Xbox Series X in Quality Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2400x1800. Xbox Series X in Quality Mode uses temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 3840x2160 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution.

Xbox Series X in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1390x960. Native resolution pixel counts at 2560x1440 seem to be very rare on Xbox Series X in Performance Mode. Xbox Series X in Performance Mode mode uses temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 2560x1440 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution.

The only resolution found on Xbox Series S in Quality Mode was 1920x1080.

Xbox Series S in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest resolution found being 1440x1080. Not to go full dcmk7 dcmk7 , but the XSS running at 1080p30 is a bit of a yike. Especially since there seems to be a lot of overhead available, considering it also runs at mostly 1080p60 without a problem.


Tbf the damn thing should never have been made imo. Was never a fan of it. But I get what they were going for.

You know the saying "you get what you pay for". Rings true here.

Runs well on everything. One X > Series S (higher res and almost the same fps), interesting. The player looks kinda jittery in 30fps on those 3 consoles.
It's pretty strange.

Thought we would be getting bigger differences between the two generations tbh. Especially with the development time they have had.

Weird that the quality mode is 1080p on XSS, the performance mode is also 1080p most of the time so unless settings are way different there should be plenty of overhead to go higher.

But this lines up with my experience on the 3 xbox consoles I own, framerate is very solid on XSS and XSX and you can see the One S being pushed to its limits.

Advertising the game at 4K 120 FPS that actually runs less than 1080p 120 FPS is extremely disingenuous, no matter the company or game.

Also, why did they remove the 120 FPS mode in Series S? It was pretty good in the Beta and should have been kept, especially considering it's an FPS that would benefit from higher FPS. I hope they bring it back.

Series S version seems pretty wack. Maybe itll get a bump before full launch.

Havent tried High Frame Rate mode yet. Might give that a go today.

I just think this is a bad industry practice overall and usually comes at the cost of most gamers who aren't aware of the intricacies and technicalities.

That says PC with stunning 4k. Series X as well as PC 120 FPS.

Edit: Hmm actually maybe not.
*Up to 120FPS and 4K Ultra HD available on Xbox Series X consoles and compatible PCs only across supported maps and modes; compatible TV or monitor required.

Strongly disagree there, I played on an old Xbox One yesterday and it ran terribly. Even with about 20 minutes of configuring settings and even with going wired controller, the input lag and frame rate was horrendous. I was telling my bro that not even Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 ran like this and that was nearly 15 years ago. I think Halo: Infinite was meant to be played on the XSX because the frames honestly reminded me of the area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the Great Deku Tree where the frame rate dropped to levels that even I could tell were fucked. This is the first time in a shooter, FPS, that I was able to recognize a disadvantage stemming from the frame rate

With a few helpful youtube vids we were able to maximize the performance but it still runs noticeably poor when you look around to locate an enemy, to aim and shoot etc. If anyone knows how to properly optimize the game for less input lag and better frame rate on Xbox One plz let me know. I think we did just about everything in the settings menu but it still runs with a fucked up frame rate

Series S getting slated but I actually think it looks great in performance mode on my Series S and performance is solid. I am playing on a 24 inch 1080p monitor though rather than a fuck off 4k TV.

The S has a more stable framerate. The 1X has a higher resolution.

But no one should buy a SeriesS if they want to game at 1440-2160p.

Its like buying an iphone SE but you want a 6+ inch screen.

Or buying buying a PS5 digital when u want to buy physical games.

Its a pretty obvious troll when people make complaints about a product when it was not designed for the thing they are complaining about.

Played all the versions, Series S is better than the One X version. It's pointless playing at 30fps when you can play at 60fps so that mode is pretty much useless. Both on performance mode the resolution seems pretty much the same but the One X version does hitch occasionally with framerate drops, Series S loads a lot quicker and had Quick Resume, so it's the better version.

Finally something I can agree with you on.

Ultimately the game runs damn smooth and is legit great to look at on my Series X.

The fact that one of the biggest games of the year isn't getting any comments in the VGTech or Digital Foundry threads is strange like everyone know they can't say anything about the pixel count without getting banned or something.
