20 mins of Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies gameplay has leaked

Off-screen footage shows the new mode ahead of this week’s release

20 minutes of Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies mode gameplay has leaked, ahead of the game’s release later this week.

The off-screen footage offers the most extensive look at the new Zombies mode since it was revealed by developer Treyarch last month.

Vanguard’s Zombies mode is a “franchise-first crossover” and “the precursor to Black Ops Cold War Zombies”, according to its developer.

“This cooperative experience continues and intertwines with the Dark Aether story to create deeply engaging lore, all while innovating on the core gameplay that the mode is famous for,” it said.

“From Stalingrad to Shi No Numa, you’ll fight Von List’s undead army on all fronts” using a new set of abilities.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC via Battle.net.

A pair of Vanguard’s writers said last month that they want to help create two sequels to the game.

Discussing the upcoming shooter and its prequel comic during a New York Comic Con panel, Sledgehammer contractor Sam Maggs said she hopes Vanguard’s characters can become new mascots for the blockbuster franchise over multiple series entries.

“We came into this process saying, ‘how do we make the iconic CoD characters?’ because you don’t really have that in Call of Duty right now,” she said. “You know when you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of CoD there’s not really those standout characters.”

Last month, Sledgehammer announced it’s opening a new UK studio based in Guildford to support Vanguard’s live seasons as well as future projects it has planned for the coming years.

My personal favorite mode(s) in Cold War, play it in private coop mode with my son, so much fun. I hope that Outbreak is returning, I love those maps and their sandbox. Anyway, the quality of the video is good enough to tell that something is going on..

Yep, that looks a lot like CoD Zombies mode. Sad to say the mode never clicked with me. Hopefully those who enjoy it find some fun there, though Vanguard as a whole left me cold after playing the "Beta".

I really liked the map that launched with cold war, but then the first map they released afterwards I thought was awful.
& Outbreak got old very fast.

No idea if they added any more zombie stuff, I uninstalled the game as it took up too much space.

Ended up grabbing vanguard to tide me over till halo lands.

Should've stuck with it, CW Zombies improved steadily over the year.

Problem was content was very thin to begin with, and it only started to pick-up once they added Outbreak.

In its final form its a great mode; the mix of round-based, outbreak, and onslaught maps gives plenty of variety and all the mini-events, perks and specials they layered in over time did a really good job of keeping everything fresh.

The 2nd round-based map is the weakest of the 4 by a large margin though. Its not bad exactly but its gimmicks don't really add much. They made up for it with Mauer and Forsaken though, which are way better in every way.

There is 4 maps now? Wow, huge shame they added all this after I lost interest/needed the storage space :(

I think if I even wanted to check them it would be something silly like 160-200gb install, or whatever it is now.

Hopefully Vanguard brings forward the improvements you mentioned :)!

Yeah, space-wise it sucks because Zombies uses data from both Warzone and MP, so its pretty sizable.

But then there's a lot of content now: 4 Round-based maps, 6 Outbreak maps (with a couple of bonus easter egg areas), and a load of onslaught maps repurposed from the MP playlists. Outbreak I'd say has gained the most because of how many in-map events they've added and the way new perks and equipment seem to be specifically beneficial to that mode.

Some of the time-limited modes have been brilliant too, Outbreak Survival for example is really cool.

I can't wait for my nephew to be old enough (So only 12 more years lol) so I can play some mindless coop shooters with him, I'm sure he'd love them.

Here I come CoD Zombies 2033!

I play fbz the most, it's the easiest map to just zone out and go 40+ rounds in.

Onslaught is still exclusive to playstation.

It's 175gb without campaign, but with dead ops, ray tracing, and high res assets installed (+70~gb)

Can anybody tell me if the German version is uncut in terms of nazi symbolic etc? Haven't found anything online.

The footage in the OP showed an iron cross like motif replacing what you'd expect to be a swastika, so I'm assuming they are omitting Nazi symbology across the board.

I was all in for this since I love WW2 games, but: it comes out the same time as FH5, which will take up almost all my gaming time for the next month at least.

And PS Plus just made a WW2 mutliplayer game available for subs.

And Halo will be out by the time I come up from air from FH5.

Hard to pull the trigger.

Edit: also MACtion starts tonight.

I don´t want to derail the thread, but at what time can we play Vanguard if we set the region of the Xbox to New Zealand?

Marvel

could never
Same for me, but CW was pretty good since u could level your guns for MP pretty fast there.
I wasn't gonna buy the game because I actually despise WW2, but I'm hella bored rn and I know for a fact these guns will be pushed hard in WZ. So I gotta level em up or get dicked on.

At least it's on IW MW engine, there's that at least. CW felt awful.

Does that one simple trick really work? I have never tried it.

Worked for CW no problem. Could play a day earlier here in Germany.

It will be switched to the Vanguard engine with movement etc.. But the Vanguard engine is directly built on the MW-engine.

Game is ~36GB on Series X without the campaign. Pretty light for 20 MP Maps and Zombies.
