I moderated a huge forum and still do and have for about 15 years now.
The first post of this thread read to me like a personal attack on the mod.
It came off too specific and it sounds like angry language. It nothing personal, but I'd ban the shit out of you and make you an example.
Respect. Its all mods really want from having to deal with fucking children
stupid, petty, coward assm, (fuck that, aint no one talking to me like that)
If some of these words were choosen differently and it came off as genuinely not aggressive,
yes I feel the passion, but it was a dumb way to post publicly about your own pm and then even with all the warnings(theyre warning you for a reason)
and say
"exposed the PR crap of Phil Spencer"
yeah thats exactly what they told us to kick back on.
The original post is angry talk and needs more quiet time to before spewing more crap.

I think a lot of the console warring cunts have ruined it for the rest of us though. Taking a mild jab/shitpost is now bannable. I've made jokes at Microsoft in the past but I've never actually had a problem with them and think this gen they're getting their shit together and getting games/IPs. I'm happy for the Xbox owners if anything but some people HAD to ruin it.

This the problem i have with this thread, there was a thread with healthy discussion that closed fairly quickly, while sublimit could have handled it better this thread only feels like its left open for people to make fun of him or leave a witty comment instead of talking about the real issues, and how we can be better as a community to fall in place with the new guidelines if that is indeed the path.

The real issue is people behaving like children. Look at all the thumbs up in the sticky and then compare to the recently banned. It's always the same guys. And no matter how many get permed, there's always like two new ones to take their place.

There's always console warring.
But given a mod made a sticky about it a week ago giving fair warning about doing it, and telling gamers it's getting bad lately and those same warriors are also seemingly flooding pressing the report button at them means the console warrior cycle is amping up to over the top levels.
So if everyone just cools off a bit, fewer people will get banned and at some point that sticky will disappear.
Look at the ban list the past few days. And then check out the post that caused it. Couldnt be more blatant. Still no control but to keep flaming. They know what they are doing. You can tell they were trying to wing a quick one liner or two hoping it slips through.

I would recommend looking at the responses you are receiving and perhaps start to look inward.
It appears you are not the type of person capable of having thoughtful conversations. But at the end of the day, it doesn't even appear that you are interested in that at all. You didn't come here to learn anything, or to engage with others. Your statements are the gaming forum equivalent of yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater and then bitching and moaning about the consequences.

I swear to god, we should just implement a system where people privately validate they own both consoles to the mod team or a history of intriguing, value adding, posts to filter for high quality discussion.

I think the crackdown has to do more with the usual warriors not only doing it, but also doing all the report button whining as a full circle of stupidity.
Who knows. Maybe if it was solely modest console warrior posts in isolation on the forum that would slide. But if I was getting report button junk I had to sift through from people who do the same thing to others, Id cut the cord fast too.

Calling a game a failure is subject to developer/publisher expectations.....one dev might only need 1 million sales to call their game successful COD selling 1 million would be a failure.

While the OP threw a lot of unnecessary shade, the overall point is still valid. It isn't about being owed anything. It's about arbitrary post deletions with months-long warnings because you said something that the specific moderator didn't like. I have a three month long warning that doesn't expire until November because I said the Switch has sub-par graphics due to having sub-par hardware (compared to PS4+/Xbox One+). I own a Switch. That isn't console warring. It's simple a fact, and an obvious one at that.
The warnings force you to acknowledge it, but there's no option to dispute it. And they don't tell you who did it so you can't reach out and ask what was wrong with what you posted. Arbitrary moderation is a fact of life when it comes to forums, but some of these post deletions and warnings are just abuse of power with no opportunity for recourse for the individual who gets warned or banned.
If a mod/admin reads this, I'm not trying to attack or slam you guys, but I hope you'll have some internal talks about this because I feel like you guys are letting the pendulum swing too far the other direction. I'm completely onboard with shutting down console warring, but I think there needs to be some internal discussion about what actual console warring looks like. That is just my two cents.

I had a post deleted that I was hinting at something I was told awhile back by a person very high up the food chain at Xbox and I too got one of those odd responses making it sound like I was crying.
I didn't take to the open forums to bash the mods I spoke with a couple of them behind the scenes telling them why I posted what I did and where this info came from.

The forum went a little wild wild west for a while and some user got used to it and decided to run with it.
Its good some order is returning to the forum.
Youll find quite a number of the current banned list on twitter are the filthiest of filthy console warriors they are bringing that garbage here so hopefully mods keep up with making the forum sane....it shouldnt be so draining to enter pretty much any thread and have console warriors derail the thread within the first page.

If anyone loves console warring to the bitter end, the latest bans on the ban list is like a stake in your heart.
The vast majority of them dont post in any other kind of thread (not even in any Community or Off Topic sections) or post anything outside of warrior posts and drive by snippets.
So for anyone who is tired of console warrior posts, the bans lately are a blessing.
