Cyberpunk 2077 & Witcher Next-Gen still on Track for 2022

I'm itching for my 5th playthrough of Witcher 3 but want to know first exactly what changes will be made in the "next gen" version. I play on PC so I know they're incorporating some mods but I'm curious if they're going to actually change the combat or anything.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I would have loved it if the Witcher's update came out around the holiday period at least.

Don't exactly have a lot of faith in Cyberpunk anymore.

I doubt these guys will be able to implement a function to import PS4 saves into the PS5 build. That’s way too high-tech for them. I’ll not start the game from scratch.

I am not sure what to expect from Witcher and cyberpunk next gen updates.
If its only resolution bump and fps increase it shouldn’t take so long to implement it, heck even now witcher 3 runs at 60fps on xsx, i am thinking that this update will be bigger then we except because of the time it’s being developed. Will see.

They did exactly that with witcher 2 > witcher 3

Don't expect fireworks. Funny that it takes so much time to improve so minor things. RT implementation is useless.

I don't think much people want fireworks tho, they want something that's up to date.

However this should be easy to do, and won't take them much effort.

Only thing i want in a remaster of witcher 3 remaster
- easy modding tool
- updated textures + more detailed objects in general
- RT, lighting from just that + reflections will be huge gain for the game as there is lots of water to be found.
- DLSS will be godly, finally shimmering is entirely gone
- updated models
- better support for different resolutions
- huge improvement on destruction and physics
- hairworks being replaced with something far better for hair rendering or a updated solution for this
- lights / shadows / drawdistances / grass increases
- better wildlife
- complete rebuild of the combat solution, just get something like mordor combat going or something.
- up to date ui's etc.

On which game ?

On cyberpunk I'm pretty sure that there wont be some save import (I might be wrong). They seem to be changing a lot of things & it would add a lot of complexity and less leeway for them if they must take into account all previous saves.

And after all a lot of game don't let you import your saves.

To be honest, while CP2077 memes can be funny, I still hope that eventually that game will be improved enough to be a decent cyberpunk gaming experience.

Not to be a debby downer but you should lower your expectations considerably. Out of all those I expect only DLSS and RT reflections. hopefully I'm wrong.

What are the main problems with the console versions at this point? Are there still alot of glitches or just performance stuff?
They're a lot more stable, and playable to be honest, but that's come at the expense of paring NPC and traffic density way back and they're still pretty ugly and don't run great.

Should have jettisoned the last gen versions out of the airlock a year before release tbh.

Can’t wait for both. Cyberpunk is great on PC but console owners deserve to play what I played too.

Nah, it sucks on every platform. The meaningless open world is the same, the NPCs dumb AI is the same, the lack of impactful choices is the same, the meaningless life paths are the same...

I know PC players love to make it sound like they played a completely different game, but the main flaws are the same on every version. Played on PS5 or Series X, the game actually performed okay.

To be fair, I thought the story and characters were good. So played as a linear adventure game, it was good. As a RPG, it was bad though. The open world side activites were terrible. The linearity was awful too for a RPG.

It was released in an unfinished state... on every platform. The game is obviously unplayable on old gen consoles (PS4/XBO) and should never have been released on them, but the problems of this game go far beyond the bugs and performance.

Screw RT, I would like them to release a bug-free version of cyberpunk first. I have had the game for a while through one of the many sales it had on target for $9.99, but haven't even taken the disc out of the case unless this next-gen patch comes out.

Anyone play it on the xbox series s? How does it run?
2nd best Console port out there atm probably, maybe even the best.

Yes you're limited to 30fps and a resolution that ranges between 1080p - 1440p but the frame rate is rock solid and the crowd density is great.

The PS5 was what I used for my first play through and I would've recommended that instead if it wasn't for the updates to the PS4 version completely killing the atmosphere of Night City by removing all traffic and NPC density to get it to run on the PS4 base. The Xbox Series S and X have an advantage by being allowed to have some next gen lite features like the ability to have more NPC density and traffic.

I'm waiting for my free Witcher 3 upgrade on PC to play it again. It's the single player game I have played the most. Don't know how it will feel now that Ghost of Tsushima spoiled me with better than average fighting gameplay.
I always viewed the fighting as a necessary and not particularly fun part of advancing the quests and story. As an rpg it’s great but the controls, character movement and fighting is janky as.

Expect the Witcher to get the entire set of raytracing features that Cyberpunk has.

They claimed one of the reasons for W3 big delays was that they underestimated the amount of work needed for going on a full RT pipeline, notably for the lighting that is very "artistic" and authored in the base game and that they do not want to lose by going into RT.

Cyberpunk will be nothing more than graphics and performance enhancements,no cut content or features added back
I still hope they'll eventually give us the Deus Ex GTA we'd been promised.

Yep, its honestly fucking ridiculous considering they promised that upgrade in q1 of 2021 initially. More lies from cdpr’s house of bullshit
I don't understand this either. Are they not adding just a few effects and porting the PC version otherwise? How does that require an announcement 1 year ahead of time. Especially in the case of GTA 5, they are simply increasing the settings/resolution it does not make sense...

i've gave up caring about Cyberpunk. if they add a good amount of content and enhancements to gameplay/QoL then i might go back to it but for me the game needs a serious rework and i don't see that happening and i don't have the energy to hope for it.

i'm more excited for updated Witcher 3. i'm itching to replay the game especially after S2 of the show.

The Xbox One version of this game still hits 12fps at times.
And CDPR made an announcement that they're satisfied with the performance of the game on 8th gen machines. Then they took at 3 month vacation.

If you're expecting some kind of grand miracle improvement to the PS5/XSX versions of this game, you're nuts.

Nothing is on track with this company, I really think they need to stfu and just shock people with a short release window ala Fallout 4.

At this point the PR statements are becoming meme worthy and they need to simply hold off on saying anything, until its actually time. I'm not saying don't communicate updates or patches or how the team is doing etc, but we don't need to hear this shit about "on track for 2022" on some shit that should have been done in 2020 and a next gen patch for Witcher 3 that is taking more time then it really should. With so many delays, push backs, controversy, the don't need to keep adding fuel to the fire.

Wait til its playable and 3 months out and make a surprise release or something.

So glad I played this on PC. It was a pretty good game. Obviously the story was lacking and the world wasn’t what was promised but it looked great, ran great and was a fun 50 hours or so.

Yeah the 30 fps is teh thing I worry about and if it has motion blur.Tempted to get it for 30 on sale and hope maybe the next gen patch comes out soon and it gets 60 fps

What's the current performance like on series x? I haven't done the DLC and want to play it. Was gonna wait but they keep delaying it so I might just go ahead.

How come GTA + Witcher 3 next gen versions are taking so long

There's a global pandemic about causing delays and shift in development cycles the world over for many things, not just gaming ..

Maybe they shouldn’t have announced anything so soon I mean they announced the Witcher next gen patch back in September 2020

I understand, but I also want to be a little sympathetic towards that developers, they already have a massive trash fire in the form of cyberpunk to take care of as well, adding another big project on top of that couldn't have been easy for them.
