GTA VI Will Take Players All Over the World, Game Could Last 500 Hours, Says Michael Pachter

As noted by games analyst Michael Pachter (managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities), the development of GTA VI began in earnest between 2014 and 2015. The reason that's behind such a long development time is the sheer scale of the game.

According to his sources, GTA VI will reportedly feature multiple locations from all the previous games in the franchise. The game might be so huge as to last 500 hours, he added.

GTA VI has been in development since 2014. They may have not been writing code back then as they were figuring out the story, but by 2015 they were writing code. Anybody who is so naive as to think Rockstar with its 2000 employees is sitting on their butts twiddling their thumbs... No, they're not, these guys are working their asses off to create amazing content, but GTA VI is going to take 10 years or more. The reason is, my understanding is, it is a mash-up of Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City (so GTA III), and Europe, London for sure. You're going to be able to go anywhere on those continents and you're going to have missions that take you all those places.
It'll probably be literally a four or five hundred hour game by the time they get it out. That's what they are doing now, that's what they've turned GTA VI into. I get it because they're like, we're gonna charge you 60 bucks and then we're going to give you an online experience and you're going to have to carry drugs from London to LA, you're going to have to go through the port in Miami. They're going to do all this really cool stuff.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Yeah, what a crock of shit.

Same thing every time a new GTA game is in the works. "Dude, this one will let you fly to every city! Every building is fully explorable!"
Same Pachter that just said "Sony are finished".

Say what you want about Schreier but he's generally on the money with his reports and one came out in 2020 detailing how management plan to release a "relatively" smaller map at first which they build upon over time, and mentions the fact that it's still somewhat early in development.

Believe what you want but there's absolutely zero chance it takes 500 hours to do everything in GTA 6.

Fuck this, take your usual 10-12 years and gimme an incredible super detailed single place like in the past.

Edit: wait, is this a patcher news? That we are gonna get exactly what i asked, i was worried for a whole second here...

When you've made the biggest game of all time, the next step is to make a bigger one and count on it being a game that can last ten years. I've got 479 hours on 3DS Animal Crossing, busy work and seasonal events so if GTA VI is like that it's not something you are just going to speedrun 500 hours of.

Breaking : GTAVI will be the Metaverse and players must spend and earn real money to survive.

But seriously though after all the goings on the the world in the last decade I can’t wait for the next GTA. The planet has turned into a GTA satirical world.

This makes little sense and honestly reads like something you see posted on /v/ every other week.

Oh, you mean Michael "I am wrong about everything and predicted Elder Scrolls 6 would surprise launch in 2019" Pachter?

The guy is the biggest idiot I've ever seen

I can already feel the bloat.
rdr2 should be half the length it was... and after it ended you still play 10 hours for no reason. Totally ruining the weight of the ending

What I see happening is a pretty sizeable game, anywhere from 50 to 100 hr game, with DLC already being developed that may take the story to other locations? Yeah, there's no way the game will be 400-500hr.

This will be fun to revisit in a few years from now.

I genuinely fear for the next instalment of GTA as I suspect it'll be a "live service" online only game stuffed to the brim with microtransactions because that seems to be the way publishers want to go these days. GTA Online was so successful that the base GTA V never received any expansions like GTA IV and this in turn delayed the release of the sequel. Personally, I thought that was a shame as I had no interest whatsoever in playing GTA Online and never will.

GTAV is in making money for 3 generations. It was very impressive in the ps3 and we can admit that took years to other games Implement things that gtav did like 10 years ago. They surely already doing gta6 with a mentality that it will go at least in the same path as 5, it will be a mult generation, it will have updates for next generations, it will have a massive online presence and will deliver something not seen in current open world games.

I see some jokes in here about the shark cards, but guys we cant even joke about it, microtransactions will be like tha base of this game, and I personally believe that we could even see crypto being introduced in it. Metaverse or even NFTs. Its something that is made for at least 10 years, so they have a plan if things like that becomes more popular and a way to put it on the game. I think it be a really open thing, that can be easy updated with contents. This time I believe that if we dont see 2 maps in the base game, we will get it in a free expansion. Will it be good? Will be boring? Only thing we can agree 100% is that this thing will be again a new mark in games. Not everyone likes 5, but we do all agree tha gta6 launches is like a event in the industry.

Report me if I continue to console war
Man, i would love missions where you have to smuggle drugs through an airport and you have to sit on the plane and can look the view, eat plane food etc.

I love non violent forms of gameplay.

Reverse groomer.
not a GTA fanboy, but i don't think there can be any "bloat" in a GTA game... it's literally a crime life simulator
Honestly i hope the campaign isn't "500 hours" long... a shorter campaign that hits harder would be better. GTAIV anyone?

The fact we went an entire generation without a new GTA was surprising to me, I'd wager they are really putting everything into GTAVI
