If only we've gotten a L4D3 and not an uninspired redo.

This should've been the reveal trailer IMO.

The other trailers set the goofy setting/feeling from the characters. Im totally unable to "Fear" the infected/zombies cause of it. This trailer showed them as scary as they could be I guess, but thats to late for me now.

Just subscribed to GamePass for a month to play this, looks like it'll be an mtx-fest and not worth a buy.

That trailer was crap aswell.

Honestly you are better with literally any other coop shooter. You have Aliens Fire Team Elite and even the War Z enhanced version as more engaging experiences and thats just keeping it recent.

I don't know what it is with this game but there is just something "missing" that makes the entire experience unfun... like there creating a problem on purpose so they can sell you the solution later, that's what it feels like when I'm playing like there's an invisible weight over the whole experience that makes it feel shit.

So as much as I wanted a new Left 4 Dead this is not it.

This game doesn't need a card based system for skills, but they've shoehorned it in. I'm guessing there will be micro transactions down the road.

It's competent enough minus the stupid fucking card system.

I'll play it a few times on Gamepass then delete.

Looks like it could be fun with friends . Not liking the cards system stuff and the lack of offline play. Hopefully with time and updates this turns into a viable and fun new ip. I can always just play l4d 1 and 2 otherwise I guess.

Eh? The cards are just modifiers/perks.

I mean I dislike 2K's monetization practices as much as the next guy so I hope you can still earn all variants with in-game currency but the people getting hung up on the "card system" act like they've never played a modern shooter before lol.

Ah, the vaunted $15, 30 day rental. Excellent play.
Actually it's my first time subscribing so it's £1.

I'm not a fan of the subscription model but I'll do it for this, Halo and Forza, so £9 or £17 in total depending on whether I keep it for two or three months.

It's bad because you have an invisible feeling about something maybe?
Very convincing.

I mean some games are just mechanically bad, it's hard to put a reason on early but players just know they suck. Look at evolve (their prior title) had rave reviews but the playerbase just dropped off a cliff, now we have deep dive videos about why evolve sucked and the reviews where wrong. But at the time players just thought "oh this game sucks" and stopped playing in droves.

Its pretty much that, the game just sucks, if you need an essay of why that is I suggest you wait a a year for people who livelihood involves doing that for you.

As hyped as i felt about this when i played it seemed 6 mons to a year away from being what i expected. not sure what could change that or even if they worked on it any more. Maybe the full game will seem diff, but it just seemed to be missing smoothness lfd had. Animations needed work, sound cues for special infected, character conversation seemed all over the place. not like the cool flowing conversation in lfd

I liked the beta and can’t wait for the game, but Christ man that is such a lame trailer

Can't wait!

played an insane about of L4D1 (and 2) to beat them on expert with 3 friends.

I am also a L4D whore (vermintide 2 has been holding me over for the last 3 or 4 years) and can’t wait for B4B. It really scratches my horde shooter itch, even if it’s a bit different from L4D.

We got a review code. Playing the game early and finished Act 1. Do not play this game without any friends its a horrible fucking mess with random.

Oh and also game warns yoi that all voice conversation and chats are recorded for "safety of players" really stupid and insane. I have every right to speak what I want when I am privacy in of my home. Yeah, I can hit the mute button but this is just invasion of privacy too me.

The review has no embargo so I can speak as I please. Use discord if you want to true freedom to get groups of friends and say whatever you please

Pros so far -

Great visuals and well optimized on the Xbox Series X

8 characters to choose from (4 at start, others are unlocked after beating 1st stage of the Act 1 which consists of 4 or so chapters.

The hub main menu is cool

Good voice acting

Cool story based cinematics

Cons

Bolt Action weapons are absolute waste and shit

Horrendous Swarm PvP mode. No one likes it of the people I've talked with including myself

No versus campaign is super dumb

Been out for days if you preordered it. Good game but its a $39.99 game at most. Hold off for a sale, very big lack of content. Also if you play single player none of your progress counts .

Back 4 Blood is a co-op first-person shooter and spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead that pits a team of Cleaners against a parasitic zombie threat known as the Ridden. From game-altering cards to Swarm mode, here are 6 things to know about Back 4 Blood. Sponsored by Warner Bros.

Back 4 Blood is developed by Turtle Rock Studios, formerly known as Valve South, the developers of Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. With Back 4 Blood, Turtle Rock takes the Left 4 Dead DNA and turns it into a new four-player cooperative FPS that can be played with friends or solo with AI companions. The zombie enemies known as the Ridden are former-humans who have been infected with a parasitic worm called the Devil Worm. Ridden come in a variety of forms, ranging from the common ridden, zombie-like enemies scattered throughout levels, to special Ridden, like the Tallboy who has a massive arm to smash Cleaners with, the Reeker that explodes of death, the Stinger which binds Cleaners and the Snitchers that call a horde with their scream. A new deck building mechanic lets players build decks of cards that they can pick from at the beginning of levels and from safehouses. Cards have various buffs and perks that stay with the character throughout the campaign, and can be used to help combat Corruption Cards which appear at the beginning of missions and adds a new randomised element, like the Mist card, which brings in a thick fog for reduced visibility. Corruption Cards add replayability by creating randomised events that make no two runs the same. Fight zombies with assault rifles, SMGs, shotguns, snipers, LMGs, and melee weapons. Fort Hope is the central hub of the game where players can manage decks, play missions, test weapons at the shooting range and buy cards and cosmetics using supply points. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios, Back 4 Blood is out on 12th October on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC.

That's crazy how this game look way inferior of what they have done with Left4Dead 13 years before it... Seriously the feeling of weapon, the gameplay, the content, the content politics (Old season pass politics that split the base of players with season pass and dlc's for new map and survivors) for more... All is wrong...

For me a real disappointment, I do not know for what reason but the new trend of conceiving the online video game and its rules are seriously harmful to health. Taking a deluxe version for 93 € and seeing that progress and goals cannot be achieved in sigle player is an absolute gravity, a disrespect. Unlike L4D where everything was so perfectly calibrated, both single player and multiplayer. I want to be free to choose how to play and when to fully enjoy the game if I have to continue and go online to play with people who prefer to run and play like it's a BR becomes the real shit. Obviously refund.
