THANK YOU! I know they are a tech site but fuck me, this group has effectively ruined the gaming for a great many of us (IMO). Who really cares that right back in the distance where you aren't looking, that tree in the Series X version is a little sharper than the PS5 version? Or that the PS5 runs 1 extra frame better in this scene than the Series X? Play the fucking games you enjoy and focus on gameplay!

I've been saying for a while that these guys have teared the fabric of videogame culture. Back in the day, we used to love seeing arcade machines getting all slow and glitchy because that meant we had dozens of enemies on screen and the game was pushing the machine to its limits. Now we have a bunch of pussies saying they won't touch a game because the frame rate drops on a specific corner of a track of a 300 hour racing game. POORLY OPTIMISED.

I do respect the channel but it has created a legion of autistic tech-gamers. But that's the Internet for you: radicalisation.

They completely glossed over the fact that the draw distances were improved in Days Gone on PS5 vs PS4 Pro and they only focused on resolution and frame rate.

No, it's not a joke. I just don't give a shit about performance. I play Switch docked to a 4K 55inch tv. Some people just couldn't care less about performance and resolution. I survived Blightown in 2011.

Things were so much worse than this, for much slighter differences.
If anything, DF gives actual data, and if you decide to battle over a 2fps difference that's really on you.

Yep. I remember those days... when I was a fucking teenager! Not when I am in my fucking 40's! Grow up and enjoy the games you play, not the fucking imperceptible frame rate differences and resolution differences that you need to zoom in to see where the point of differences are! Forza Horizon 5 doesn't run at a full 4k on performance mode?!? Fuck that shit, i'm not buying it. Bloodborne has frame rate hitches?! Worst game ever made! Zelda on Switch runs at an inconsistent 30 fps? Banish it to hell!

Frame rate analysis and pixel counting (especially when resolutions are variable) drive me nuts. More so when reason is lost over utterly imperceptible differences - it just fuels the warring.

BUT I like their tech analysis in general, and when they are positive about something it does get the hype up, but conversely they deflate it when they get too bit picky and it’s miserable. So in general I hope they get this figured out. Less clickbaity stuff would be nice - keep it classy.

I am not a DF fanboy but Xbox/PS framerates were terrible in the 7th gen and mostly solid in the 8th gen. Digital Foundry played a significant role in this turnaround by mainstreaming technical analysis. I cannot overstated their contribution to gaming.

For me it’s not about which version is better than the other. I just like to know if the game runs okay on the system I own and if it has screen tearing. I refuse to buy any games with tearing. I hate it.

Tearing is pretty much dead these days except on xbox platforms but when it tears it’s usually at the top of the screen.

This is on phoney gamers who think like that, not them. John Linnemann (sp?) especially repeatedly states that a lot of this stuff doesn't even matter, he plays on all consoles and PC, and loves old games too. I don't know too much about the other guys but the channel has my respect for John alone, and I'm hardly even into YouTube gaming channels.

I do remember that guy who comes off like too much of a PC fambot (should say fanboy but I'll leave it in cuz it made me laugh) and I don't like him either but I wish no ill will.
