Zelda Ocarina of Time: Kakariko Village - Unreal Engine 5

I hope this concept will inspire you! 🙏
As a fan who grew up with the legendary Zelda Ocarina of Time, I always wanted to see what the environments could look like with today's technologies such as 4K resolution and DLSS but also the new features of Unreal Engine 5 like the real time global illumination Lumen and the powerful Nanite allowing me to work with film quality assets. The first episode of this series is dedicated to Kakariko village where I wanted to recreate and show my vision of the village with a next gen look and feel.

The aim of this series is to present different environments that I would like to create as part of my learning process in order to become a better artist. In order to make it more immersive, I'm also learning a bit to code to have a playable character and show you another perspective.

Looks better than most of these fan remakes, but still artistically "wrong". And holy shit that wobbly 3rd person camera, that's absolutely awful.

that looks amazing!!!

Please, please Nintendo we need OOT Remake!!!

On what lol? The Switch can't run anything remotely on this level.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
It's detailed and realistic.. But it doesn't feel like Kakariko Village to me.

It's a fuckin' slideshow. Looks great when you pause the video, but looks terrible in motion? Not to mention that it's severely windy with all the shit flying around and clothes moving.

As is typical with projects like this, they just paint the entire thing with foliage and it looks so fake.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
I remember playing the N64 version growing up, it had the best soundtracks, weapons and one of the most underrated open worlds in gaming but why is everyone being negative about this creation? You got to remember what the original looked like

That kind of looks like what I’d expect Twilight Princess to look like if a Remake were made for the PS4 or Xbox One

Too busy. Too much foliage and random stones and shit. I'd imagine the second (third?) biggest human settlement in Hyrule would be less "we just built some houses and shit on top of the wilderness,"

Wind makes sense, since there's a windmill that I imagine wouldn't be worth much if there wasn't common wind. On the other hand, why do all these new takes on OoT look like they happen in TP's Twilight Realm? So much brown and orange.

And that camera looks like some unlockable Drunk Mode Naughty Dog would put in an Uncharted game or some shit. That paired with Link walking around like a Fortnite character and I deliver a hard pass to this man's proof of concept.

It looks beautiful (like pretty much every UE5 demo) , but performance is all over the place. I'd love to know what hardware it's running on, and what the target resolution is.

I swear we get at least one of these Zelda Unreal tech demoes every gen. It's like a tradition at this point :messenger_tears_of_joy:

And they all continue to suffer from that same exact issue, a complete lack of interesting art direction.
