Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 Version Gameplay - Peformance RT

I found a first comparison video between the PS4 and PS5 versions. It looks much more improved than you would think. The draw distance is hugely improved. Also, it looks like they completely changed the color grading in some scenes.

The load times are disappointing on PS5 i think but I guess the game would have to be entirely remade from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5 SSD to see the kind of load times HFW has. I mean HFW is a way more beautiful game and loading time from the menu is only 2-3 seconds.

Got until June to collect on the £9 offer, so going to wait for DF and others to do a thorough investigation.

Yes, I'm one of the few gamers that still hasn't played GTA 5.

This looks quite a bit better.

To be fair, I would have been happy with a resolution bump and 60 fps framerate for the PS4 version running on the PS5 but since Rockstar don't do "free" current-gen upgrades then that was never going to be an option. I think this looks better than I was expecting. It's not a remake, it is still very much GTA V but it now looks much closer to the PC version maxed out, possibly better in some areas such as lighting and textures. I just want to play this game on console at a resolution higher than 1080p. Same for Red Dead Redemption 2 as well, which I'm sure we will get a paid for upgrade of at some point, hopefully with a remaster version of the first game (which never came out on PC).

so what is raytraced here exactly? I see no evidence of RT reflections and the lighting, if it is enhanced, doesn't look drastically different from the PC version 🤷

It's only shadows in performance RT mod. Some reflections (car, large water bodies) added in fidelity mode, albeit at 30fps.

heard elsewhere that this is fake

I don't get how a 2013 PS3 game can't run at 60 fps in all of its versions in 2022 on a PS5 / Xbox Series X...
I’m pretty sure the early to mid 2000s PS2 “definitive” trilogy also have a fidelity 30 and performance 60 on PS5. Even after all of the patches done by Rockstar themselves and not Grove Street Studios. Which is just mind boggling.

I watched a fidelity mode video, and still can't see RT reflections anywhere, not on cars at least.
the videos aren't the best but it looks almost identical to the performance mode video

what happed to the smog and water? thats a pretty big downgrade from the OG. also not sure I love the new color timing. the more natural California white light has been replaced with piss yellow hue.

otherwise, does looks nice and sharp.

Edit: Ah, looks like the smog and white-caps are there in fidelity mode. pretty big sacrifices for RT if you ask me.

Will have to wait till the inevitable DF video. But it wouldn't surprise me if RT implementation turns out to be very very basic.

given that I basically can't tell what it is used for in these video, yeah... seems VERY basic. maybe global illumination or something, so slight bounce lighting here and there or something

Did they also mod in the controller button prompt from the dualsense controller?

you can easily mod those yes. there has been PS4 button promt mods for the PC version in the past, so modding in PS5 versions should be very easy, maybe even as easy as quickly modifying the PS4 buttons mod.

I think I even saw a DualSense Trigger mod in the past that adds trigger effects

True. Though, I'll take half the time being displayed there for GTA.

it's ok if you like games with absolutely awful controls, the worst gunplay in history and missions designed in such a linear way that a single wrong step outside an arbitrary an divisible boundry will give you a game over... IN AN OPEN WORLD GAME none the less

terribly designed game with absolutely god awful controls
You just suck at the game. It's okay. Not every game can be mastered by everyone.
