Unfortunately, this is a given. Those character designs kicked up a fuss even back then.

Ya but I'd imagine after waiting ten years your excitement level would still be about where it is today....
No it wouldn't. Waiting 10 years after the show left I'd be still be excited to see how the visuals would be upgraded.

Today I'd be wondering if they are going to race or gender swap characters, if characters are now lgbtq, if they are going to add in characters for diversity, and if the current issues of today will be somehow be put in to the series. That is a completely different feeling of, to oh, this series that I loved as a child is coming back I wonder how it will look now.

They added user profile pics to Disney+ using these designs and they were shown in the announcement video. It's the same Jim Lee Blue/Gold team designs being used in the show.

Disappointing. I don't think the original holds up very well at all and would have preferred something new and unrelated.

I think you missed the joke homie but admittedly it would've taken more than a cursory glance to get it.

Smells like nostalgia bait. Beyond that I don't have faith in this because of Marvel's track record with animated series/movies.

I can't wait to see the articles from the creators saying that they are now happy they get to touch more on social issues that they couldnt back then. I could be wrong though. Time will tell.

The only Marvel animated series I would like to see revived is Spectacular Spiderman.

They have the original voice actors which is a huge deal. Plus with today's technology we should get more fleshed out action scenes. Hoping they really nail this. They have 2 years.

Not holding my breath on this. Could be good but with Marvel's handling of animation series, not really forward to this

Only way I can see Spectacular continuing is if there's a full transfer of rights for the previous two seasons and future seasons from Sony to Disney. Disney has no reason or incentive to make or revive Spectacular when they can do something new or revive TAS if they wanted to.

Sony didn't give up the merch rights. They had a 50/50 JV with Marvel, Marvel sued and got the JV to be 75/25. Disney bought the remaining 25% from Sony in 2011. The merch rights have nothing to do with the animated TV rights though as that was a vis-a-vis trade with Marvel for more flexibility with the movies. That was done in 2009, prior to the acquisition by Disney.

Animated and under 44 minutes including intro and credits. There are some other limits (i.e. can't use the iteration that is copyrighted by Sony (the movie ones)). Live Action is more complicated, but it's mostly with Sony.

Given who the showrunner is I wouldn't be surprised.
I see. Thank you!

wouldn’t it be wild if they used their Claremont foundation, but moved on to adapt the Morrison or Hickman eras?

Not that I’d expect them to do that but you never know.

There is no way this turns out any good. It will be manifested with current day politics and correction.
Also animation likely will suck as well.

I dont think there is any much good material left beside IDK house of m and what avengers x men shit?

Who asked for this? I know a lot of kids grew up with this show but what X-men fan want new episodes of an 30 year old (and lets be honest here, not exactly top quality) syndicated cartoon? Rather than a new one?

Also does this mean the lawsuit surrounding the opening theme has been settled? or are they going to make a new one?

I definitely asked for this, bring this shit on!

And Professor X better be played by a bald man. You’re going to just give that part away to another bushy-headed white man when the voice acting industry is full of perfectly bald men?

Actually I wonder how the final product will look. Feels like it will end up looking too clean with modern animation techniques. The 90s animation style would probably cost a shit load to do now. Also the aspect ratio will probably be 16:9 not 4:3 like the original.

I enjoyed Spiderman and X-Men cartoons back then and loved how we had crossovers back then even though I didn't watch the standalone Iron Man cartoons and the other few I forgot.

I was hoping instead of this Marvel just made an Animated Cinematic Universe that's unrelated to MCU and instead of continuation we got a remake of Spiderman and XMen with major changes to improve script and action scenes. It wouldn't be a 1:1 remake but more like reboot.

This cartoon was a product of the 90's, today it would be cancelled as anti-woke. There's literally no way in 2021 it could be true to the original. If modern Disney applies modern woke thought to the new episodes this is going to be flaming dogshit.

If this post is too political then I apologize and the mods can delete it.

Anyways I'm not feeling too good about this revived show's chances right now. This is the new writer they have for the added episodes.

Maybe we can get these guys..
