LTTP: Just played and finished TLOU2

What a bloated bore fest. Felt like I played 2.5 games.

What were Naughty Dog thinking adding boring strolls around Aquariums, Museums, playing the guitar etc. knowing very well the game is already going to be huge with 2 campaigns. Really enjoyed Ellies campaign and would have been happy if they finished it with her at that moment.

But no we got another campaign trying to make us feel sympathy for Abby and her crew which really didn't work for me. Lev and Yaras story was refreshing I might add.

Just when you think it was over there's a finale just for the sake of Abby and Ellie meeting again. Honestly what a bore it was too.

I know it's a rant but really surprised with Naughty Dog since I have enjoyed all their PS3 and PS4 games in the past. Didn't play this because of the spoilers that were leaked but decided to give it a chance. Really disappointed.

Sorry mods, couldn't find a thread where I could post my opinion on the game because they are closed.

Yeah people around here don't take too kindly to people not liking this game. I have been reply banned from several topics by fanboys who need their hive mind safe space when it comes to this one. It's funny how these same people will bitch about resetera silencing opinions, while they themselves silence different opinions. Oh well.

Wtf I cannot understand how can anyone have this harsh opinion on it.
the game is like an empathy test. You can fast see who is stubborn and jaded.
IMO the game is a masterpiece. Graphics, gameplay, story and characters.
funny thing is, I kinda hated half of it but I let go and the game won me over big time.
like it teaches a lesson….

The game is slow and serious. It’s just not for everyone

this is the best review.

Yeah, those aquarium sections are a bore on the second play through. Infinity ward let you ship the airport terrorist section, let us skip this torture please.

The game was definitely too long. Didn’t care for Abby and her crew. Couldn’t give two shits about Yara and lev. Boring characters.

A lot of people hate the pacing of that game. The campaign swap is certainly ambitions but it does have its share of issues. Virtually every streamer i saw playing on twitch was ho-hum on the game. I love it, but there are significant problems, thats why the metacritic score never soared either.

If it's not for everyone, you should not care to label people as "stubborn and jaded" then.
Who are you to judge people based on what they like and what they do not? Stick to your own side of the street if you can't handle others thoughts that don't line up with yours.

Now you are shilling that garbage ass YouTube channel? There's no hope for you, and definitely no reasoning with you. Ciao.

I like the game a lot, but all these slow paced look backs really took away from the game. Abby’s campaign had a level or two I enjoyed but overall I wish they just added that bit of extra content with Ellie and wrapped it up.

Games far too long and all of Abbys mates are absolute knob heads. Ellie sections are awesome and Abby and lev was awesome but so much of it could have been cut.

Overall a great game that is far too long but wraps up very well.

No inkling to ever play it again and I've completed 1 like 6 times.

Game lenght is good, but i also felt it was dragging too much after the farm scene. If i was enjoying the game more the game leght would have been perfect, but i was disliking so much to play with Abby (even if her gameplay section was actually better), that some of the late sections of the game felt like a chore, and only thing pushing me forward was the curiosity in seeing how the game would end.

I tryed to replay the game a second time and once i got to the second part of the game i just droped it. 1st game from Naughty Dog since Uncharted 1 that i didnt platinum.

Graphics and Gameplay were exceptional. The length of the game simply killed any intrigue. Ellies campaign was perfection and I would have been happy if it finished there.

The majority of PS fans played TLOU1 3-4 times and they are still returning to it each year. With TLOU2 all the discussion ended on those 2-3 months. You will see the consequences of druckmanns decisions on TLOU3 preorders. TLOU1 was all about the struggles and the relationship dynamics between a wounded father and a girl. Nobody cares abouts Abby’s past, present or future. NOBODY!

I love the walking and exploring moments like the museum and the aqaurium. Gives a nice change of pace to the brutal combat and has some of the most touching moments of the series, like the astronaut segment.
The astronaut one was the best of them. I thought they should have left it at one or two. I can’t remember how many between the two campaigns but it feels like 7 or 8 were used. It got immersion breaking for me particularly when they started up with Abby’s campaign .

The whole game narrative falls apart if you have one simple and perfectly reasonable thought from the beginning.

"Yeah Joel kinda had it coming didn't it?"

If you think just that, the whole Ellie campaign becomes a slog because you think shes being stupid, and the whole Abby campaign becomes an annoying preaching fest because you also understand there are no shortage of reasons someone might've wanted to take revenge on Joel. In fact it has the opposite effect because Abby and her friends are so unlikeable, not to mention the ridiculous lenghts they go to try and make you feel sympathetic for her just turn you off even more.

People stopped after 2-3 months........but people are still talking about it more than a year later.

Hmm... I wonder how that works out.

I watched many streams earlier this year and the majority enjoyed it. Few people hated it. I don't know why people think their opinion is shared by the majority.

It’s not this black and white. I really liked Abby and Owen. Others were assholes.
I feel the game goes meta and makes you feel how it wants… even if it is through the solid gameplay sections

I still feel weird whatever anybody says Abby campaign was boring or bad.

I mean they really played the game?

Abby’s campaign is basically the peak of quality Naught Dog ever created.

I get you didn’t like what happened with Joel but that hate should not blind you from how great it was.

It's interesting how you are not saying this to the two people in particular in this topic who foolishly believe that "it's a perfect game and if you do not like it you have bad taste in games"

This is why I can't stand people who like this game.

The Joel and Young Ellie flashback was one of my favorite parts of the game cuz was the closest thing to the brilliance that was the 1st game.
Same here, it was one my favorite parts of the sequel. Felt like the gang had gotten back together, if at least just for a small while. Also the part with Tommy and Joel when they were on the lookout was pretty dope with Ellie and Joel getting to take out some infected. That Bloater fight was crazy.

You say this after reacting to DJTaurus' comment, basically giving him the strong handshake on his post?

Don't be a hypocrite.

Yeah it’s a long game for sure, and I can see how some would get bored of the slow moments.

I just go along for the ride with Naughty Dog games. For example, I also don’t have any issues with any of the flashback chapters in Uncharted 4. I feel like they each provide a good backstory and details which overrall enrich the story and make you care about the characters more.

But I do know there are alot of people that criticize the pacing of Uncharted 4 as well.

Lame. This type of response is such a cop out; artificially trying to add a little weight to your own opinion by saying you've banned in the past and "hive" mind of the fans, etc. Say what you want or don't. Let what you say stand on its own. I always say what I have to say regardless of what "fans" of a particular thing have to say (and trust me it is easy to identify them based on the emoji reactions — it's usually the LOL emoji, genuine lol reactions are easy to tell apart).

Anyway, moving on....the TLOU: P2 discussion has been done to death already so I won't repeat what I have stated in the past. I had my problems with the game as well and some of what they did definitely felt forced to me. Overall, I enjoyed the game for what it was. I also think it didn't need to be a revenge tale and they should have focused a little bit more on the thing that has caused the world to basically end, the cordyceps.

Agree it was far too long. I was hoping it finished at the barn but then it cut to the beach section. I loved the game but I understand the criticisms. It would’ve been cool if they had somehow stumbled across Joel’s old house, even as Abby while she’s tracking him down.. would’ve been nice to get some more backstory but whatever

If you dont like the game you have poor taste and should stick to video gamey ass video games and MP focused shoot em up fests.

Game is an objective masterpiece
im not crying youre crying GIF

It’s good for people to have different opinions on things. Can’t believe what a ridiculous statement this is.

The games good, but way too long in my opinion. That’s all I’ll say in case people start crying that we all don’t have the same opinion.
