Martha is dead to be censored/edited on PlayStation platforms, PC and Xbox unaffected.

lol.....you've got the bans to prove your warrior status. I don't. Horror movies would be a better comparison to this than TLOU 2. That much is obvious.

This is your problem. You think in "groups". You are so tribal it is hilarious. And no, I never made any silly "pedophilia was ok" comments ever. That's your tribalism speaking, warrior.

angry season 2 GIF by American Gods

Which would make The Walking Dead a better comparison. This is a specific act in this game that does not occur in TLOU 2. Again, Sony should not be censoring at all. Leave it to the ESRB to do their job. But no, stop pretending this is the type of thing that happens in TLOU 2. It is not. Factually.
100%.

I've said this isn't comparable to TLOU 2 and that's the only point I'm making. You are the one who responded to me with this "warrior mentality" nonsense. You are also the one who also brought up this "pedophilia was ok" bullshit so you can save your speech about derailing. Seems you are pulling arguments out of your ass, frankly.

What? You want to get into an in-person altercation about this? Are you serious?

Cracking Up Lol GIF

Who said altercation? But thanks for proving my point. Keyboard warriors just as I thought lol. Keep derailing and fighting the "good" fight i guess ✊

I played TLOU 2. There is nothing like this in TLOU 2.
"We want to treat this as realistically as possible. When you stab someone—if you watch reference videos, which we have, it’s gross and it’s messy and it’s not sanitized like you see in most movies and games. And we wanted to get the player to feel that.”

From Neil Druckmann interview.

So It is much much worse in the TLOU2 by fucking design.

It is. Just watch the videos of the game. I don’t know why would you give this an M rating. Seems like they want to push the boundaries. In 5 years we will have M rated games today being rated as Teen.

I've seen a lot of people claim it's because she's underage because of the term '' baby sister '' but that doesn't seem to even be true.
There's literally no excuse.
There's far more graphic violence in other games.

Can't even take you seriously. We already know you're scared lol. Good day 🤣🤣

Internet really is another breed lol

I'm scared of what? Didn't you just dismiss the possibility of there being an altercation?

Violence in TLOU 2 is worse, yes. This is a scene mutilating a dead corpse. Not the same thing.

As cringey as it gets. Got to love being on GAF when warriors lose it.
He has lost it when he starts inviting physical meetings like it is a threat.

As for him not getting invites. Who is going to take the time to travel around to meet up with some goober on the internet that odds are will not show up anyway? That is why it is easy for an internet warrior to make those foolish statements. They know the odds are slim anyone will take them up on it. Frankly, I find it sad someone would want to resort to that kind of language over such a stupid topic.

I am not happy Sony chose to censor something but that something is available elsewhere. Sony can make whatever decision they feel warranted and consumers can do the same by playing it elsewhere. If enough people play elsewhere Sony might reconsider in the future.

Yeah, there is no other way to put it but say it's pretty sad. He basically took it to a new level of "warrior" lol.

It is likely the woke reaction someone mentioned on Twitter or Twitch is what influenced this decision which is why it is at odds with other content Sony has allowed to release or has released themselves (even if it might not be exactly the same thing or to the same level). The right approach in my mind would have been to release it uncensored with an appropriate rating. But yes, it is their platform and hopefully this is something they will reconsider, if not on this, towards future releases. Consistency is one thing but doing it on a case by case basis is just odd.

Im perfectly fine. Im not the one needing to resort to insults or personal attacks over a plastic box. Because you're scared to show up somewhere, doesn't mean other people are too. Maybe take some self defense classes if you're scared.

Its why I laugh at dumb insults and dogpiles here. None of you would talk like that to someone in person lol. All I wanted to see is if someone would have that energy in person but as I figured they're scared.

Shouldn't talk to people any type of way on the internet if you're too scared to do it in person. Done on the subject, already confirmed what I thought they were. Good day

People don't want to see a dead body face being cut off live. Not to mention, you as a gamer, is doing that action.

Sorry buddy, but I ain't no way, I am doing that. It ain't happening. I would rather eat shit, than do that.

Listen dumbass. This will be my only response to you on this matter. I could meet up with you and six of your closet friends and it still would not equal some of the situations I have had to deal with in my life. Nobody is afraid of you. You're only making yourself look foolish.

I personally don't want to and I don't like horror games, but considering that MK11 exists yes there's people who want to do that and worse.

Thats just sick, and great that Sony demands to remove this shit...

Will you play the game now? Probably not.

Sure it wouldn't lol. Don't involve yourself in other people's business then. Assumptions from internet warriors are amusing. Mind your own business next time susie.

Im done entertaining a bunch scared keyboard warriors lol

Mk11 is game, that makes fun of it. Its like Tom and Jerry level of violence. You laugh at those kills.

This on other hand, the nature of the games makes it much worse. The unexpected twist, makes it much more gruesome.

Hell no, this kind of gore just to shock is a step to far.
Tell me, whats the function of this in the game or the story??

I see people still falling into the trap of "why would anyone find this fun?". Now maybe some of the people saying this are Nintendo soyboys who took Reggie's "if it's not fun, why bother?" quote too literally. But I jest.

I've said in other threads about game difficulty and censorship the same thing: people don't understand that games have moved on. They are no longer just a children's toy and so, like other medium, will try to elicit a wide range of emotions. So no, cutting the face off a woman (it's not a baby or a child for fuck's sake) and wearing it is not meant to be 'fun'. I'm pretty sure everyone would be concerned if someone thought it was. It is meant to make you feel uncomfortable and dirty when doing it. It's the fucking point.

It's not like this is some bait-and-switch on the part of the developers either. Many seem to be thinking of the game as "lol it's a walking sim", and that everything is just boring and fine until out of nowhere it springs some dismemberment on you. No - it advertises itself as a dark psychological thriller up front:

horror1otjob.png

It places the reviews describing it as 'horror' front and center:

horror279j06.png

It's M / 18-rated and clearly places warnings of the content on both Steam and the PS store:

pegi18rrjxp.png

horror36rjvb.png

warning2psj9k.png

So the game passed all of the rating organization reviews without cuts (which is important, because there are still products banned from sale till this day). It even received cultural monetary support from the EU:

eufund3yjhr.png

Do you think they would happily offer up money to something like this if it was just interactive gore porn and didn't have artistic value? Will people be writing angry letters now to the EU demanding they pull their support? Are the EU - dare I say it - now based?

This decision was purely because of Sony wanting to virtue signal, nothing more. The ratings agencies deemed it okay, many players have expressed anger that they now cannot play it as is, and so the whole thing reeks of Sony acting as a moral arbiter. It's unsurprising though, now that the company's balance of power has tipped from glorious Nippon to woke Californians with a clueless English bloke at the helm.

If Sony hadn't done this, it would simply be another case of "if you don't like it, don't play it". It's that simple. Choice would be placed back in the hands of players. It is one game out of literally 10s of thousands released yearly. Which, as an indie game, let's face it: you wouldn't have known about if not for this news.

Great points. I'd also like to add that horror games, the great ones, all have that in common. Oftentimes there's a feeling(s) of discomfort, confusion, dread, disgust, etc. It's part of the experience. After watching the scene in question - yes, it's gross and yes, it aligns with what I would expect in a horror game.

Yep, that is kind of the point in horror games. Outlast had the genital mutilation scene. Dead Space 2 had the eyeball scene. PT literally had a talking, deformed fetus in a bloody sink. Ubisoft graces us with more horrifying shit every time they launch a new game. This isn't new.

The Whistleblower DLC was something else, wasn't it? The Groom was so well-done that the actual cannibal character was overshadowed for me.

Funny thing that all these defenders of censorship weren't up in arms at the time for that innit? (Nah, not really. Console warriors will be console warriors).

I do *love* Outlast though. Such a simple and fun little indie game. The DLC was even better. I need to get back into II at some point.
