[VGTech] Diablo 2 Resurrected PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Frame Rate Test

PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode use a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1706x960. Native resolution pixel counts at 2560x1440 seem to be common on PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode. PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode appear to use a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 2560x1440 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode use a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being 2560x1440. Native resolution pixel counts at 3840x2160 seem to be common on PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode. PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode appear to use a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 3840x2160 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. Xbox Series S in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest resolution found being 1280x720. Xbox Series S in Performance Mode uses a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 1920x1080 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. Xbox Series S in Quality Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1706x960. Xbox Series S in Quality Mode uses a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 2560x1440 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. PS5 and Xbox Series X in both modes render the UI at 3840x2160. Xbox Series S in both modes renders the UI at 2560x1440.

The game is really difficult to run properly even on PC, much more than it has any right to be anyway. These results are not surprising.

Is this game really that much more resource intensive than Diablo 3? Doesn’t look like it tbh.

But eh, a win is a win.

Who won?
Resolutions seems the same for the big boys.
And dropped frames are less than 1% recorded on both.

This shitty performance is because they chose the run the original game at the same time as the remastered graphics.

Blizzards are clowns if they can't make a product better than this shit though.

Stats show XSX first, PS5 second, XSS third.

But I doubt that anybody has been able to notice any difference on any of these comparisons since launch with their own eyes.
Can’t wait until everyone has a VRR TV and can stop starting at these decimals.

How the mighty have fallen.

I never was much of a Blizzard fan since they took the wrong turn after Warcraft 3 but wth are they doing over there?

Less than 1% of frames are dropped.
No frame tearing.
In 30fps mode we are talking about drops to 28 and 27.
The game uses some sort of Temporal upscaling when res drops.

Are we really calling it a win for anyone....they are identical really.
Its an imperceptible difference between the two.
Even if we were to look at them side by side I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference by eye.

Dunno if its a bad port....but they certainly achieved parity.

Idk what's wrong with the console versions, because a 5700XT runs the game at a native 1440p at around 90 fps. The consoles are effectively at half the performance when you take the resolution drops into account. What the fuck?

Well yeah that’s how things are now on consoles and has been all gen, decimal fps differences is literally a thing now 🤷‍♂️

It's beautiful and runs like butter on my i5 1660ti, so this has to be poor optimization. Will hopefully get patched for console. It looks WAY better than Diablo 3, people.

Tbh I played the beta and the resolution put me off. I was on Xbox box series x. Controller really didn’t feel natural with Diablo 2 either.

Wow horrible work Blizzard.

I can't even get it to drop anywhere near 60fps on a 2070s at 1440p nevermind sub 60fps and sub 1080p! It normally sits about 110fps which still isn't great everything considered but wow just awful work.

WTF, looks like something I'd expect an Xbox One X (not series) to be able to run at 4K60fps.

Reading the text before watching the video and looking at those resolutions I thought performance mode would be 120fps and quality 60fps. Nope, 60 and 30.

The fuck? How is this not 2160p/60?

Where is Path of Exile stats for consoles or Torchlight, can't be that bad....
First thing I did was go in search of a performance video for Torchlight 3 to compare. Couldn't find one. But surely it runs at 4k60. Maybe even on One X.

This is what happens when you're too ambitious (simultaneous console release), while getting anally probed by your colleagues and your local state govt.
