Genshin Impact |OT| 4.0 (Fontaine) - Je m'appelle "la baleine"

Got it.

Yeah, I just go around picking everything. I feel like a trash collector.

This is something I still dont understand. the Resin is used for what exactly?

So primogens I should save for worthy banners that I want, pink wishes same. Blue wishes don't matter, just use them.
Resin is used for several things:

  • Leylines - blue and yellow spheres on the map, they look like glowing tumors in the game world. When you complete them, you get either a decent amount of xp books (blue ones) or a bunch of Mora (gold ones). These are always a safe bet if you're out of time and just need to waste your resin without thinking about it.
  • Domains - Talent materials, weapon ascension materials - Some of the domains (diamond and square shape icons in the map) will take you to an instanced zone that you can matchmake and co-op or solo, that will reward talent books (for leveling up character skills) or weapon ascension materials (for leveling up weapons past a threshold). I would recommend not farming these until you have a specific character or weapon to level up. A unique thing about this type of dungeon is that the drops in the domain are real life day specific. So on Mondays, you get certain drops, on Tuesdays, different drops - from the same domain.
  • Domains - Artifacts - Another subcategory of the domain, which drops artifacts from specific sets. Think of them like your armor in this game that pump up your stats and give unique effects if you use 2 or 4 pieces from the same sets. There's a lot to consider with artifacts and which ones work well on which characters, but that might overwhelm you for now, so just keep in mind that once you get endgame or at least up to AR 50+, that's when you should start taking these seriously. Until then, just use whatever you want. This is most of the endgame grind.
  • World Bosses - Character ascension materials, artifacts - These are circular unique icons for each boss. Certain bosses drop certain elemental ascension materials to break your characters level caps. Higher level = more resources required. Keep these limited to the characters you want to build for now too.
  • Mystic ore - weapon xp mats - just no. It's a noob trap and a terrible use of Resin. You can get all of the resources to level up for free just by finding ore in the world and refining it into weapon enhancement material. Don't ever use the recipe with the dark blue ore.
  • Weekly bosses - Character and talent ascension materials, artifacts, billets - There are currently 5 of these in the game once you catch up to the current end of the story. They'll unlock slowly as you work your way through the game. You should fight these each 1 time per week since they randomly drop materials that you need to max out talents and skills, and it's the only way to get them. You also have a not great RNG chance to get prototypes for crafting 4* weapons from these bosses.
That's pretty much it for Resin, but as you can see, most of it has to do with ascending and building your characters. You only have a finite amount of resin you get naturally per week, I think you regen 1 every 8 minutes or something like that. Really, any use is better than letting yourself sit at the max resin cap and having it go to waste. If you don't have time to play that day, you can also make something called "Condensed resin", up to 5 of them, where it will convert the regenerating resin into consumable items to be used later. This also saves you some time running domains and leylines, as 1 condensed resin = 40 regenerating resin worth. So essentially, by using condensed resin, you can do half the runs for the same number of rewards. Keep in mind, you can't use condensed resin on bosses, weekly bosses, or mystic ore.

That's a lot to take in, but a short way to look at it is, if your resin is near the 160 cap - go do some leylines. As you get further in the game and learn more about it, you'll probably be easily able to schedule out what you want to use it on each day.

Resin for world boss and week boss. Everytime you beat, will appear a flower closed and as you interact, the game will ask if you want to sacrifice resin in order to retrieve the boss reward.

Something else I forgot to mention, the higher your world level/AR gets, the more rewards you get from Resin related activities, and higher quality drops too. It's something that just kinda naturally works itself out as you gain AR, but still worth thinking about. Once you hit AR50, the gains to reward and drops kind tapers off, so a lot of players (myself included) never uncapped their AR past that until we have to or have a compelling reason to.

At certain break points, when you hit certain AR levels, your "world level" goes up at the same time, making all of the enemies in the open world higher level and exponentially more HP/stats. You will barely notice a difference until AR40 or so. There will be quests to "uncap" your AR once you hit those thresholds, so you can delay it until you're ready to go up.

Ah good times, Honkai just had their 4th anniversary for the SEA region, so we have an idea of what Global is going to look like. They're poking a little fun at the Genshin community right now. I had a laugh.

So, the zither is floating. For some reason.

They can't even afford an animation of Kazua holding it.
But all the characters can hold it, right? I was playing that minigame with Raiden Shogun. She held it and played it. I assume you could have Kazuha play it too if you own him, so why not just use that animation? Baffling decisions all around.

Yeah, but they probably would have had to make different animations for when Kaz is talking and holding the zither.

3 more years and we are golden!

Kazuha? You mean the Kaedehara Kid?

I legit laughed at how that guy (nice character model btw) threw him under the bus lmao

I found it funny too that Kazuha, after dealing with his issues in Inazuma, decides to go to... Well Liyue of course! He doesn't know anyone there except Beidou, who left him to go explore Inazuma with Xinyan, so it makes perfect sense for him to just wander around and find this amazing adeptus instrument. Wow, who would've guessed? Liyue is the country of literature and poetry after all, duhh, as well as cooking, money, contracts, stone and ore and basically anything and everything you can possibly imagine found its origin in Liyue. Where else would he go huh?

Meanwhile Inazuma, the land that chases eternity has abandoned half of its territory, and one of the islands is basically independent/rebelling against the Shogun, leaving us with a grand total of... What, one island the shogun has managed to keep her hands on? Maybe two if you count the returning flower girl who went back to the nuclear power plant island? GJ Ei, nicely done.

In Thoma's hangout, you go to a shop and he says something along the lines of "It's a nice shop... of course, not as nice as Liyue shops".

As you progress the quest, you travel with Thoma to Liyue and see Chongyun and Xingqiu together and Thoma gonna be like:

Damn, we will need to sit through a lot of garbage before we will get to Cocogoat rerun and Yae.
Well, I would argue that playing only for the gacha banners isn't a great thing to do anyways. This patch has been great so far with the new island, and Misty Dungeon is coming back in 2.3, so for once I'm actually looking forward to content more than banners. I think we all get caught up in the banner hype cycle, but it's actually kinda nice to not have anything on the horizon that I'm worrying about rolling for.

Banner is secondary for me. It's fun for me getting excited for it (Itto) or seeing people excited even if it isn't a character I want.
Meanwhile, playing 4D Chess and connecting the dots between each of the stories on the Islands actually gets my noggin jogging... or taking a million screenshots

Side note: last nights Arknights stream made the Genshin Anniversary rewards more embarrassing... they gave plenty away as usual and it isn't even anniversary for another 2 months.

Man, I wish I could get into Arknights. I've tried several times. The designs are top tier, there are enough systems to keep you busy, but I just fucking hate tower defense. Add to that the fact that it takes like a year to build a single character, it just really didn't click with me. Particularly that mode where you purposely gimp your units to get high scores just fucking ruins me. I drove myself insane trying to get enough currency to get that Manticore skin and then uninstalled the game lol.

Yeah, if Tower Defense isn't your thing it's really hard to recommend. There are guides you can breeze through but kind of defeats the purpose then. I think you're talking about Contingency Contracts with Risks? I'm still not close enough to managing a high risk run so I try not to think about it lmao. The design, story, and consistent company rewards is a big draw of what keeps me stuck to it.

Sounds absolutely terrible. Plus I hate the ingame models. Art is beyond cool tho. Love it. If only they moved to full 3d like GI or GFL 2. From what I understand it's a pretty successful and deep game, I wonder when we will get a sequel.

As someone who skipped the vast majority of banners this year, I'm of the opinion that Genshin doesn't offer enough content without banners to keep interest. For me, one new island and 1 or 2 semi-noteworthy events in the span of 2,5 months is not looking good. Not when the banners are crap. I'm used to it though at this point.

5.2 global also seems to be getting most, if not all the CN rewards; really want that collapse eye, it's going to trivialise lots of quantum assholes.

So just finished day 3 quest of Tsurumi island and got the namecard. 10/10 best sidequest in the game so far. What a wild ride. Love the puzzle layouts and hidden stuff too. Tsurumi is my own personal "bar" that I'm going to use to judge future areas.

The rest of the patch can (and likely will) be shit, but I'm still giving good survey feedback about this one. Kinda makes me mad now how bad Watatsumi was for no good reason. They could have just released Seirai island in 2.1, properly fleshed out Watatsumi in 2.2, then finished with Tsurumi afterwards. Ah well.

Zither event is tough since I play on a huge TV, I need to develop lazy eye if I want to see both sides at the same time. Might just do future days on my phone.

So Goroumommy is apparently a furniture item. You know, something that is ultimately useless but looks great in your teapot like Kujou Sara.

Did you see the one about him looking like a Japanese general clad in white with Jiraiya-like face lines and white hair? That's all I've seen so far.
I've read he's supposed to look like a character from Black Butler?
So he probably won't have an extravagant design.
But I've never seen Black Butler, so.

So the Inazuma teapot actually DOES have a day/night cycle, exactly as I had hoped. Daytime, no matter time of day, is the Inazuma sunset, complete with flying cranes that give it such an awesome style. Also, the water looks like a painting, it's totally unique to the inazuma layout. Then at night, you get a cool blue/purplish moon.

If only it had waterfalls, it'd be perfect, but as is, it's a mix between the beach theme with Inazuma trees and geography. Definitely going to make it my main layout now that I've seen it. Fantastic job by the devs.

Sadly, I think I'm about done with Tsurumi island. I've been no-lifing it the past few nights and this morning/afternoon. I have a few misc. treasures I'm missing and assumingly a few ghosts quests to find/figure out, but otherwise I think I've done all the major stuff currently released. Found the new arena for the new boss next patch too. The puzzles felt just right this time, as far as difficulty and variety. Still really impressed with Tsurumi, and as it's the most recently developed land mass in the game, I have high hopes for future areas. There are a TON of hidden achievements for this island.

I wish we had a better way to track those instead of all in that one huge category. I know I'm probably missing some from Mondstadt/Liyue, but it's so laborious to go through and see which ones I'm missing. Maybe show the achievement entry even if it's not unlocked and a hint of what unlocks it, in the game.

Thank goodness. This was exactly what I was hoping for if I remember.
