself having more fun with last gen games. I’m having more fun playing gta5 on current gen hardware. (Outside of Elden Ring, but I need a break from that)

I’m up for all that except “hard puzzles”. That sounds horrible to me.

You don't like to think?
I love hard puzzles. What I don't like is if I have to jump around from point A to B to do something to figure a puzzle out. This is okay if the puzzle isn't too hard or complex, so the back and forth doesn't get too crazy. But with really complex stuff I just find it tedious to solve them in a 3D environment.

Bring back the Lara with the dry British wit, confidence, and intelligence. The relic she is going after doesn't have to destroy the world, nor does she always have to be racing some billionaire lunatic to it. Also, bring back Croft manor.... with the butler :messenger_sunglasses:

I’m done with this series man.

Its one thing to tone her looks down. Fine whatever.

Its one thing drastically change the gameplay to automated platforming & heavy stealth/combat. Fine whatever.

But these Crystal Dynamics games are just so boring like holy shit its like the game version of the Young Adult section and Barnes and Nobles. The gameplay and story are beyond sterile its like an Ubisoft AI made them. I can forgive a game for a lot but it cant be boring.

Aww, she's lonely now. Now we must feel sorry for her, and she can feel sorry for herself. She will have a group of diverse POC and LGBTQIA+++ raiders that she works with, so now CD can shoehorn multplayer, co op, or a convoluted storyline involving this group of raiders into TR. Exactly what classic TR fans asked for. Maybe she will find a black lesbian trans lover in this game so she won't feel so lonely anymore. Go for it CD. Spend that Embracer money! This one will be the best one yet! 🤣

Legend trilogy had this. I don't expect the new game having this, though.

I also don't need real life issues in these games. So many games got darker and darker and more serious. It looks like there can't be pure escapism and everything must be bleak to some extent. If you look at all the games from Summer of Gaming... games are getting dark as hell.

Why not making her bad ass, with no issues and just make a fun platformer with puzzles, a great performance and some action sequences.

I thought the Trilogy was damn good. I don't know what she looks like has to do with gameplay or perhaps folks are just being ironic.
Poorly written character is what it amounts to. Reboot Lara destroys everything she touchs. If they make a Tomb Raider game based around world exploration and tombs I'd be a happy camper but the dudebro 3rd person shooter with a landfill of insecurity issues does not make a strong character. But a weak fragile one set to self-destruct at any given moment.

I don't think they have any intention of revisiting OG Lara who is leaps and bounds much better written in their simplicity as a busty booty shorts pistol whipping Indiana Jones archetype.
