Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
You know what to do, Microsoft.

One reason why I could never get into GTA games is the 30 fps (max) on consoles. Maybe I'll buy it for cheap if 60 fps works wonders.

Am i the only adult on earth that never played GTA5 ? I own every GTA up to GTA IV but somehow never tried this one.

I have only played the first couple of missions, I'm hoping this turns out good so I can give it a real play.

I agree, and they will keep on doing this when the PlayStation 12 comes out with the next version of Grand Theft Auto.
Nah, for real this is obviously the last release of this game.

They’ll leave it on the shelves for another year or two to milk the last few drops out of it, then we’ll get GTA6 in 2024.

I bought the current version yesterday for the Series X, then learned about this upgrade. I feel a bit like the xbox shop ripped me off TBH.
I assumed the current version ran at 60fps on the X, but I guess it doesnt.
Seeing as though theres no way to upgrade to the new version, I just requested a refund for the one I bought yesterday.
I only care about the single player (flying planes and swimming with sharks etc), but I expect that 60fps and increased character and vehicle density will make a pretty big difference in fun for me.

I love how they only tell us what improvements there are, rather than actually show us. I can’t help but wonder if this is going to go the same way as the trilogy did with GSG.

Report me if I continue to console war
I'm constantly surprised at how underpowered and dated the PS5 and XSX already feel with so many compromises.
Thats like judging the PS4/X1 on GTA5 (Gen 8 version) or bioshock infinite remastered. Pretty big difference when you judge these systems with games made specifically for them, like RDR2, gears 5, TLOU2 etc

It will be the same for this gen.

Can we get next gen upgrades on Red Dead 2 please…. I … I know it doesn’t make y’all as much money but it’s the best game y’all ever made and needs some attention.

Be interesting to see how steady the Performance RT mode holds.

Feel like either RT will be minimal or VRR will be essential to make it payable.
yeah, the RT Performance will be max res 1800p with RT reflections that are pixelated/grainy messes on shiny surfaces due to shitty checkerboarding just so we can go "look! you see that light down there?! i can see it on the hood of this car without it being in the screen space! awesome! ray tracing!" it's so bad.

Can't even hit 60fps in 4k on a fucking 8 year old game, get the fuck outta here. The raytracing better be god-tier.

Also lol at that screenshot, are you serious Rockstar?

Not even releasing a trailer showing off these "many visual enhancements" gives all cause for concern.

GTA has hit the Pokémon level. They don't need to expend much effort to sell ridiculous numbers off the name alone. Just look at the GTA trilogy collection

I was curious how performance would compare to PC. I was able to run 4k with close to 60FPS with a 2080 Super.

I wonder if RT will come to PC too.
I’d have to see this to believe it. If you mean RTGI through ReShade + ENB, 4K60 is doubtful on a 2080S. Unless the rest of the in-game settings were at Very Low/Low Quality. Shader, Shadows, AO, SS Reflections , Water, Post, etc.

With everything maxed out (no AA), max fps OC on a 2080Ti was ~30.

Alan Wake Remastered was released October 5, 2021.
One month later, Microsoft added the original Alan Wake to the FPS Boost program.
So I'll choose to hold on to hope.
Because I'm certainly not buying GTA5: Mild Improvement.

11 days out and no video? Pretty lame rockstar. Makes you think it sucks, hopefully I am wrong.
Just search up expanded and enhanced, plenty of clickbait vids. Some look do look pretty impressive, probably better than what Rstar will drop.

Great Driving Mechanics, nice shooting, good music, clearly an AAA Title. fantastic city and graphics.
I disagree completely. Driving and shooting mechanics are awful and archaic. The city is not very interesting to explore outside of story content and the story content is inconsistent. Really did not like the three PC juggling. It's a good game, but nothing I would ever want to go back to.

So what if Rockstar says no because they want to sell the upgrade?
I suppose Microsoft would wait. Just like they did with Alan Wake.
And, of course, this assumes that FPS Boost would work on it in the first place.
Jason Ronald has said they've gotten it working on all the games they can and new techniques will have to be used in the future.

I think it’s pretty clear that it’s up to Rockstar to give Microsoft permission to do that. So it’s really up to Rockstar to allow this to happen. Something that I doubt if they want to make money off the upgrades.
