Microsoft’s Xbox backward compatibility program returns with 76 new games

Wasn't Oblivion already 4K/60? Is it just via cloud gaming?

Do any of the FEAR games have resolution enhancements? The FPS boost is great but these sub 720p 360 games look like hot garbage on my TV
I'm curious about this as well. I'm always open to another reason to play through F.E.A.R. again.
So how does BC work with titles like Max Payne 3 that hasnt had any enhancements?. What i mean is i remember the game having a lot of fps drops on 360, so will it now be a locked 30fps on Series consoles, even though it hasnt had any enhancements?.
I would assume so. GTA IV is basically a locked 60 versus 30 with drops.

I REALLY wanted to see Def Jam: FFNY in the list.

Oh well at least have both Otogi games and SW:RoS....and 60fps for GoW:U.....so I'm good.

  • Beautiful Katamari
  • Binary Domain

  • Max Payne 3
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
  • NIER

Not a bad drop considering these are the titles I already own.

FOR THE UNINITIATED
(because I saw that question more than once now)
Xbox 360 games do not get a resolution boost without a special enhanced patch.
this means every 360 title that newly came to the BC program today will run at the same resolution they ran at on 360.
Because none of them got a resolution boost
(called One X enhaced Patch in the past, but that doesn't really fit anymore now that the new consoles are out)

original Xbox games all get resolution boost as a default feature:
Xbox One + One S = 4x boost (480p becomes 960p)
Xbox Series S = 9x boost (480p becomes 1440p)
Xbox One X + Series X = 16x boost (480p becomes 1920p)

Xbox 360 titles that get a resolution boost:
Xbox One + One S = NO BOOST
Xbox Series S = 4x boost (720p becomes 1440p)
Xbox One X + Series X = 9x Boost (720p becomes 2160p)

an Xbox 360 game that got an FPS boost today, Sonic Generations, already had a resolution boost to 2160p and therefore now runs at 4K 60fps

I hope this helps

wait a few hours, that should sort itself out... if it doesn't, maybe Rockstar games has something to do with it... I would not put it past them to only let Microsoft make them backwards compatible if they then also make it a different licence to the one one XBox 360
Thats what I was fearing, just rechecked and only the third game was ready to install but the original Xbox Paynes both look to be 'bought again'

Gotta be licence bullshitery.

This is bittersweet to me. There are so many games I was looking forward to that finally made it (Max Payne!!!), but Its a bit of a bummer that this is the end of the program. Means I'll have to keep the Xbox 360 and original Xbox hooked up for when I want to go back in time to play some of my nostalgic favorites. I still do love what Microsoft has done with BC, and I'm excited about being able to install a bunch more games!

it still could be the case that the servers update licenses slow. have you tried rebooting your console? sometimes when the store gets updates while your system is running the store can fuck up details

It was never a reality, but Too Human being BC would have been amazing.

On a side note, in on GunValkyrie too.

Too Human is back compat for 3 years now... it even was free (maybe it still is???)

edit: yes it's still free...
Too Human | Xbox

I think it's even classified as a free 2 play game now, meaning you don't even need Xbox Live Gold to play online coop

Wow I really had no idea about this. Been wanting to play it since it's initial release. It's actually a very solid game despite the reviews.

It's still free and installing now. Thanks.

yeah and it's classified as free 2 play, so online modes don't need Xbox Live Gold to play. (same with Crackdown actually)

Any recommendations where to find good deals on these BC titles? I was hoping all would be available for purchase on the XBL Store.

It is and it's free. (Well was free, don't know if it still is)

it is in fact free 2 play, as in classified as a free 2 play game with all the perks that come with it like free online multiplayer.
microsoft did that with a handful of back compat games in fact. Crackdown 1 and 2 also are classified as free 2 play for example
