The need to go back to Handhelds, it be like listing MS In-House PC games of the past.
When it comes to console gaming, NCL the same old sequels each time Splatoon IP was the one great exception and just showed what could happen when NCL allowed their teams do try something new. Arms wasn't bad either.
But let's look forward to more sequels to Mario and Zelda Smash Bro, Yoshi and Mario Tennis/Golf sequels outsourced

It's the Nintendo way.
If we use your definitions then Smash Bros., Yoshi and most recent Zelda and Mario titles wouldn't count either since they are made by developers that Nintendo doesn't own.

I'm not saying I don't want Nintendo to publish more new IP. it's definitely something they can do better.

But I think restricting a publisher's games based on developer ownership is quite arbitrary. To me Elden Ring is one of the most exciting new IP coming out next year, and the fact it is not developed in-house by Bandai Namco doesn't matter.

Changing a studio name and merging studios In-House studios together doesn't change they weren't or arent' In-House studios, I've lost count on the number of mergers and name changes SEGA has done with its In-House studios. So don't come on that one. Since the Wii U how many new IPs have NCL made for their major consoles? I think it's basically Arms and Splattoon and that's it, even XBox does better

I'm not talking about changing studio names. I'm saying that if NCL publishes a game then it is a first party title, regardless of the ownership of the studio.

Smash Bros Ultimate isn't developed by a studio owned by NCL, but NCL is still the publisher so it's a first party title. Likewise Astral Chain is published by NCL and so it is a first party title

I also don't get why you are discounting handheld games. If we are discussing the last decade then handheld games are a huge amount of the titles NCL published. New IP published by NCL on the 3DS are still first party titles.

It would be like saying that NCL has done hardly any Zelda and Mario games in the last decade, since handheld titles and non in-house titles "don't count".
