The Last of Us Part II and Fallout 76 possibly coming to PS Now in October 2021?

Some PS Now users have noticed that a few new games appeared in the game library earlier today. See the following screen shot:

Also, see this article from Push Square:

Everyone (and by this, I mean everyone on planet Earth :messenger_winking: ) already knows that Final Fantasy VIII is supposed to be added on October 5, because it was announced in this PlayStation.Blog post a month ago. But, we haven't heard anything yet about the other games. An official announcement has not been made yet.

The addition of Fallout 76 is particularly eye-opening, as the game and its publisher are now owned by Microsoft. I didn't think we'd ever see any Bethesda games added to PS Now (that weren't already there previously), so if this turns out to be true, then it's a very interesting development.

This means jack shit for future Bethesda games coming to ps5. Please don't even start again with these theories.

It's an existing game on the platform and a GaaS where they just released a new MP/monetized feature (Worlds) putting it on PSNow makes sense.

Currently, I can't see them in my Playstation Now account.

I don't see them, either. It seems that some users in the UK saw the game icons briefly, possibly due to a glitch that showed these games earlier than they were supposed to.

It's a GaaS MMO. No different than Square putting Avengers on PS Now for a month. They want to lure in new whales anyway they can to sell MTX. Putting it on a streaming service is just another way to get people in to buy MTX or even the monthly sub.

That's a good point.

The part that surprised me is that a Microsoft-owned game is newly added. I didn't know whether Microsoft would still be open to featuring their games on PS Now. For games like this that heavily utilize microtransactions, it makes sense.

Wow if true.

LoU2 came out June 2020.
Why?

God of War was added to PS Now on October 1 2019. (When they re-launched PS Now.)
God of War shipped on PS4 on April 20 2018.
About 18 months after launch.
God of War was then removed on January 2 2020, so it was available for 3 months.

Now lets say if,
The Last of Us Part II is added to PS Now on October 1 2021.
The Last of Us Part II shipped on PS4 on June 19 2020.
About 14 months after launch.
It would then likely be removed by January 2 2022.

Thats's a very similar time frame. Plus now all PS4 games are "old" and last gen since PS5 shipped. They have already told investors publicly they will be adding Spider-mam Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West to PS Now soon enough. Jimbo wants to make PS Now appealing by adding big games for a limited time, I guess.

PS+ I would have been surprised, PSnow who cares, you pay for the sub and they can remove the game anytime!

If it makes it to PS Now, it's obvious that the haters are going to use it as ammo to attack the game a year after its release.

Neil Druckmann already said the game was profitable day one, so any claim that the game flopped is hilarious. lol

Come on Sony are you even trying? If people haven't signed up to PlayStation Now neither of these two are going to be the one that draws people towards it...

Honestly I forget the service is even a thing until Sony bombard me with adverts for it everytime I go to PSN on my PS5... no one cares... lol.

Worth noting that TLOU will be available until Jan 3rd 2022 (so for 3 months if I’m not mistaken), so there’s a long way to go until the first party library is added to PSNow.

I might still sub to play it but is it gonna be 60fps or 30fps since it’s the PS4 version ?

Looks like PSNOW just got a 1 month sub out of me, I'll play TLoU2 for $12.99CND+tax.

They need more solid titles on that service.

I almost bought it on sale this weekend since it's on a deep sale right now. Looks like I won't have to, to give it a try and finish it once.

That's really, really bizarre to announce it so far in advance.

It's what they've been doing. When Avengers was announced in April it was given this disclaimer:
Marvel’s Avengers is available until Monday July 5, 2021.
Borderlands 3 was apart of that same month and given this dislaimer:
Borderlands 3 is available until Wednesday September 29, 2021.

You can download the patch and play it in 60fps on PS5. It's in the announcement.

I'm just surprised. That would basically cut off sales for months ahead of time without them even being on the service. A lot of stuff on Gamepass is practically shadowdropped. They do announce some big deals, but it's usually day one stuff so that doesn't happen and they're not losing out.

Seems like Sony wants to up their game with this. I tried the $1 dollar promotion a couple months ago. My experience with the service was a really bad one. I definitely couldn't stream without getting connection errors.

So i downloaded a couple games and it was ok. One thing that bothered me was the constant errors with the service. For example, they put avengers in there and I tried streaming it. I couldn't get past the first scene, it was really bad.

So i looked up the option to download it and there ir was but I didn't because I had to go. The next day I try to download the game and now there was no option. The only way to play it was streaming so obviously I wasn't able to play the game.

I didn't get why there was no option to download it, supposedly all PS4 games can be downloaded.

Anyway, this won't do much. They need to offer newer games. I don't think anyone will be willing to pay $10 a month for old stuff.

Have to disagree there. Its playable for sure compared to where it started but its still not nearly where it should be imo.
What do you think could be improved?

Couple of months ago I played for about 40 hours on gamepass and the things I wished were not added, but instead cut, is the og mission design.

The main campaign and events they have right now would suffice but right now the original content feels out of place in between the newer stuff.

Basically what you laid out would be a great start. The mission structure is super weird for the type of game it is. It feels like a single player Fallout that was modded to work with co op. When I played it, people in parties didn't always get progress for the same mission. Basically whoever was the leader got all the cred.

The events to me were super shallow and there wasn't much reason to do them.

If you like Fallout and the aesthetic it brings I think 76 is playable but other than that, I never had a good time with it.

Yeah in the end many of its structure feel cryptic and unrewarding. It's mostly a game about the journey and exploration itself, then much less for the end

It's like NMS. It's updated and a good game now.
Please don't insult NMS.

Yes, it have been updated many times and mainly for the worst (take everything from F2P and put it in a PAID game, that's Fallout 76). It's like one step ahead, 5 steps backward every time.

Fallout is 76 is EXTREMELY FAR AWAY from NMS redemption. It's a fucking buggy mess filled with non sense "content" (=grindfest), basic feature are still missing after 3 YEARS (no trade system, no common stash between character, drop rates are totally disconnected from reality, hacked weapons EVERYWHERE...etc).

So, NO, it's still not a good game, they have barely 2 devs on the game busy to add unrelated stupid ATX items to buy, that's a shame and they even removed promised features from the roadmap of this year (pet), and this is not the first time. Bethesda just doesn't give a shit about the players of this "game", literally.

People, avoid at all cost Fallout 76 or play it only at a solo game, do the quest then quit this shit. The world itself is wonderfully crafted, everything else is BS.

It also comes down to how you commit to the game. If you play it like a full time job, reviewing each possible inch of it while playing, there might be a good chance you end up finding every flawed things. Making you dislike the game in the end.

There are also people who's more easy going, taking the game for what it is. There are not many game like 76 tbh. I think they did a good job there.

You’ll get your answer closer to December.

Relaunching last of us part 1+2 with Factions. Why do you think retail/digital are all discounted? This went out by Sony, to all retailers. Right now they are doing fire sale because they are doing a repack deal that comes with last of us part 1 remake.
Factions is F2P from what I know.

There’s also some form of horde faction mode planned. Not sure if that is f2p or paid?
