Cyberpunk 2077 Is Being Flooded With Very Positive Reviews On Steam

I got a rtx 3080 last week so I’m excited to try this out again.

For me the issues with CP2077 are that it was touted to be the next level of open world games, but fundamentally it was worse than even Witcher 3. The only thing that’s ooh la la is the visuals. The game is a solid 6-7/10 by the books kind of game. It isn’t special.

That said I like to look at bad ass visuals

Everyone who says the game ran relatively well on PC at launch is either a liar, or has very low standards.

Yes, it was playable.

But holy shit, pretending like there weren't major flaws and acting like you didn't have to reload a save so many times because a quest glitches out and you cant progress so you frantically find where was the last save you made before the mission start is ridiculous.

Bunch of people who would probably get scammed and robbed in broad daylight by someone pretending to be "Rob from high school."

Dont get me wrong, I love the game from its narrative perspective and how they immersed you into the world, but a lot of us really forget - or pretend - that this game was in any shape or form near to an acceptable state upon release.

It was acceptable by "I'm stuck in a lockdown, life sucks, and god knows I need something to entertain me" standards, not by any measure of an actual standard.
I had good performance on ultra non-rt and only had to reload a save once through 2 play throughs. A drone on the tower driving mission got stuck in the ground.

Excellent game!!

My experience with CP2077 since day 1 back when it released was very good. There were a few glitches like objects floating such as car doors, cigarettes, cell phones, etc, or poor object placement where I couldn't pick up something, or a few NPC's stuck behind an invisible wall, or a model T-posing for a short moment, or the mini map glitching a bit, or all of a sudden for a moment cars would pop in and out of existence when speeding down the highway on Jackie's bike, or overlapping audio/missing audio. All minor stuff to me though annoying and immersion breaking. I have not ever had, thus far, any game breaking glitch that prevented me from finishing any mission that I started that I can recall or from finishing the game.

I enjoyed the visuals, the story, the quests though there is a lot I have yet to experience for all the ones I did not start or finish. The gameplay is really fun and easy enough to learn and grasp. My edition of CP2077 is on PC from GOG and I did not have many of the issues people were complaining about such as unattractive looking water, blurry NPC's/objects, poor performance and so on.

These are some of my screenshots of when the game came out and what it looked like for me before a lot of the updates that has improved the game's performance and visuals and gameplay mechanics. Though this seems to be my only screenshot taken with the natural background on the release date...I guess I was too busy playing the game and having fun and enjoying the real time ray tracing, lol.

August 27, 2021 after an update that included free stuff and visual improvements and a bunch of other fixes, improvements, etc. Initially, I couldn't tell if it was because I had not been playing for awhile that I was impressed all over again or if the graphics looked even better than I remembered, lol.

Overall, I would give CP2077 a 8.5 out of 10. Good replay value too so I'm excited about replaying when I get around to it. Right now though I am trying to finish my other games I started like Lost Judgement and Resident Evil Village on the Village of Shadows difficulty.

It’s almost one year since the game was released, and it seems like the developers have indeed redeemed themselves and managed to deliver the title they initially envisioned. Nobody ever doubted Cyberpunk 2077‘s potential in terms of its gameplay, narrative, or mechanics. However, all that potential was hidden due to the lack of polish.
I wasn't a Cyberpunk hater I enjoyed it, but this is a joke. It hasn't changed that much since launch. A few bugs here and there but far from what was initially promised.

I was wondering, have any of you bought Cyberpunk during black Friday sales?

If so, what do you think of it ? I did And i have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised. I can't put it down to be honest. To precise, I bought on series S. There's tons of quality content, I'm having quite a blast, 20 hours in and barely scratch the surface yet!!

I was thinking of getting it for the PS5, but not sure if I should wait for the PS5 version or not (is it still happening?)

Still laughing at people blaming old hardware for the problems with the game. As if it isn't missing fundamental RPG mechanics. As if it wasn't still buggy as hell, even on next gen consoles. PC people claiming "I had zero issues", sure sure sure. People are still acting like the story was great, because they have to pretend like something about CP2077 was good. (The characters were good, the story is laughably bad).
A year later, and CDPR is still trying to lie their way out of culpability with this game.

I bought it at launch and then ignored it for all this time waiting for it to be fixed. If it's really in a good state now, I suppose I ought to dive in.

Maybe you didnt understand my post correctly

Why do you thing that I'm happy for the devs? I think that they have created a good/ sometimes great game.

But at the same time that people are rewarding CDPR for the quality of the game, they are also giving money to executives that rushed the fucking thing, straight up lied to customers about the game's state.

I'm not sayingt hat they shouldnt buy or appreciate the game, its just a shitty situation
Lol, what a broken opinion. So, a player buying the game:
  • A year after it came out
  • At a heavy discount
  • After the company was taken to task by the entire internet for rushing the game
  • After the company lost an insane amount of good will with its fanbase
  • After the company issued a no questions asked refund across all platforms and was punished by Sony for doing so
  • After well over a dozen updates, hotfixes, and patches to get the PC version in a good spot
  • After the company issued multiple statements and re-committed to a free next gen update and free DLC multiple times
Is still somehow "rewarding" an "executive" for rushing the game a year ago? Based on your terrible YouTube click-bait logic, there clearly isn't any circumstance under which a player can buy the game and not "give money to executives that rushed the fucking thing". So, yeah, you are saying people shouldn't buy the game under any circumstances. The "shitty situation" happened a year ago. Everyone who wasn't happy got a no questions asked refund and a public apology. What more did you want?

ArtHands

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
A suspiciously large amount of negative reviews in a short time frame is regarded as reviewbombing,A suspiciously large amount of positve reviews in a short time frame is regarded as normal
There’s been an influx of players on Steam in recent days, considering it broke its highest concurrent users record too.
Cyberpunk 2077 ain’t the only Steam game to have large amount of reviews in recent days

I mean yes the game is still terrible trash on consoles. On PC though it is good and has gotten even better with the various updates

Lots of these issues apply to shitloads of other AAA games tho, including many acclaimed ones.

I mean, its still fair criticism, but if you're going to complain about this type of thing you must apply the same standard to other games like The Witcher 3, Deus Ex, loads of Ubi games, RDR2, Bethesda, yada yada. In short, when talking about issues with game mechanics, its not really much different than other stuff of similar budget out there.

Its kinda surreal seeing this guy crapping all over Cyberpunk then turning around and praising Skyrim and The Witcher 3 out of all things. The Witcher 3 specially because pretty much all of the criticism he applies to Cyberpunk can be applied to The Witcher 3.
Bethesda games are much more broken than w3 at launch imo.

Setting the bar pretty low there, fallout 4 has some of the worst storytelling in the history of RPG's.

I disagree. The main story is one of my favourites of last gen. The side quests are great too, they have there little stories.

Your standards are low.

Literally every fallout that came before it shits all over it. Even B games like Elex have more depth in their storytelling and quest design.

Lol just because someone has a different opinion, you accuse them of low standards. Not smart.

If your bar for good storytelling is Fallout 4 then I'm sorry to say it, but yes, you do have low standards. The game has it's merits depending on what you look for in a game but storytelling and quest design definitely aren't part of that.

It's not even open for debate.

I enjoyed fallout 4s story a bit more then new Vegas's, primary because the gen 7 jank of new vegas really detracts from the experience.

Anyway this debate your attemting is really dumb, next your gonna try and say story quality is objective.

Please dont be that guy.

There is no debate, it is and I am that guy in this case.

If you want to say that 4's storytelling is better than NV's then I can't help you. Can't fix bad taste.

I never said FO4 has a better story then NV. There about the same, though I enjoyed FO4 because its more modern.

You just cant accept that somone really likes FO4......weird.

I'll chime in and say Fallout 3 while still a bit inferior in choices compared the NV, it's much more enjoyable overall from atmosphere to side quests. New Vegas was ugly as shit and empty af. Fallout 4 is ofc the worst but it does have that base building which could give players a ton of hours/variety.

I've watched this game with a hate boner for awhile, just laughing at the idiocy of CD projekt and all the influencers who fell over themselves trying to give positive reviews about it.

Still haven't played it though as I was waiting for an update to the ps5 version. They delayed it till first quarter of 2022.

I cant think of many other sci fi fps Rpg's and i really liked fallout 4's story.
Maybe it comes down to preference, but man I really disliked the story, characters and world of F4. Took me over a year to force myself to finish the game.
CP2077 has great story, characters and writing imo. I'd say that would be the main reason to play the game. But again, people like different stuff.

Without any big spoilers what is the main quest in cp2077? Is it some mystery like the last 3 fallout games have?

You have an imaginary friend in your head and you're dying slowly.

And im guessing you have to find out why your dying which undoubtedly will be a complex web of powerful enterties all engaged in some larger outcome.

Sounds pretty fallouty and mysterious. I think i will give it a whirl.

Without any spoilers... You become a mercenary in Night City in hopes of becoming a Night City legend. You are given a big heist job from one of the bigger fixers in the city to steal a valuable chip, the heist goes very wrong and by the end of it you have the imprint of Johnny Silver Hand in your head who is an actual Night City legend and you are also slowly dying. You try to find a cure for the whole dying thing while trying to get rid of Johnny, you can befriend him or keep an uneasy alliance with him. That's the gist of it without major spoilers.

MidGenRefresh condensed it better than me.

No, the reason why you're dying is clear as day. You're trying to find a way to stay alive.

The main motivation is nothing ground breaking but some of the characters you meet along the way are very interesting.

Oh.. in that case is sounds pretty boring, if there is not some larger more complecated plot.

Its why I love fallout stories they start off small, but then keep ramping up.

There’s a lot more to this than just you dying, in fact one of the only flaws in the story is that it is, in the end, more about Johnny than about V (but I won’t spoil if you intend to play it).

Also the characters you interact with are the best part of the game. Panam, River Ward, Judy, Takemura etc they are literally all really well written and interesting. In my opinion even minor characters like Jackie’s girlfriend and mother have more character development and personality than the main companions in Fallout games (except Cass, Cass is great).

But again it’s all subjective at this point.

What is the mission variety like? Of course theres going to be a lot of shooting, but is it broken up with other tasks like gaining some information or seeing a character for some specific reason etc.
I hate it where a games main activity is tedious and it become a chore necessary to progress the story.

It's immersive-sim light, gameplay basically revolves around direct fight, infiltration & hacking to reach an objective in a vicinity in the way you want.

Sometimes missions are purely dialogue driven, other times you are in arenas, you have dectective works, etc etc...

It's quite diverse actually. Just play it

There’s a lot of Batman style investigation where you review recordings from characters (first person recordings usually before their death) to look for audio and video clues, maybe even a bit too much. Then there’s some classic shooting (still a lot) and a few (scripted) chase sequences.

Please spend the money on bug fixes instead of hiring people making new accounts and writing positive reviews. Your game is still broken and incomplete.
the situation certainly seems suss as fuck, it's not like they fixed everything that was wrong and gave away huge updates a la no mans sky.

I'm positive that's exactly what they did, found a bunch of people willing to shill a positive review. They had already run out of them shitty yellow gaming chairs they used to buy off all the youtubers with so i guess they just cheaped out gave out a steam key in exchange for a positive review. I mean cd project have already been caught out lying their heads off, it's not out the realms of possibility the lengths they would go to in trying to get it back in the limelight before they pulled a bait & switch before release with those feature trailers about how it would be going into every supposed small detail.

Is it possible on steam to see what games a person owns & plays when they write a review? Would instantly be a give away if the only game they owned & played was cp.

So much hyperbole about this game. It's either perfect or the worst game in history while frankly both are way off mark.

I've completed it twice on PC, once in the first few weeks following release and it was no worse bugs wise than a good percentage of games are these days. Some games are perfect polished gems and this for sure wasn't but to argue it was unplayable is simply wrong.

The big issues for me (outside of hiding the last gen versions which was disgusting) were the marketing selling something that didn't exist and the half arsed approach to the open world making it an easy target for ridicule.

The fact there is no police or civilian AI is apparent to anyone that has gone on a rampage and the sandbox doesn't even compare to early open world games nevermind GTA5 and RDR2. To me it would have been better if they just locked the player out from doing that - everyone is filled with microchips so it would have been easy to justify no civilian casualties in game.

I loved the story (even if it was mostly super linear which again the marketing suggested wasn't the case) and think it would have been better as a game just set in an open world rather than a half arsed RPG sandbox affair.

Look at all the big PS4 open world games and how shallow and limited they are (not picking on PS4 other than these were huge, well reviewed games and I can't think of any XB1 open world exclusives).

Spiderman has a linear story and no clip friendly NPCs with no apparent AI.

Days Gone and Horizon have linear stories and lock your weapons anywhere there are friendly NPCs and the NPC are either rooted to the ground or move in a small loop so literally need no AI.

Ghost of Tshusima has a frustratingly linear story that ignores how you actually play the game and again has no clip friendly NPCs that are mostly rooted to the ground so no need to program AI.

I know there was a bit of very minor backlash about a couple of the above games and how the worlds felt fake (especially Days Gone and Horizon) but nothing like the backlash Cyberpunk got when people realised the game let you do something (attack random NPCs) but didn't actually have functioning AI if you did. Surely someone at CDPR must have foreseen this..

I think Cyberpunk would have been better if they just justified some in game reason you couldn't violently interact with NPCs and then spent more time faking an open world that the player couldn't easily break and focus on crafting a great story. I doubt anyone hated the Witcher 3 (another 'faked' open world for that matter yet still one of the best games last gen) because you couldn't murder civilians.
