I don’t know man, I’ve fun with my ps5. Since I purchased Ps5, here are the games I bought (doesn't matter cross gen)

1. Yakuza 7
2. Ratchet & Clank
3. Judgment
4. FF7 Integrade
5. Kena Bridges of Spirit
6. Persona 5 Royal
7. AC Valhalla
8. Sakura Wars
9. Lost Judgment
10. DQXI
11 GoT: Director's Cut

I've platinum 8 out of 11 games in first year. I don't think I put similar effort on first year ps3/ps4.
Yakuza, Judgment and Lost Judgment the non plats?

Just return the product or sell it if you don't like it OP. I am loving my PS5 and am going to get a Series X at some point down the line. I like playing video games and buy them when they are an acceptable price and quality, it's actually really simple.

This gen might not have the biggest jump in graphics fidelity, but it has the best improvement of all generations.
60 fps as standard, and even 120 fps as an option.
This is huge to improve gameplay, response times, tighter controls, and much smoother action.

Sony believes in generations... but also in PS4 and PC.

To be fair, they still have a few PS5 exclusives, but are latching on to PS4 more than we expected

In my opinion Microsoft should have aimed for launch of the new Xbox this year using the new 5nm process node. It would have given them more time to get things ready and with the new smaller node push higher clocks at the same power/thermal budget (>14TFlops wouldn't be out of the question given the number of CU's of the chip and how conservative they have been). Hell if the yields were decent they could have even enabled the locked 4CU available on the chip that everyone seems to forget about.

My point is that they would have been able to do a proper next gen launch with Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 leading the charge. The buzz surrounding the console would have been totally different in my opinion. I say that as a day one Series X owner.

Guess what, every platform now is a PC. A lot of games will be crossgen, and that's ok, because you just upgrade your machine

Maybe Nintendo will do different. Maybe

The new generation is going to be like this; it's diminishing returns, but not as we know it. On a technical front developers have never been better served, but on a creative front they're hemmed in by their own success. SSDs in consoles should genuinely drive a leap forward in game design, but I'm not convinced we'll see it. More and more studios are now cleaving to the tried and true approaches: from innovation to iteration, from iteration to reiteration, so that more and more of what we get is sequels, remakes and remasters, all of which share much of their design with their contemporaries.

And I reckon that's largely to do with success and standardisation that's happened across the industry: just take a look back at the controllers for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and N64 - all wildly different with different aims and quirks. Now look at the Switch Pro, DualSense, Stadia and XBOX Series controller and the silhouette and layout is almost identical. Even when new gen exclusives do roll around, I'm not holding out hope of anything transformative, just prettier, slicker, more refined (or perhaps even more bloated) versions of what we already have.

RDR2 kinda proves this wrong. That game pretty much blew expectations away, with its realism and improved interactivity.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
I think it's because PlayStation Studios are stretching themselves so they can do movies and tv shows, when IMO, they should just stick with games since that's what they know and do best.
When did the Playstations Studios started to do movies and TV shows? I thought they were developing games.

So, Sony going all in for PC is a great thing _ pro consumer, everyone should be able to play their exclusives. Sony not leaving ps4 players behind, and doing ports for their own sorry ass costumers that can't afford (or yet grab) a PS5, it's bad arrogant Sony back again.
People forget fast the first year of every generation... or go all in and had third-party games, like metal gear, gta and final fantasy, to old Gen lists to prove their point...

This is my post one in page four, is it my first or fourth post?

Most of Microsoft announced titles are next gen only.

Starfield
Avowed
Perfect Dark
InXile FPS RPG (has been confirmed, just not officially announced)
Hellblade 2
Forza Motorsport
Contraband
Redfall
Fable
The Outer Worlds 2
Indiana Jones (not confirmed, but safe bet)
Flight Simulator

PS5 next gen only games
Returnal
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Destruction AllStars
Demon's Souls
Astro's Playroom? I think it is.
Deathloop (Next-Gen only PS5 timed exclusive)
Ghostwire: Tokyo (Next-Gen only PS5 timed exclusive)

So there have been some.
If you're going to put X-box games which won't come out for the next 2-4 years, you might as well add Wolverine and Spider-Man 2 to the PS5's list.

I mean, it kinda proves the point for me: that after so many years of development and so much money thrown at it, it was ultimately just a bigger, slicker, more thoroughly realised version of many very similar games. I think one of the most innovative games of the last ten years is probably No Man's Sky, but what's most telling about that - both from a market and industry perspective - is that the game has become more standardised in features and content as time has wore on. It's still a unique beast in its core conceit but a lot has been done to make that more immediately accessible to the average gamer.

History has shown the opposite.

First 2 years PS2
  1. Tekken Tag Tournament
  2. DMC
  3. Ico
  4. GTA3
  5. MGS2
  6. FFX
  7. Jak and Daxter
  8. Ratchet
  9. GTA Vice City
  10. Burnout 2
  11. Kingdom Hearts

First two years of PS3
  1. Resistance
  2. Motorstorm
  3. Heavenly Sword
  4. Uncharted
  5. Ratchet
  6. Warhawk
  7. GTA4
  8. MGS4
  9. LBP
  10. Socom Confrontation
  11. Resistance 2
  12. Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Year 1-2 PS4
  1. Killzone Shadowfall
  2. Knack
  3. Resogun
  4. Infamous Second Son
  5. DriveClub
  6. Bloodborne
  7. Until Dawn
  8. The Order
First 2 years PS5
  1. Returnal
  2. Ratchet
  3. Deathloop
  4. Forspoken
Thats it. the rest are last gen games. And none of these games are a giant step up from last gen like KZSF, The order and Infmaous Second Son were. Maybe Ratchet. But thats just 1 game. Deathloop, Returnal and FOrspoken look worse than Horizon which is cross gen. Some games do get delayed like GTA4 and MGS4 did, but they still released a year and a half into the gen. This time around, the games that were delayed out of the first year were last gen.

The OP knows his history.
Dismissing the quality of several titles just because they are crossgen is a huge mistake.

Year one starts. The PS5 is not Out for two years so how's the second year starting??🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
That's not how counting is done. I can't believe this is even an argument.

Can we get some kind of basic knowledge of the basics screening for accounts? A thread explaining how counting is done does not make for good gaming discussion. I mean is is nice and scary and well timed for Halloween, but FFS this is lame.

The sad truth is, leaps from one generation to the next having been slowing for awhile. Outside of the few examples you listed (most of which were pretty bad games) last gen had fuck all at launch too. I was burned buying a day 1 xbox and I didnt get ps4 until 3 years into the cycle, because that's how long it took for it to have enough exclusives to justify a purchase. X1 never really did anything with regards to exclusives.

Lied might be a strong word but Sony have certainly been bullshitting this gen pretty hard. All the talk of meaningful generations " we believe in generations" was just complete PR fluff.

Honestly surprised they have started off so strongly, a 500 quid console that offers LESS than a handful of exclusives one of which is a ps3 game that looks better now, oh and they are now 70. Compared to other gens and its competition this seems like a total ripoff.

People who bought the console because of all the PR surrounding them being committed to generations must feel pretty burned and honestly have every right too. Them committing to new gen games is exactly what most ppl want to hear (myself included) and I wouldve taken the plunge too if it wasnt for being burned last gen.

As a side note, no way Deathloop HAD to be next gen, clearly forced to fill out the ps5 'excl

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
Please close this thread OP, you are going to disrupt Sony next Playstation fiscal report.

I heard Deathloop is exclusive to PS5 for around a year, I think so it’s probably coming to XBOX eventually especially since it’s developed by Arkane to my knowledge.
I think the poster was wondering if it would come to the X1 as well. It is pretty much guaranteed to come to the XSX/XSS after the exclusivity ends. As for the older X1, who knows?

Current situation seems only bad if you are plastic brand warrior.the deeper in this shit the worst the feeling get.
For other people current situation is mostly more choice to do thing how you want.Surely bad !

What a truly moronic viewpoint. You must be very young, because you clearly don’t remember past generations and how things used to be. We had clear generational changes, with new consoles offering exclusive new games. The competition between brands was stronger, offering better value for consumers. Now, we’re entering into a homogenised games industry where everything is released on everything, and monopolistic attitudes can easily prevail.

I’m enjoying my PS5 immensely OP, so many games to play. Just from Sony I got Demon’s Souls, Returnal, Miles Morales, Ratchet, Sackboy, Nioh 2 remaster (published by Sony). Since I only have console from 3rd June, I barely have time to play all the things I need to play. If you ONLY use console as a 1st party platform, THEN you might be in trouble but for millions of gamers that’s their primary and only gaming platform.

What difference does it make for me, as a end consumer, if game is 1st or 3rd party, except for fanboying purposes. Games are games.

Chill a bit and just enjoy games. And we had many graphical stunners, mind you. Ratchet, Returnal and DS look phenomenal.

I don’t think they did or every game would have sold 10 million units. It’s more, They had the option to play an exclusive, but they chose not to and they definitely didn’t buy returnal which makes me sadge.
That is not the the point OP is trying to made up.
If people are buying or not it their choice.
That doesn’t change the fact that there is 1 exclusive to play each quarter since PS5 launch… the opposite what OP wrote.

That is basically what Sony always did… 3-4 exclusives per year… and that is why they are know to delivery in the game front.

Of course not, the game runs okay on GTX 1050. The only next-gen only game that's out right now that couldn't be possible on last-gen hardware is Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Credit where credit is due, Ratchet and Clank clearly cant run on current gen and atleast in terms of visuals Demon Souls is also next gen.

But yeah Flight Sim is really the only game pushing boundaries atm, such a shame it's so niche, it will likely never get the kudos it deserves outside the sim community :(

To be honest, i'm extremely underwhelmed with the PS5. I've had it since December last year and it is so "meh" - I last turned it on 3 months ago. I play in my Series X more as it is a lot more fun.

I'm really considering selling it.

I bought:
Demon Souls - boring
Ratchet and Clank: Rifts Apart - Loved it
Returnal - boring
Spider Man - Miles Morales - boring
Sackboy - Loved

Hmmmm

My initial response was to someone who thought babies turn 1 at birth.
Turning 1 is age.
No they aren’t one they start year one at birth then year starts after they turn 2.
You don’t count age in the future. What’s been completed is what you count.
I think you are missing the words of starting and completed. You start year 1 at launch and complete it after 12 months of which month 13 is starting year 2. Why is this complicated?
No, dummy.
The first 12 months of a babies life don't count and their first year hasn't started yet. Their first year doesn't start until more than a year has passed.

Also, babies prior to birth are in a yet to be understood "negative time" bubble. You'll sometimes hear people point out this phenomenon by telling a pregnant woman that she's glowing.
Then I should deduct a year off of my life since the first 12 months don’t count.

A lot of the issue is inventory based. They are making and selling alot of ps5’s, but very very few of those ps5’s are actually going to people who will play them, rather they are sitting in a scalpers garage. Because the ps5 isnt in the hands of as many gamers as they would like, they are actively losing money by making ps5 only games right now. Gt was shifted recently to work on ps4 as well, but i believe that horizon and god of war were always gonna be ps4 games first and fore most

Ratchet and Clank could easily run on PS4. Yes, you would see a longer "transition" between levels and it could be annoying but the game would be 100% playable.

Demon's Souls is a PS3 game at heart. Of course it could be done on PS4 with lower resolution and graphical settings. To think otherwise is lunacy.

Flight Simulator on the other hand is so CPU intensive that old gen machines would choke to death trying to run it at acceptable framerate.

I'm probably older than you but thanks the had hominen
All you are saying is false :
  • there aren't less good game
  • there aren't less value and diversity in them (it's the reverse actually if your vision is not mainstream AAA limited)
  • publisher releasing content everywhere today have litlle to do with competition or lack of it (it's more because you can scale most game design to most platform with actual hardware and tools)
All you have done here is vomiting a false DOXA using the usual element of communication of plastic box biased people by the letter.
Current situation give consumer choices, and those choices make it easier to skip the closed plastic box.
The real fear is not a monopoly here it's for one of the plastic box brand and nothing else....

The competition between brands is much stronger right now and we gamers get a lot more value because of that. Just look at Microsofts acquisitions and game pass.

How more multi-plat games encourage monopolistic attitudes, i don't get. I think litterally the opposite is true.

The only thing that has changed is that games take a lot longer to make. That's why the next gen games aren't coming out as fast as in previous gens.

Sony released all of their big first party games at the end of the ps4 gen.
Developing the technology that uniquely uses the power of the ps5 takes time. But Sony don't want to delay sequels like god of war and horizon even further so they develop them on ps4 technology and at that point they can just release them for ps4 also.

This is a generational leap.

Games like Horizon2, GoW2, GT7 have been in development for 4 years +. Idk how they arent impressive, just because they are releasing on PS4.
