i'd understand if there were games to play. might as well just hold onto your PS4 lol. people really that desperate for demons souls and ratchet/clank? horizon, god of war, and GT will be on PS4.

They are selling as much as they make, clearly people want them. Sony don't give a fuck for the reasons.

The better experience is on PS5. After playing Returnal, ratchet, miles its hard to go back to load times. I played the PS5 version of FFVII intergrade as I bought the dlc and did the PS4-PS5 conversion. Hollyshit load times even on a game that was primarily built on PS4 plays so much better on PS5.

i watched my brother who I gave my PS4PRO to for christmas last year try to play FFVII and waiting 30s+ was like a eternity.

Also that controller I cant go back to Dual shock 4. Dual sense just feels so fucking good.

uh oh looks like i've struck a nerve with the sony boys.

yeah...good for sony. if you go back and read my comment you'll see i'm asking why people want a PS5. there's 2 good games worth playing and 3 of the big titles will be on PS4. there's no rush to get a PS5. you could easily wait until 2023. that's my plan.

Why would i want to play cross-gen games on the worst possible hardware?
There's also multiplatform games (which is what most consoles have tbh) and all of those cross-gen games also play better on the PS5.

Plus...the PS4 is a slog to use with that HDD. After you have a PS5 or Series X, going back to last gen is painful.

You guys talk about buying a videogame console like it's not a long term buy.

Judging by software sales, most people want to move on from that old console for a long time.

Struck a nerve? What?

There's two good games to YOU worth playing.

Clearly not the case as the console is exceeding demand.

Your comment makes no sense.

They've done this before.

Yeah, pretty sure they mentioned this last year too

Might be something they do each year, obviously much more costly for them but it must make sense on the bottom line. Obvious question is why not do this year round as well if this is the bottleneck because the demand is there.

FYI: the vast majority of people buying Playstations don't give a shit about full-on exclusives. They just want to upgrade their COD/FIFA machines that are still barely running on hardware from 8 years ago.

My colleague got one for his sons at launch and they just play Fortnite, but now they play it at 4k60.

PS5 versions outsell PS4 versions like 4:1. Attach rate on current gen is very high.

Exactly. I'm glad when I got my Consoles when I did. Don't need to hunt for one especially.

And they will look and play better on PS5. If your goal is to simply hang on to the weakest hardware that can play a game then I guess you are playing primarily on a GTX 960, huh? Nothing wrong with that, but kind of strange that you can not understand why others would want better performing hardware.

This is the biggest load of bollocks I've read today. The planes will have what 10,000 consoles on each of them? So that's 60,000 for the UK. And I can say if they did 10x that number (600,000) there still wouldn't be enough stock.

Yours,
Angry of Mayfair.

About bloody time!

Not sure about this line though "It means millions of gamers will now be smiling this Christmas". Demand is enormous here, and GT7, Horizon, and then God of War are coming out in the next few months. Not to mention Forspoken and possibly FF16. No chance they bring enough to satisfy the masses.

That's going to be expensive as fuck with those 6kg packages per console

Only Series S and Switch would make sense to air shit at a reasonable price.

I’m much more of an Xbox user than PS, but there is so much more to PS5 than just exclusives. The whole system is so much faster, the controllers are more comfortable and new gen versions of old gen games look absolutely amazing. Defo a great upgrade for any PS enthusiasts.

But the xmas software sales is probably worth the additional cost I assume?
It's more goodwill from your customers. Getting 50k more people a Christmas present they want.

But as most PS5 sold as bundles with 2 or 3 extra games you have to pay for, yeah they make up the costs.

There are games and the old games run better. The OS is better, the controller is better, the WiFi chip is better. If you have money and want to, why not? I bought it first and foremost to play PS4 games with better settings.

There are no PS5 bundles except for retailer-forced bundles or membership fee accessibility like Bestbuy does. Hard for anyone to complain when they are needed to move consoles and it’s the best way to remove bots and scalpers from the equation. You need to give brick and mortar some incentives to hold onto space consuming products during the holidays.
Edit: they’re also low margin and need to make a profit on software and accessories

I mean that's clearly not true. I mean look at the sales of Miles Morales for example - 6.5m as of July.

The big 2022 games will garner similar sales.

Something is off, tho. Delta doesn't operate 747, as per their main web pages:
Aircraft Specification : Delta Cargo

They are also not using specific cargo aircrafts, just using the cargo space on commercial flights. So maybe 60 Flights, but definitely not at full capacity of the plane and nothing close to full on cargo flights.

The 6.5m figure is across PS4 and PS5. You didn't have to buy a PS5 to play MM, it's not a PS5 exclusive. Nor, by the way, is Horizon, GOW2, or GT7 next year.

Look no further than the total sales of games like God of War compared to the total number of PS4s in the wild. They're popular, but the majority of console owners aren't buying the systems because they have access to full exclusives.

Contrast this to the Switch and, say, Animal Crossing, where so many people bought the hardware for the exclusive software. Still not a majority but the attach rates for games like AC and Mario Kart are insane, because why else would you buy a Switch? Hell, I'm pretty sure the literal majority of Wii U owners bought MK8. And there was a point at the Switch launch where Switch copies of BOTW outsold the devices themselves, which is kinda great.

But a ton of gamers only buy console for one or two games. It is the FIFA, Madden, Call of Duty, Fortnite crowd AV AV is talking about. They were the primary drivers for PS4 to sell over 100 million. I'm not discounting the exclusives which are definitely a boon to the library, but casuals don't necessarily buy consoles for the same games you and I do.
