Even in the brief moments he shows up in Miles Morales its still bad. I don't care about the reason they gave because it wasn't good enough to justify a change like this. The fact it was after one game and no other character received a redesign makes it even more egregious. But with any luck maybe they'll make another face change for the second game since it seems so arbitrary for them. Hopefully better combat too because I didn't even play the Arkham games and still got bored with it near the end,Miles Morales is a slight improvement though.

Only time I can remember a developer making a drastic change to a characters face for a rerelease of the same game was the Tomb Raider reboot.

Yep, when i replayed the remaster edition on ps5 the annoying redhead got arrested for child molesting while talking to peter in a cutscene.

It looks more real, but it is a bland ass baby face compared to the original.

Yeah graphically but also too different to be the same character. He could have been updated and still look similar in design,its not like faces last gen were blocky polygonal messes.

No idea about this one, but who they based there characters on had some "intresting choices". My favourite was Black Cat for example.

Yep they decided to base Black Cat on this intresting character (who happens to be a writer for them).

Honestly they probably just wanted it to sort of look like the Disney version and have people buy into it based on that.

Bugged me at first but got used to it after a playthings and with MM.

Looks a lot more like Yuri face shape wise which is why they made the change in the first place, lips especially.

I never it on ps4, so now I get to play remaster and MM. Installed and ready. About to play... probably after elden ring lol

Honestly they have other people credited as the actor for her, but Sam Maggs was in charge of Black Cats's design and writing, she's moved on to rewrite KOTOR recently.

But from what I've seen on Morales, that's no problem with the new model. Didn't miss at all the old face.

It couldn't be more simple.
People don't only care about gameplay, they play this game for the character and stories, they don't like seeing the character changed.

For me though, it's an improvement, since I always thought the character was hideous.

I couldn't care less, but what a weird take about the combat? Did you play on easy? And Miles combat is literally a lot more limited, since you don't have nearly the same amount of gadgets to play around with. You have some Venom powers and can be invisible, which makes the stealth a lot easier. Either way, you can pull absolutely crazy stuff with the combat in both. And on the higher difficulty you will need to incorporate every tool you have.

Honestly, they're both bad. The original looked odd, but conveyed important elements of Peter's character. You could believe he was a science nerd, and he looked old enough to be a mentor to Miles.

New one looks like complete crap and doesn't fit the game at all. Actively drags down the entire thing for me.

I disagree.
They changed the face's proportions (mouth, nose, eyes, eyebrow proportions) to better match the voice actor's.

It makes more sense if they're going to use motion capture on the actor's face for the sequel and that way they can record directly his facial expressions directly matching his speech. Just like they do in movies nowadays.





They did it just to decrease the amount of production time/cost and increase Mocap + VA fidelity.


It's fine. It's just a videogame character and it's not like he got uglier/fatter/girlier/whatever to appeal to some fringe demographic.
