NXGamer/IGN: Elden Ring: PS5 vs Xbox Series X | S Performance Review

Ok, so there are some issues and longer loading times on the XSX and XSS versions of Elden Ring, but I think XBOX owners should be happy the game is on XBOX consoles. Isn’t it a Japanese game? Not making excuses for From Software, but they can probably patch or update the issues the game has later. Even if the PS5 has the slightly better version, I heard the game is amazing on both consoles.

Serious?!

Xbox fans literally petitioned df to re run analysis on Dirt 5 virtually every patch until codemasters messed up the ps5 version enough that parity could be called.

DIRT FIVE!!!!

You think your console compadres will let this go?
They never back PS5 version to normal state?

But Cerny or Sony has never said ps5 is the most power machine ever made when notorious MS channels always let intend XSX would have destroyed the ps5 performance.
Microsoft claimed no such thing. They claimed the Xbox was the world's most powerful console, which it is in pure compute. But pure compute is only one factor in the performance of a game. Optimization time, API differences and Pixel Fillrate can play just as much a role in how a game performs.

Microsoft never made mention of the fact that the Xbox would crush the PS5, that was all fanboy drivel.

Those are some pretty pathetic posts.

Wonder how different the visuals are for PS4 performance to PS5 performance. I know there’s less grass density, etc, but the PS4 version also has less pop-in? What’s the advantage of the PS5 version then aside from higher average dynamic res?

Don’t have time to watch the videos, but is the visual difference that significant when moving up to PS5?

PS4 Pro resolution is lower… 1800CBR.
PS5 uses a dynamic native resolution.

I'm asking myself what will all of you do when gaming is all pure streaming? Do you then go after the multiple ISPs because of better bandwidth or ping?

Just enjoy the game. It's a from software title. All Versions are kind of shitty 😂...
Nah. Just go PC. No one wants pure streaming COD games.

So much for the xsx eating monsters for breakfast.

It's best to have it all, don't limit yourself to one friend.

VRR
Forced 120hz output
Tier 2 VRS
Sampler Feedback Streaming
Mesh Shaders
Dolby Vision.

Great times ahead.

I have all of those things at my disposal, just not in the way that you hope. But I agree, it's best to dream a dream. And when the dream becomes a nightmare, don't wake up, just keep dreaming.

So played this on my 2080 at 1440p and it is very curious. Most of the time the GPU utilization is around 65-75% but then you make one turn towards some nearby trees and boom, shoots up to 85-95%. Catacombs look last gen and by last gen i mean PS3 era graphics and the gpu utilization shows that too. 45%.

I think whats happening here is that their draw distance system is rendering too much. they are either not managing the LODs properly or they didnt optimize this game at all. I dont typically see GPU utilization jump that much in open world games. It's way too variable. I saw this recently in Cyberpunk but only in one area. I was playing with maxed out settings driving around the city, 75-80% usage at 30 fps capped. But then I went into a night club and it had ray traced reflections and what seems like a billion light sources, completely tanked my framerate. Clearly that room wasnt optimized for ray traced lighting and reflections, and I think Elden Rings feels that way for the entire open world.

Do you get two random hitches every now and again. Like it pauses twice with a second or so in-between and then the engine catches up? Like it speeds up on PC.

I don't know why I'm sat here troubleshooting pc issues when I could just be playing.

Sekiro pc port was amazing but this is baffling.

I'm on an 8700k and an rtx 3080.

Im shocked he went for a sony tv myself. I guess he had no other option since ms doesn't make tvs.
I went back and forth between the C1 and A80J. A80J has better picture quality and Sony promised (lol) VRR support, but it's been close to a year. I may need to return this if Sony doesn't deliver on their promises and deliver them in a good manner. Reports on VRR that has been rolled out to Sony non-OLEDs have been that it's a horrible implementation. Not sure why this is so difficult for Sony. LG has been doing it for years. And here we are still without VRR in a Sony OLED or a Sony console.

Oh sorry, I'll actually have it in a week. Should I have waited a week to vote? GTFO

Although I guess I do have to hope that Sony doesn't shit the bed again with VRR. Latest rumor was next month, right? Might need to cancel this tv if Sony fucks up again.

You want VRR and you went for a Sony TV?
