Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen patch will launch today together with a free trial

I’m downloading the free trial, I don’t have the game anymore, sold it ages ago. And yeah my internet connection sucks
but it is a whole game, so it's slightly smaller on PS5 than XSX. That was my point. It wasn't just a brag post, obviously

I've been wanting to play cyberpunk since it came out, but due to all the issues, I haven't pulled the trigger until now.

They put the base game on sale today, and that's all I needed. I can't wait to make some op builds.

PS5

This is what I wanted at launch.

Looks great. Yes more crowds and traffic.

My cycles tires glow now.... and yes that was needed.

Just messed around a bit with both graphic modes, look good. Ray tracing experts will let us know if we are ok to enjoys rhe graphics later.

You can feel the gear changes through the Haptics. Very nice touch. Cycle felt really good now.

Game looks and plays great on XSX in 4K/30 mode with Ray Tracing. Not perfect, but significantly better.

And the game ran/played great on XSX before this patch, so not sure what the problem was with playing this title on next-Gen systems before today…

Is this worth playing right now? Or wait another year or so?
I'd say...absolutely

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Those that never had it on PS4...there was a discount for the game today.

I couldn't buy it on the PS5, kept giving me an error, so went to the website and saw the lower price.

It should be $25 on the console.

Because it is next-gen features for the PC version.. similar to how people tout that the PS5 version of HFW is next-gen.
Next gen features, but still looks very much like a last gen game. Also, I don't consider HFW a true next gen game.

The only thing I've seen that is truly next gen is the matrix demo.

Played the demo and i think there is significant improvement over last gen version. Through my demo run time i didnt notice any drop in frames.

Ray tracing looks okay. Maybe not very high res. But character models are improved. There is general improvement in all areas. It is decent now. I think this is what they should have delivered the first time.

Why is it not offering the PS5 upgrade when I have installed and updated the game? I tried both of the discs, but the offer isn't showing up.

Is this really £20 on the PS store, because it’s £25 on the Xbox store…

Getting tempting, but with so many other games still to play (currently playing through Mass Effect trilogy again on Gamepass), I may hang off longer. Heck, it’ll probably be on Gamepass at some point down the line.

What is the state of the base PS4 version after the patch?

Did it reach a 'decent enough' status after all these updates?

Not sure i would call the tech features in Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen.. unless you mean PS6, as there's no way a fully RT PC version would run on these Consoles at more than 5fps.

Still downloading out of curiosity btw, but according to this video:

At least at night and during rain, and outside of still relatively empty roads, game looks actually good. He switches to the 60fps Mode a couple of times near the end with little to no difference.

If it's really stable, i think it's fair to say CDPR finally delivered decent Console versions.

still looks so empty and deserted...

What constitutes "looks very much like last gen"? I don't understand how you guys can subjectively put a label on something being called last gen without actually knowing what specifically you are saying is a last gen feature.

I don't understand this sentence at all. Next-gen features don't apply to the PC since it's always ahead of the consoles. RT features make it have next-gen features. Just like last-gen had PBR shaders that made it 'next-gen'.

Is it barren because of the time of day and weather? That looks so empty

Are there any console games that can do ray tracing and 60fps at the same time?
Yes. Free-roams as well, but only RT Reflections so far in those.

I just thought was a bit weird to label the full RT features present in Cyberpunk on PC "Next-Gen" (which is Console terminology) like you did, when said Consoles could probably never implement them. No big deal, just semantics.

This was not the case with PBR.

Why are people so hung up on the fucking crowd density?
Because before this Patch, on current gen Consoles the city was almost literally empty.

You can just tell by looking at the really flat lighting and the characters that it's just last gen looking. It's honestly one of the worst looking games I've seen recently.

Metro Exodus, Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, Little Nightmares 2, Resident Evil Village... should I keep going?

CDPR's reveal videos showed crowd density that went way beyond anything we'd seen before in open world games. It's apart of the dystopian city aesthetic that sells cyberpunk as a sub-genre. On PC, they absolutely delivered. On consoles, however, the cut backs were extreme. It was believed the crowd density would be improved dramatically on the next-gen consoles once the next-gen patches arrived. I love CP2077, GOTY2020 for me, but it's a valid question and a valid critique.

I'm on an LG C1 OLED. What are y'all using for the HDR settings?

I set:
  • Maximum Brightness - 800 nits (I think that's the max luminance of C1 OLEDs)
  • Paper White - 150 (cause I hate glowy white text on dark backgrounds, i believe this only impacts UI elements)
  • Tone-Mapping Mid Point - 2 (left it at default 2 but I feel this needs adjusting)

... as opposed to deliberately picking a screenshot to make it look as bad as absolutely possible, right? :messenger_blowing_kiss:
My point is... it should never look bad. It shouldn't matter if you're outside in the sun, or inside under a lamp. The graphics should be consistent across the board. The fact is, the game was in development for 9 years.... it's a last gen game at it's core.

Nah, the PS4 version in the video is running on 1.1 update.
In this case let's hope the PS4 version improved since then. I assume it should be in a more than decent state (obviously not compared to a high end PC) now.

Your point is poorly formed, at best, and pathetically out of touch at worst. Given the completely disingenuous nature of your screenshot selection, that should be self-evident. Every game will have moments where it looks worse than other moments. People with an axe to grind - like yourself - will screen capture those moments and pretend they represent the majority of the game.
Cyberpunk-2077-new-screenshots-September-2020-6.jpg

For the vast, vast majority of my time with Cyberpunk 2077, I was constantly impressed by the visually rich and incredibly designed world and characters. Will the game look less impressive if I stand in indirect light at noon in the middle of an area devoid of characters, building, and incidental details? Of course; so does literally every game - because those are the very things that make a game look "good". Your "point" is non-sense; little more than inane click bait rhetoric from performative YouTubers that you've bought in to wholesale.

You should be able to, I just did. You have to go over where the free upgrade tab is at. Did you get it worked out?
Seems like PS store in EU fucked us, and will only offer a trial even though I got the disc in, for now. I hope when they clock in to work tomorrow they'll sort it out.

Could be that the CUSA codes are botching up the upgrade. My data disc is CUSA-25194 and the play disc is CUSA-16579. The game case is marked CUSA-16579.
