I don't think I've seen this posted on Gaf yet?

Yea, its super cool! Been loving these more unique lego sets. This is what I wanted with a Nintendo/Lego team up.

Still hoping we get "packs" or "expansions" for the NES lego set. Provide new in-lays and a lego cart for different games.

- Kirby

So yeah, this is another franchise that is due to get a new game. Hal has said that, after Star Allies has released, that Kirby has entered a new age, and it has been more than 3 years that the last mainline game was birthed into this world. So I feel like Kirby will show up in this E3, and the game will be in 3D...

But not "full" 3D. But rather, it will take the approach that Mario 3D World took. There will still be levels, and the levels themselves will be somewhat linear, but they will allow for Kirby and the player walk around in a 3D dimension, albeit a limited one. Like the devs of 3D World and 3D Land once said, they will try to use leverage their 2D expertise with the freedom that 3D gives. It wont be the jump that fans want the Kirby franchise to take, but it will enough to keep it fresh and interesting.
hmm this might be what I was looking for.

Haven't really used my Switch in over two weeks now. First time it's ever happened since I bought it three years ago. I'm only waiting for the OLED model to arrive with Metroid. It's the only thing I can think about at the moment. It's gonna be the game of the year, no doubt about it.

Sold my V2 Switch some months ago and borrowed the Switch from my brother (got his 2nd child so no time to play). Back then I was hoping for the Pro, but the OLED is also great for me, since I play mainly handheld or table top.

I put most time into Tony Hawks Pro Skater. Some of my back log I don’t want to touch without the OLED update.

Apparently both Treasure and Rare have hinted on more of their N64 backlog coming to Switch in some capacity. Rare already has Banjo-Kazooie confirmed, while Treasure has Sin & Punishment coming at launch. Time will tell if and when more will come.

With the way Paper Mario has gone, not sure if I'd be even slightly interested.
Not sure who’s calling the shots, if it’s Nintendo or Intelligent Systems, but they need to stop watering down the Mario RPGs. The desert level in the latest Paper Mario was satisfying but it was also the only segment in the game that wasn’t a complete pushover

I didn't even try it. That combat system looks atrocious. Just rerelease Thousand Year Door.

Does this mean we could see GoldenEye on Switch at some point, or do Microsoft own the exclusive rights to that through their affiliation with Rare?

It lost its novelty halfway through the game and became a chore, but the boss fights with this system were kind of interesting. Hopefully it was a one time battle system though

I kind of doubt they will; Rogueport is a shady place and overall the tone is pretty grimy. TTYD was hardcore for a Mario game. Nintendo will probably chose to ignore it and instead push the series further with new titles further down the road

Idk if this is new news but its interesting considering the recent thread on Switch 4k (it will happen one day) apparently Nintendo patented some image reconstruction tech similar to Nvidia

It will be interesting to see were this goes

A new Joy Con should not drift. Maybe you got a sent back unit where someone swapped them. I was lucky so far so it‘s hard to believe there is really a wide spread issue.
I replaced the Joy con analogue stick on some Joy Con to have quicker sticks. This was only 10$ and 20min. So you might order some replacement analogue sticks.

At this point I think it's pretty much confirmed the next Switch will have some sort of machine learning 4K upscaling, the only question is when will it release, I hope next year but I wouldn't be surprised if they waited much longer.

2023 would be my guess. Hopefully by then the world will be free of shortages.

Probably a great idea. Nintendo’s Joy-Con controllers are such a poor product. I’ve had two break and one is in the verge of breaking after only a couple months of light use (only one game) ….It’s like they’re worse than third party controllers tbh

They’re the worst controller ever made that’s all I have to say about that

Finished Shin Megami Tensei III today, oh boy, I have a lot to say honestly.

Playing SMT III after playing IV and Apocalypse was really rough, other than the combat SMT III is worse in everyway imo.
First the positive thing I'll say is that the combat for the encounters were just as fun as ever and I managed to break it quite easily I felt. This game was surprisingly easy for the most part, I misunderstood the MCs growth and got bodied by the first fiend but after getting a grip on it and grinding for five hours I made him my bitch and steamrolled over every boss encounter until... I think her name was Skadi? and that was only because the devs realized how broken physical attack builds were and started throwing in bosses that nullified it. I had to figure out how to setup a decent magic team, took a few tries but those bosses also went down after a bit. Battling, recruiting demons and fusing them were easily the best part of the game, again none of it was particularly difficult but it was fun, the rest however was pretty weak.

Dungeon design was infuriating, the game has random encounters and while I don't have an issue with that alone (I loved Octopath Traveler after all) the design around it was the most obnoxious I've seen yet. So many hallways, rooms, and traps only exist to waste your time, in a game like Octopath Traveler they at least put items on the wrong paths to tempt players, SMT III only does that 25% of the time, the other times you'll be greeted with empty space or a trap that forces you to backtrack through multiple rooms to get back. I know they want to wear me down with the random encounters and perhaps other games have this but here it happens so frequently it becomes annoying. That's not all either, because later in the game they start having trial and error trap and teleport puzzles where you'll basically have to go through the same hallways multiple times to figure out what the correct pathways are. This seriously, ruins the final dungeon as it becomes a slog to get through. Not helping is the save points being so spread out at times, occasionally their were hour long gaps in between them and it felt rare of them to put one directly by a boss fight. Too me it only mattered for a few but I could see people having to go through at least 15 minutes of backtracking to get back some bosses if you die.

The characters and world were not well done in my opinion.
Spoilers ahead for SMT III & slight spoilers for IV:

So, what I get from SMT series is that basically Apocalyptic Tokyo happens at some point in every game. SMT IV spent quite a bit of time building up to it and established characters and relationships between those characters and even after they're in Tokyo they're still with MC for quite a bit of the game. In SMT III, you have maybe one entire conversation with your friends before the world ends, then the friends disappear for most of it and when you do encounter them they don't act like friends and are instead off doing their own thing. It's not until a very late boss fight that them being friends get brought up and it's just brushed aside. Pretty weird thing to do, but what was weirder was how the end of the world happened and no one has any reaction to it and NPCs seem to act as though the apocalypse world has been their for some time? I feel like I missed something? Spirits are all over talking about world specific stuff as if it's been in place for some years, some are partying, theirs factions already built up trying to conquer the world.

But going back to the friends and maybe it was me just not paying attention but the direction they go in didn't make much sense to me. Wannabe cool man turns into an... idk... isolationist? He wants everybody to be alone, in their own little world, never interacting with anyone else. I didn't get that from his character and him taking in spirits was odd as well, I forget the reasoning behind that but I would think that would be counter to his desires, since if he has spirits in him he's never alone. The caring looking girl wants a World ruled by those with power, also didn't see this with her character. Tbf she did show desire for becoming more powerful to handle herself in the world but then she apparently goes evil off-screen because of that. Also she made it to the top of the Mantra Tower on her own (no idea why she was even their) and gets merged with a demon and then goes on a killing spree. A lot of this felt rushed and out of place, even with the little time you get to spend with those two.

Anyway I guess that's it. Combat good, everything else not so much. Thankfully SMT V looks like it's taking things from IV and improving it so it looks it'll be a much better time.

I’m really curious about the OLED screen quality, had to go through several Switches to find my V1 (Odyssey Edition was great) and then V2 (Animal Crossing was good, still liked the Odyssey Screen better).
So I hope the OLEDs are more consistent.

Finding alsorts of stuff i had totally forgotten about while rummaging in boxes in hunt for my old pokemon card collection as i have hundreds from gen 1 onwards. The last time i saw these was when Nintendo 64 was still the current gen of consoles. These are still brand new, bought them as backups for when my other sticks wore out & i seemed to have promptly forgotten they even existed for the last few decades. New sticks feel weird so tight and squeaky feeling, haven't held a pad in years. My N64 collection is scattered in boxes all over i honestly can't remember what else i have forgotten about.

For some reason Amazon updated my Switch OLED with the price of the V2 (which is 80€ less right now, or 60€ compared to when I ordered). Unfortunately that‘s the version with the black dock, but for that price I might order some white replacement shells and put the dock behind the TV 🤪

Metroid Dread is on the way. Just got a notice from the online store I ordered the game from. Unfortunately I won't be getting my OLED model until next week, due to them getting their shipments late from Nintendo. I guess it's because the high demand for it.

Walmart changed my address to something I’ve never heard of from my actual address to just Historic District and my apt number. Hopefully we’ll see if I actually receive mine too

I saw this on the official Nintendo website. It’s like a mini scavenger hunt promo across the site for Mario Party Superstars where you can win some Nintendo Platinum Points

Just tried the cotton saturn tribute & it's a bit sluggish, not the total unplayable mess that the youtubers are drumming up drama over but you can def notice it. Still managed to complete a few levels on both cotton games but i never played either of these so i died because i didn't know how to use the attacks properly as i skipped the tutorial but i can play through this. Bought the special edition as i liked the arcade instruction replicas.

Also picked up warioware, metallic child, summer in mara & rolling gunner as well as hades.

What’s gone wrong with them? I swore I’d only use 8bitdo since my original Joy-con drifted but I’m tempted to buy the Zelda ones now that there’s reports of cardboard fixing the drift.

One drifts, the second one stopped working, and the third doesn't function 100% as it should maybe like 97% of the time it's working fine. Sometimes the third one wont register a button the way it should when I was playing Super Mario Party. And I bought that Joy-Con strictly for Super Mario Party so four people can enjoy the game. All that Joy-Con was used for was Super Mario Party, maybe friends, guests, and I used that Joy-Con for a total of 40 hrs of Super Mario Party and it was never dropped, yet it still is showing signs of malfunction

Joy-Cons = worst controller of all time

Metroid seems really good and that's saying something considering I really didn't care for Returns. I still think the parry mechanic is out of place and it does feel like the game is funneling you a lot more than previous games but other than that, I'm having a good time.
