Year 2 didn't even start yet. Why are you including those ?
Because we already know Sony's year 2 slate? Forspoken is the only next gen exclusive they have lined up for 2022. Gow, horizon, gt7 are all cross gen.

They are revealing 2023 titles like Spiderman and 2024 titles like Wolverine. You really think they are hiding a next gen only game in their pockets to reveal and release within a year?

History has shown the opposite.

First 2 years PS2
  1. Tekken Tag Tournament
  2. DMC
  3. Ico
  4. GTA3
  5. MGS2
  6. FFX
  7. Jak and Daxter
  8. Ratchet
  9. GTA Vice City
  10. Burnout 2
  11. Kingdom Hearts

First two years of PS3
  1. Resistance
  2. Motorstorm
  3. Heavenly Sword
  4. Uncharted
  5. Ratchet
  6. Warhawk
  7. GTA4
  8. MGS4
  9. LBP
  10. Socom Confrontation
  11. Resistance 2
  12. Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Year 1-2 PS4
  1. Killzone Shadowfall
  2. Knack
  3. Resogun
  4. Infamous Second Son
  5. DriveClub
  6. Bloodborne
  7. Until Dawn
  8. The Order
First 2 years PS5
  1. Returnal
  2. Ratchet
  3. Deathloop
  4. Forspoken
Thats it. the rest are last gen games. And none of these games are a giant step up from last gen like KZSF, The order and Infmaous Second Son were. Maybe Ratchet. But thats just 1 game. Deathloop, Returnal and FOrspoken look worse than Horizon which is cross gen. Some games do get delayed like GTA4 and MGS4 did, but they still released a year and a half into the gen. This time around, the games that were delayed out of the first year were last gen.

The OP knows his history.
So it goes back to my point that the "spicy" Next-gen AAA games don't come until year 2 or 3 years after the launch of the console while early adopters are stuck with the cross-gen stuff.

We use month to be more exact. It's the 12 first month of the first year.

Dude just stop you're wrong. It's one year after 365 days are completed. After that you start the completion of the second year.

By your logic January is the month 0 until we reach February.
Babies do start at 0 lol. If the baby was born in January then at February they would be 1 month old, not 1 year and 1 month.

You go to work on Monday. That's the first day of the week. At 9am Tuesday you are back at work. That's the second day of the week. You don't have to wait until you're getting out of bed on Wednesday to talk about the second day.
If the baby were born on Monday, the baby would then be 1 day old on the Tuesday, not 1 year and 1 day.

What are you nuts? Which of those games for ps2, ps3 and ps4 are cross gen? how is bloodborne, mgs4, mgs2 and gta3 not spicy? lmao.

I'll be honest. I didn't read the whole thing. But, hey, look. Fat guy in a little coat.

Fat guy in a little coat.

History should've shown you to never be an early adopter. Sony always show you the games that suppose to launch and then go "lol, no, coming the following year or two years from original date". All the spicy games will be there in '23.
Sony’s ps3/ps4 both had a horrible 2 years game wise…I think the ps5 has improved on the last 2 but as gamers it’s still pretty hit and miss

both consoles should of released 1 year later Imo

Why are bringing year in the example ?

In February they would be 1 month old and start the second month.
Like the PS5 being 1 years old and start the second year

I don’t know man, I’ve fun with my ps5. Since I purchased Ps5, here are the games I bought (doesn't matter cross gen)

1. Yakuza 7
2. Ratchet & Clank
3. Judgment
4. FF7 Integrade
5. Kena Bridges of Spirit
6. Persona 5 Royal
7. AC Valhalla
8. Sakura Wars
9. Lost Judgment
10. DQXI
11 GoT: Director's Cut

I've platinum 8 out of 11 games in first year. I don't think I put similar effort on first year ps3/ps4.

Most of Microsoft announced titles are next gen only.

Starfield
Avowed
Perfect Dark
InXile FPS RPG (has been confirmed, just not officially announced)
Hellblade 2
Forza Motorsport
Contraband
Redfall
Fable
The Outer Worlds 2
Indiana Jones (not confirmed, but safe bet)
Flight Simulator

PS5 next gen only games
Returnal
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Destruction AllStars
Demon's Souls
Astro's Playroom? I think it is.
Deathloop (Next-Gen only PS5 timed exclusive)
Ghostwire: Tokyo (Next-Gen only PS5 timed exclusive)

So there have been some.
KOTOR Remake is PS5 only, Spider-Man 2 is PS5 only and Wolverine is PS5 only

Report me if I continue to console war
Yeah, sony were subversive about games like forbidden west, Ragnarok and GT7.
which showed many fanboys and there double standards.
I think there strategy back fired, it might of got them some kudos at the start but when people find out they were doing plenty of crossgen too, they called sony out on it.

Regarding excitment about the games. Dimininishing returns is some of the reason and they both seem slower off the bat to transition to next gen game engines.
When Phil Spencer said "next gen will be more about how games feel". It was not just some PR line he knew that the visual upgrade will not be as drastic for the first few years.

Graphics will get better, we already know what to expect from UE5 demos from EPIC and the Coalition, more geometric density, dynamic realtime global illumination from things like lumen and raytracing, higher polycounts in general and more effects used.

I think the issue is that the power required for large leaps is far more then what moors law results in.

Even Cgi from 20yrs ago uses a lot more computational power then the current gen consoles have.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
PS4 would have had the same slow transition from the PS3 without the pandemic if it were possible for devs to run the same software on both consoles. Honestly it's a testament to both Microsoft and Sony for having current gen hardware that easily supports porting and optimizing software from the previous consoles. I don't want to go back to "hard generational" divides if we don't have to.

I think i just aughta say this once in every such thread...

If there had not been a supply shortage, if there had not been covid, if as many people had PS5s now as Sony might have expected when it started asking first party developers to make next gen games, many of the cross gen games would be PS5 exclusive.

I'm reasonably certain that a lot of these cross gen decisions have been made in response to the pandemic to ensure the games get maximum exposure.

This is short sighted, graphic whore'ing drama. PS5 and XSX Exclusive games will come.

Because the person I initially responded to said year 1 starts at birth. Year 1 starts 12 months after birth.
You are confusing 1 year old in how we describe someone's age to how we describe time itself. A person can be 1 year old, and yet in their second year at the same time. If you marry someone and celebrate your first year anniversary with them, you will never say you are still in the 1st year of that relationship. That year 1 has passed. You two are now in the second year of your relationship.

The moment clock turns midnight on November 15th 2021, the PS5 will be in its SECOND year. It will be 1 years old, but any game released on the PS5 from there on in will be released in its SECOND year. Otherwise, you'd say Horizon 2 released in PS5's first AND second year which is obviously incorrect.

Here are two ways to describe this:
1) Horizon Forbidden West released in the second year of the PS5's life cycle.
2) PS5 was 1 year old when Horizon Forbidden West released.

Both are correct, but you cant say PS5 was 1 year old and that Horizon released in the first year of the PS5 life cycle. That is incorrect.

Relax.
Most games in development are using next gen engines.
Once unreal engine 5 fully drops so will last gen support.

Turning 1 is age.

Nope he said "year 1 starts at birth" which is very different than "babies turn 1 at birth."

He turn 1 of age when year one end after 12 month which is the start of year 2.

It's still the same as year 1 (children being the reference) starts at birth.
Which is age.

But the baby won't turn 2 until the 24th month.
They're not 1 on the first month.
That’s correct, but it’s still their first year.

Although your child's physical growth will slow down in the second year, their development will continue at a rapid pace as they begin to explore the boundaries of their world. Here is a snapshot of your child's growth and development from 12 to 24 months of age.

You're conflating age and passed time. After birth you are in your first year of existence after birth, your age is recorded in months at which point you are 1, some people use months for the first two years, 1-24 months. The day you become 1 year-old you begin your second year.

If a new console is launched, the first year it's available for sale is year one. At the end of Year one the console is a year old and year two begins. At the end of year two the console becomes two years old.

I don’t know why you refuse to consider the difference between 1 and first and 2 and second.
I think people get confused by birthdays, they view it as the start of that year instead of the milestone for completing it.

They can’t understand, for example, that when you turn 30 it’s for successfully being alive for 30 years, not that you are starting year 30. They don’t realize that they are actually in their 31st year but won’t turn 31 until they complete it.

It’s a milestone to mark the past, not the future.

I understand where you’re coming from but the original quote was contexting age.

Maybe English isn’t your native language or the style used to count the years isn’t something you are familiar with.

OK, but do you agree with who I originally quoted that stated babies are born at age 1?
