VG Tech: Far Cry 6 PS5 & Xbox Series X|S Frame Rate Test

Does anyone know how to install the HD texture pack?! Playing on Xbox series X. Can’t find anywhere to download a hd texture pack

Edit. Looks like it’s installed by default on Xbox since it says hd texture pack on the top left of the main menu

Yep, VGTech is probably the best and most reliable source when in comes to resolution and frame rate analysis, but they don't pay too much attention to other possible differences like settings and whatnot. I really love that they always leave the stats for eveone to see the exact differences in performance, though. DF and NXG are more in-depth analysis, but even they miss some details at times.

Unpopular oppinion: I like ElAnalistaDeBits too. Sure, he's made some mistakes in the past (he always wants to be the first to show us his comparisons and he probably should take a bit more time), but Rafael (that's his real name) is a very nice guy and I'm sure any mistake he could make is unintentional. And usually his analysis are not that inaccurate to be honest, look at this one for instance, the results are essentially the same as VGTech.
He was wrong on FC6 too! I knew after playing for a couple minutes that his "drs 1800-2160 on ps5" was off as it looked immediately softer to me on ps5. Kinda bummed about this because the image quality isn't the best. Far cry 5 on the One X had a beautiful native 4k image whereas this looks blurry at times on ps5. Wish we had the same res as Series X ...damn it...im so tired of devs saying their game is 4k and then it turns out to be dynamic res and much lower ...

Basically lines up exactly how you would expect with the hardware differences between the platforms

nothing really stands out here

Fixed.

The 30fps norm on consoles will return within the next couple of years.

I don't know, we have reached a point where there's barely any visible difference between Ultra, High and Medium settings, sometimes even Low, and the biggest performance factor is the overall rendering resolution. Plus dynamic resolution starts to become more and more common. So I think in the near future once PS4/XB1 are no longer supported, we will still get 30 and 60FPS modes, with DRS doing all the job, we will just be getting liek 1080p60 and 1440p30 respectively as oppose to 1440p and 4K we're getting now. The only performance heavy feature I can think of is RT, which often doesn't bring anything to the table, like here in this game, The Medium, RE8 etc. to name a few, so unless the devss won't be pushing heavily for tons of reflections or RT GI, we gonna do fine.

to be honest i have been playing through both versions and while the ps5 has the slight muddy blur of a lower res game compared to the sx it still looks pretty good and I prefer the dualsense for shooters even if I think it’s a cheaply made control…I love the adaptive triggers with this game…I’m popping of enemies all over the place

i did notice some weird lighting glitch’s on series x but I think it might be down to the dynamic time of day

game looks good on both consoles

Solid performance across the board. Xbox has the edge with a better resolution.
However is the game formula starting to feel stale? We'll see.

I'd be fine playing the same old thing over and over if they simply put some effort into the AI. I've watched the videos - the enemies go through the exact same stupid animation routines and react in exactly the same way as they have in 3, 4 and 5. It's a fucking joke.

Xbox Series S is hitting 60 fps consistently than the PS5 and XSX?

Confused Excuse Me GIF by GIPHY News

I'm impressed if so, even if not by much.
Lower resolution

Im on PC playing on a 3090 with all the bells and whistles turned on and I feel like they didn't do a good job with the setting. Game can be a bit ugly at times lol

Its still that wacky Far Cry 6 gameplay, its fun as hell once you unlock a few things, but some areas look really drab IMO

The hardest part is whether to buy for PS5 or Series X. The resolution difference to me is too miniscule to matter. Can someone chime in on the Dualsense usage?

I had the same question but opted for Series X given the higher res and less screen tearing. Also looks pretty incredible in Dolby Vision at 60fps. Oh and it supports Quick Resume.

Is there any additional latency with dolby vision?

You know what's funny - NOBODY knows the facts about the HD texture pack situation - whether it's included in the main 68GB download or whether you need to download the separate 26GB add on listed on the Microsoft Store. Not even Ubisoft. What a shit show.

You don't, it's on the menu screen with the version number on Xbox.

It's dynamic on both, so it's almost impossible to say the exact numbers, they depend on the frame you choose to pixel count and figures will be different in every analysis. DF and VGTech often give different numbers too, and it does not mean either is wrong, they just pixel counted different frames.

Alex is saying the reflections are the same quality across the consoles

And from someone playing on a 3090 on PC, turning on Raytracing REALLY doesn't have that huge of an effect. If anything I'm keeping the shadows on, the Reflections option is so minimal its no point taking any performance hit when its barely noticeable.

The HD Texture Pack also isn't really worth the hit on PC, it looks a tad bit better - but nothing worth really losing performance over. IMO The other settings(Especially Vegetation and Geometry) display much better results. I can't wait to see Alex do a breakdown of PC Settings and their impact. Of course with this card im not really seeing an "Impact" anywhere with the results i'm getting, but I noticed flicking those settings off/on/rebooting the game - that they add so little its just not worth it.

I'm gonna say it. PS5 version is slightly disappointing as the res is noticeably less sharp than series x and it doesn't hold to 60. Also, screen tearing. Ubi may very well pull a Valhalla and lower the resolution in a patch to "fix" those issues.
yeah good luck with seeing diiference when lowest res is 8% diff, avarage on both around 1800p according to other site and even highest bound 1908p vs 2160 will be hard to catch

It's probably pretty stark at up to 30% if you compare side by side but most people won't be doing that. It might be the decider if you own both consoles, higher resolution and better framerate will probably matter to a lot of people.

Game looks kinda shit, and that AI walking in the first 10 seconds... 2006 NPCs.
Series X takes this one with the higher res (though I think there are a few settings that are a bit higher on PS5?).
Fuck screen tearing.

Higher res, more stable frame rate but most importantly (to me anyway) it has much less screen tearing.

Will give it a go over the weekend when I get back from work.

1908p vs 2160p may seem a small difference (and actually mathematically small) but a 2160p framebuffer will result in a 1:1 pixel match. That’s what creates this noticeable difference when both consoles render at their possible highest resolutions.

It’s 2021 and we still have to deal with screen tearing? Come on Ubisoft!

3:33 ... yikes. That tearing 🙁

Nah upscale from 1908p will give very close to 4k quality

You would have to run the games side by side and going back and forth to try and find the smallest difference and even then, I seriously doubt anyone would ever be able to tell one from the other.

This is just a scorecard in the console war. XSX has the highest score. Warriors rejoice!
